My uncle got a new Ford truck in 1980 took it back to the dealership said NO POWER was SO GLAD he didn't get rid of his 1976 straight 6/3 on the tree had 300k on it only put a water pump on it…
I had a 1970 Ford F100 w the in-line 6, but was 260 ci. I bought it w the engine apart and in the bed. I rebuilt it and had it purring like a kitten. The only problem was I lived in Phoenix and about every 100 miles of continuous driving it would vapor lock. All the tank vents appeared to work. The only thing that would resolve the issue was to unscrew the canister attachรฉ to the fuel pump. It would fire right back up and go another 100 miles. This was in the early 90โs. I still think it was the vent hoses, but it didnโt fix it. Anyone have any ideas?
I bought a 1980 ford f150 4×4 new . Was a carnal brown color had bed rails cloth seat , carpet , ranger pkg , no radio , cost -$ 8,650.00 in 1980 . This blue truck is very nice . I would use it . If he donโt , heโs only saving it for somebody else to have some day . I sold mine after having it only 2 yrs . Times were tough back then .
I had a 1978 Silverado. This old trucks, could be fixed on the same place, you got stranded. I carried wire, extra fuel pump.Duct tape, water, in my tool box, plus few tools, like vise grips.tire jack and cross bar.
Isn't it just sad that they've all lost their integrity ? I had a 68 3/4 ton with a 360/automatic in it, and it was very dependable , ๐๐บ๐ธ๐บ๐ธ Now they have nothing comparable.
I have a 1980 f-150 with the in-line 6 that has about 128,??? miles but it has the crappy mustang tranny of a 3 speed w/overdrive. Been sitting for about 15 years after my barn fell on it after a 30 in snowfall one night. But it still starts
You can't kill a 300 inline 6! I had a 86 with over 500k miles on it and it never failed to start and be reliable. They are true to their industrial roots
Those engines will run even with no oil in them they are like a cockroach damn well near impossible to kill had an e100 van with that motor and a standard Trans could beat that thing all day the body rotted off the frame and she was still going strong
If Ford went back to selling these then they would have more money than they know what yo do with but they would rather force us into an ev and be greedy
My old landlord had a 78 f100 with the 300 straight six with 2.50 gears in the back end. (I think he got them out of a 78? Maverick.) It wasn't fast off the line, but it got pretty good mileage for a a box on wheels. (24mpg, if I remember correctly, but it was YEARS ago.) The Ford 300, AMC 258, and Dodge 225 were the engines I grew up with.
Did you have any doubt? My 300 I6 has to crank for a long time any time it sits for more than a month or so. The fuel is evaporating from the float bowl, or draining back to the tank, or both. Have replaced the carb, and the fuel pump, and it is still the same. As long as it is run periodically it is fine, and starts immediately.
Truck would NOT DIE

My F100 cast iron 6 cyclinder sat for near on 18 years & started & ran fine ๐
The Ford 300cid is bulletproof. By far, one of Fords best engines ever!

Slow Ride, Crank it Easy.
Nothing better than a 300 In-line 6!!! Will last forever no matter how hard you run it
Wow. That thing looks clean!!!
"F150 First cold start since leaving production line."
Lol that truck is unobtanium.
That is so nice
Love it Ray you are the man Raymond Ray.
153624 the firing order burned into my skull from all the ones I worked on, those things were just tuff as nails
You shouldโve held the gas to the floor when it started to see if it threw a rod or suck the valve in the cylinder and cause major damage

Propylene glycol is different than the green antifreeze.
You can't beat old school mechanical engines vs new school technology ones!๐ช๐ป
I had a 1989 f150 with a 4 speed manual. Engine and transmission were excellent. The rest was absolute garbage.
no drought about it
A Ford that starts? Sacrilege!
From the Steve Mitchell book – How To Speak Southern: "FAR IT UP, SUH!"
it for sale?
Where the hell was that thing hiding?
Push that peddle to the floor and hold it then let it up slowly, 300's will always start
I had a 1978 Silverado. This old trucks, could be fixed on the same place, you got stranded. I carried wire, extra fuel pump.Duct tape, water, in my tool box, plus few tools, like vise grips.tire jack and cross bar.
I have the same truck, but in tan. Itโs not nearly as clean, though!
๐๐
Nice truck!
Miss my I6 and a 4spd!
As a diehard Chevy guy, hats off to those old Ford 300s. Absolutely bulletproof.
Wow…now that's clean…
Isn't it just sad that they've all lost their integrity ? I had a 68 3/4 ton with a 360/automatic in it, and it was very dependable , ๐๐บ๐ธ๐บ๐ธ Now they have nothing comparable.

My dad drove one of those truck with that 6cylnder for 400k miles he had to stop driving it when the frame broke in half
That moment when even an atheist is praying, hoping for ignition
One of my top most favorite motorsโค
you can't kill a 300 straight 6. best engine ford ever made
Always loved the 300 straight 6. It is like a tractor engine.
These engines are hard to kill. Miss owning one.
My favorite ford motor. I knew before i even clicked it would start. I miss mine terribly
Canโt kill em
Come ON Ray, you have to do a video explaining the background to this.
Best Engine Ever
I need to see some more of this bad boy.
This is when Ford built the greatest engines and put them in the greatest trucks.
Just had too get fuel going…
So thatโs what my F150 used to look like! Sheโs missing a Lot of sheet metal due to rust, old plow truck!
Nice look truck.
I have an 88 Jeep with that motor.
That's a clean looking truck
I need an early 80's with a 300 and a stick. Damnit, I'm jealous.
Best motor ever made! I had one that knocked only on the first startup drove it for years kept the oil changed. Probably still going
What year Ford F-150 is that
It's big news the day my 1983 300 DOESN'T start! Pretty reliable.
Foghat! Great band ๐ Ford 300 Great engine!
The 300 was a legend , Sรบper tuff and reliable till it got to 150k miles and the blow by would not allow it to hold front or rear seals
Ray, you been lacking videos. WTH?
Thought this was a zip ties and bias plies vid for a sec when I seen power stroke on the valve cover. Minty!!!
81?
Of course it was gonna' start, it's one of the best engines Ford ever used. Except for that "dura-spark box" horse ๐ฉ…lol.
You can't kill a 300 inline 6! I had a 86 with over 500k miles on it and it never failed to start and be reliable. They are true to their industrial roots
I'm not a big Ford fan, but the 300 6 has to the toughest motor ever
Those engines will run even with no oil in them they are like a cockroach damn well near impossible to kill had an e100 van with that motor and a standard Trans could beat that thing all day the body rotted off the frame and she was still going strong
Wow I have same one in my driveway my neighbor has one I'm working on 1987 300 if your working on that one any time soon I have watch that one
Those engines are thought, hard to kill. Gorgeous truck!
Gorgeous rig!
Looks brand new โค
If Ford went back to selling these then they would have more money than they know what yo do with but they would rather force us into an ev and be greedy
Man I swear the six-cylinde Ford Chrysler and the Chevrolet are the most indestructible engines you can get for an old truck
Love old inline 6s
Outstanding Ray

Those old in-line sixes always start.๐
just because there is no fuken computer in it sayin' u cant!
I do love the 300 6
It takes a lot, to keep a tractor motor from starting, and that's pretty much what a 300 six is.
how many miles?
Holy Crap! That's beautiful!!!
Now thatโs a beautiful truck
Love that engine
There's a guy on YouTube that modified his 300 straight six with LS1 heads. He welded two heads together to make one long straight six head.
In the early 80s a Ford 300 ,6 was better than a 302 ,
That 300 six was one of the best six cylinder engines Ford ever made.
That's a clean looking old f150 right there… nice ๐
But itโs not the legendary 226 in-line 6 from Ford. ๐ค
Damn, that thing is beautiful.
