You as a very knowledgeable man and skilled mechanic would know years ago they didn't have torque wrenches but were skilled enough to do the right amount of pressure th what ever you are tightening
Big cars like thar don't do your back any good mate. Look after your back. At 57 mine is shot thanks over reaching 👎
the for 5.4 is 14lbs and if you dont do them right thats when the blow out
You were taught in school not too embarrassed or ashamed to ask or for it to be known that you were going to the bathroom. There's no shame in the man's game
I understand the torque on that. The process has to be tempered. Meaning you have to retorque it everytime you turn it off every day for two weeks. Then you do it once a week. Then you do it bi-weekly and then once a month. This is how you keep high performance engines that run 13000 RPMs or more together. Your tempering your Metal 2 learn how to flex together as if it's one solid piece
I remember changing rear spark plugs for so many people.
i like to use a 7-8in piece of 3/8 fuel line to install spark plugs, they dont get dropped an its easier on the hands
Doo da doo da doo!
Torquein down plugs in some case is the case some times but not torquein them down and just screwing them in tight can crack the porcelain on the out side of the plug and couse misfiring as well
One day I was listening to this channel after having a bad day so far and your encouragement to make sure that I was having a good day turned things around. Thanks for a positive, informative influence on those Electromagnetic Waves. You ride them well.
When you tighten a spark plug you are only squeezing the frangible washer enough to prevent pressure escape
I haven't scrolled through all of the comments so forgive me if this has already been stated. I am almost positive this rig falls into TSB from GM that causes this issue. The drivers side valve cover design has a built in PCV design which causes oil leakage and leads to one or more plugs to foul. GM redesigned the valve cover to rectify this. If this vehicle falls into that category then they will most likely have this issue return and it won't take long for it to happen. Just a FYI. Love your videos
Wrong sparkplug gap possible problem on #1. Not firing correctly.
I'm in SoFlo. How far do I have to drive to get you as my mechanic? lol
Do people not clean their cars anymore?
You know stuff – cool.
Was the misfiring cylinder draining gas past the piston & diluting the oil? Sniff test the dipstick?
Mustang jokes just hit different
Could be a bad fuel nozzle on the end of the injector causing the plug to faul
189k miles. Original plugs
How does this not have DOD failure 😂
Crazy question?? Can the engine hydro lock with that cleaner? If the answer is no is it because the mist is very fine ? Btw hello from Bakersfield California not too proud of the whole California thing though 😂.
Knee pads. And a telescoping magnet (I have an unstable left shoulder–no way I can work without a magnet).
‘Mustang Crowd Hunter’
Awesome
Death to all auto makers who put the plugs in hard to reach places.
Design with maintenance in mind.
Pluggen Sie coil. Yes as someone else said in different words, watching your work is therapeutic.
Ooh – very fetching orange gloves today! So much more chic than those boring blue ones! Oh – wait…"Why am I dropping things today?"…orange-glove-frictional-inadequacy? Nah – that's not good enough for this channel. "470 nanometer asperity deficiency"…there, that's better.
To get off your toes, get an oldcoke case(wood) to stand on. That will give you enought height to reach most everything …..maybe
if 70,s std coils lasted 10-20 yrs,, why do we now have seperate ones.. that shit in 2-5 yrs. just for the computer.?. all tech seems to be related to the greenies demands, for zero emmisions. so. everyone, stop driving, get out, & demand an ev. see what the responce is.. ev,s & green tech, costs more than what we had. &, costs the earth more, which there ''trying to save''.. i call humungus,,bs..
Not being in the automotive industry, who pays for the dropped spark plug?
Do u have a link for the mist tool u use
There is a torque for everything whether it makes sense or not.
It's because though they can't drive almost there or can handle one.
I have 13 Silverado and behind my TB is really oily and I been chasing maf code
Good call on throwing out that dropped plug.
what ever happened to that boat you were going to work on ? and you need to do some more Russian Ray..
Interior needs a few cans of cleaner as well.
Looks a real health hazard….🤮
Why didn't you just re-gap that plug you dropped? Or are you concerned you may have cracked the porcelain? Just curious. Thanks for any replies.
Good job ray..and not maintaining your car is not good..kinda can tell the lack of care just by the inside goop (groosss) can’t even clean the inside of the car
Then that’s just lazy
Needs a bottle of seafoam and a tank of
High test gas!
In the old days we never torqued plugs… can't remember now precisely, but from memory, snug down then either 1/4 or 1/2 turn more to crush the sealing washer… that was all we did, and was as per the book.. Now with insurance, legal, safety, and technical "experts" abounding we need to do it more by the new book…..
Is it good to use anti-seize on a threads of the spark plug
I like your channel and have watched many of your repairs. As with most of the people I enjoy your problem solving methodology. But I couldn’t believe what I heard in this video. You said a little maintenance goes a long way and later if it ain’t broke don’t fix it to the wire replacement. I have always followed the replace wires and plugs at the same time approach.
You like Snap On dealer (he smiles)and he wants the cash or… your 'unclicks' will need recalibration if you don't pony up.
Ray…stop dropping us…my mri's(Magnetic resonance imaging) are showing permanent damage.
Like those screaming little air pneumatic air toys!!_Doesn't Everyone?
Hey Ray I was enjoying the video but again the SPAM interruptions are nerve wracking man!!!!
Some loud dance music or very annoying jerk babbling about nothing!!!😕
Old style plugs that had taper seal you didn’t need to torque even though they still have oem recommendations for it but the collapsible compression type need torqued because the amount or torque required to collapse seal ring and the strength of thread is specific we don’t want to elongate aluminum head threads do we, just a bit of info
why not regap that plug? I have seen plugs come out of the box slightly bent and needing a small adjustment.
