Nice troubleshooting.
My Gladiator has the same water issue… I don't understand either.
No comments. Such an ugly solution. The least you could do is to buy OEM conse to make it look less ugly. What about the window switch on the door panel? Is it broken also?
Break out the Brake Clean! and its gotta be a lot louder…all thru the shop. Even if stops cars on the road.
Don’t hate jeeps but I wouldn’t buy one
Christ on a bike, that door loom looks kind of awkward. Glad you are back Ray, hope things will return to normal a 100% soon!
Betcha they were happy to have an up window when the storm came in. The passenger flood is something I would've taken much more serious. Do they want rust death? That's how cars get rust!
You might be able to fix that switch if you can take it apart and clean the contacts and lubricate the parts of the switch that move.
shoulda left the connector hangin out..
Glad you and family survived the hurricane, I hope the series generated some massive hits to your vlog!! It was fascinating to watch!! ME
If that other window worked but had a lake in the floorboard before…i wonder how deep the lake got after Ian came through. No worries on content delay…you have a full plate already…the prep and hurricane videos you posted are good to see..even better that you and yours came through ok. i just hope your house guests places all fared well.
DOor Leaks all Jeeps have that problem during hard rains has to do with removable doors. You have to bend door to seal at top corner.
What a great selling point. You get a Spa in your car sweet!
Did a baby Ian come visit before daddy?
Waiting for the hydro locked videos to start coming soon . Glad you and your family are ok.
What an smart and quick fix. Can't wait to hear more Doo-Dee-Doos.
Probably faster and easier to take the switch apart and repair it. If it has a dome it might be collapsed and stick down with thr tape that holds it in place.
Rule of thumb is, either do it right or pay someone to do it.
Just. Emptied. Everyone's. Pocket.
Hi Ray, which model of gopro are you using if you don't mind me asking? Video and sound are really impressive!
Great job Ray, please keep up the good work!
I like your light saber!
TY,,,,,,WOW incredible very interesting super kool ,1st class great info.,, AAAAAAAAAAA++++++++++++ again great video I liked it a lot ,keep up the great work.
I would have swapped the switch from the passenger side to the driver so as to not confuse them and explain what you did. Then it would just be a matter of popping the passenger one in later once you get the replacement.
Hi Ray got your message
Hey Ray do you or any of the viewers know how abam79 made it through the storm he is down your way.
Yes Ray good to see you and your family are safe. Many people were not as lucky. Good to see some flicks from work even if they are short. I can imagine for a lot of folks the car is not a priority there are more pressing matters. For the next little while you will probably be seeing a lot of swamped cars with problems from the sea sault, See you in the next vid Ray.
I wonder why the owner didn’t pull the floor pan drain plug on the passenger side.
Glad to see things going back to normal for you
"Is there a 'Ihava Cansur' in the house? Ihava Cansur? Any body?"
You guys got it way worse than here in the broward area. All we got was windy wind and barely any rain. Glad your okay !
Step one for the owner there, is pull drain plugs to let the water out. Also it only takes a few minutes to pull the carpets out. (Longer to put them back in…) I pull mine out if they get wet, that way the car doesn't start smelling inside and the carpet can dry out on the clothes line.
Good to hear your getting back to normal again. Stay safe Ray
Good to see you back Ray ,hope you and your family r safe.
The passenger side having water is most likely the owner draining through the floor plugs the drivers side so they can drive it and not bothering to drain the passenger side. I imagine the whole thing was flooded from that storm if they couldn't get a window to roll up.
Glad you're with us after that terrible storm. If these are jeep folks how come they don't pull the floor plugs and drain the floor panels? I saw the vids of the storm and I guess it might be a while before folks start thinking clearly again. I know I'd be a whole lot scatter brained for a while after going through what you all went through. Very sorry it happend to you guys.
Older jeeps were made much better. Like my friends 1981
I didn't know you could get after market power windows..and that wiring that was done would scare me.
Glad your home made it. It hurts me that you didn't move the switch to the top left so that it matched the window layout. Reeeeeee 😁
Similar problem with my kids power wheels i simply pulled it apart and cleaned it up I know that may not be an option as you have to warranty your work
Aftermarket power windows. Because hand cranking is so burdensome, lol.
When I was a kid it was impressive to have power steering and brakes, times have changed….yes I'm old er.
I’m going to pistol whip the next person who says shenanigans!!!
The sun roof drain tube needs to be cleaned out ,. Passenger side
Did you find a replacement switch?
Love the vids, Ray!! Hope all is getting better with ya’ll in FLA!
Glad to see you back at the shop!
Only Chrysler would sell a 30k vehicle with crank windows and a minivan engine. Unfortunately, I love off roading so I own one of these master pieces.
Water in the pass floor of a JK is either a leaking top or a plugged ac drain. And that's some janky aftermarket window setup.
welcome back ray..!!
Oh dang…thought you were back.
Ever thought about releasing your "doo-dee-doo-doo-doo" thing as a ring tone?
If it were me I would've stolen one of the rear windows switches so they would've had both front windows… but to be honest I wouldn't have thought about it in the moment most likely… another great video though hope the clean up is going ok
Hi Rain Man our power just came back on and I just got the chance to come in and update I hope everything is well I still have the appointment with you for the car but I hope everything is good with you and your family that's more important than cars and videos.
Just curious why you didn't move the good switch to the driver's side. Anyway, good to hear that things will get back to normal soon. I'm wondering how many cars will have water in them for you to work on.
Ironically I am watching his mechanic's videos as my key snaps in the ignition of my 2012 Jetta 2.5 SE…………… Sigh. Dealership claims I have to tow the car to them to program the new key. Even though its an old style keyed ignition they say the transponder is still required to start the vehicle. I'm not sure I believe this to be true for my vehicle. And even if it is I have a couple brain cells. So im going to try to use the new key to twist the ignition and hold the old key with the programmed transponder near it to at least start and drive the car to them. lol
I probably would have just moved one of the rear window switches up to the top and plugged it back in. That way both driver and passenger front windows were functional as the back windows usually aren't always down.
Why didn't you stick the passenger side switch in the driver side spot, then run the wire harness out the hole for the passenger switch? Then you could have simply plugged it in and popped it back in place when you get a replacement, instead of taking the dash apart again.
Hang in my friend. The worm will turn.
People installing power windows in a jeep wrangler are just to lazy to crank down the window.
Fait things
Glad you & yours came thru!
How could the Jeep owner not notice the lack of clickage on that switch.
Ideally he can contact the seller of that kit and get a new switch sent out, easy fix as those switches only click into place and don't need the dash pulled apart to remove them.
Least that crud came apart OK..like Military interchange ability..minus goofy sailors.
i want to know ray's opinion on Chrysler
i work at discount tire and absolutely despise Chrysler/dodge/jeep/ram
could have used the switch for the back window….
Hi, Ray from Canada Vancouver It's so good to see you YOU SIR don't just have viewers but people that care about you! NOW I can stop biting my nails so happy your safe😃
Thank you, Newsome and the Democrats. Because of you, gas is more expensive in California than it is in Alaska.
Oh wow that wiring is really shit. I can't believe how someone could do such a bad job of installing those :/.
Honestly people if you do not know what you are doing then get someone who does to do it.
Glad you and your family are okay and no issues with out of the normal postings 🙂 I think we can understand why!
We all like your videos. But you and your family being safe during that storm was priceless.
shop seems ok.
Camera work is always great.
😂 I mean you could just used the rear window switches also but hey as long as the driver got control that’s all that matters
Take your time. No rush. We will be here 😊
Pretty sure that's a SPAL window and door lock kit. Should be easier to find that switch.
Those dash panels remind me of the "Snap-Tight" models I used to put together as a kid.
On today's episode of Florida man
It says cancer… because it's a Jeep thing….. you wouldn't understand. 😀
I like to add a tether to the wire connector for the replacement process. Oh, I see! Welcome back safely post Ian!
Coulda swapped in a REAR window switch for even less inconvenience.
only if Chrysler made chicks that went down as quick as that window did the world
would be a better place
Typical Jeep and Jeep driver. JUNK
Ray is the perfect amount of crazy.
You are very adaptable and intuitive. Swap out the switch so driver has working window and all windows are up for rain or A/C until you can get or adapt a part . Way to go.
You do what you got to do
Just pull the switch apart and put the copper lever that popped out of its cradle back in it's place and put switch back together and it will work just fine i have rebuilt about 30 of them cheap switches only takes 10 min tops
I would have moved the window switch to the other hole and left the wires for the passenger switch hanging out the hole. That way when you get the new switch you can just connect it and shove it in without having to take the console apart again.
Glad you've weathered that storm, but the likelihood of that Jeep's is of most certain doom.
It's A Jeep Thing
Are you back up and running rainman?
So was this Jeep converted from manual windows too power windows why couldn’t they just run the wires through the doors harness
Glad your back safe now you have an excuse to get that new chain saw seriously thenk the lord that wasn't worse
We don't care about Jeeps! We want to see hurricane stuff!
Totally kidding, Ray! Love your channel and appreciate you keeping it going. I wouldn't worry too much about "daily uploads". Just get everything kind of back to normal. I hope P** S*** in Sarasota hasn't flooded because I've been hearing about secondary flooding from rivers. No matter. You'll do fine and we'll be here when you're back up.
Mileage unknown. Ray is off his game, but still an awesome TECH. Cheers
that water, they were preparing you for the storm is all
Great video Ray, but why didn't you pull the electric window switch's connector out of the panel so you simply could have plugged a newly purchased window switch and plugged it in from the front of the panel? That way you wouldn't have to take the dash apart again.
I wonder if those are factory switches since they seem to be integrated so well.
Who the heck puts power windows on a jeep? Sheeesh
Good day to you Ray I watched all your videos about the storm and it broke my heart I’m really glad that you are all safe no need to be sorry see you again soon take care 🇦🇺
Jeeps have their issues, that is for sure.
Jeeps have come so far! Mine had holes in the floor that water shot thru when you ran thru it – but it just ran right back out. Maybe it was an experimental one that was way ahead of its time…. Power windows? Well, they had zippers that went around the clear part. The doors were made from 3/8" steel rod and canvas.
Great that you and your family are safe
Those look like bmw switches
Looks like they might be Electric-Life Power Window Switch 99020-B
I am glad you made it through the fun, I had no doubt your skills would get you through it. I miss my PTO over-driven gen-set I had on my Dodge!
