Do you replace ball joints in pairs?

"HA! My dad used to say, "Good enough for the girls I go with." That is totally not why I came to this video; I was checking out the Soobby Ball Joint Puller. Stay safe!

Excellent demo, Eric. Trying to think of a way to make this tool is cool, but the price of steel around here is so high I can't make one of these for much less. I've seen guys use threaded rod, a short segment of pipe, and a small weld. Even that way, when you look at the hardware bill it is almost the same. I hate single application tools.

Subaru seems to go out of the way to make their stuff a pain in the ass to work on

Thank you very much friend I just ordered it by amazon I tried too much with other tools and I am not successful now I will wait three days for the article to arrive to see how it works for me

Thank you for the video, this worked great on the driver side but not so much on the passenger side… Threaded the tool onto the ball joint and foolishly tried to use my impact to make a quick job of it, now its the next day and the ball joint is still in the car! The threads ripped out of the cylinder on the tool and the ball joint. That's what happens when you try to go to fast kids! Live and learn I guess. ๐Ÿ™‚ But thank you for introducing me to this option, didn't know that tool was available outside of the Matco/SnapOn trucks.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Quintin Toro says:

Where can I get those ball joints?

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars David Mann says:

I have a question on the ball joint pinch bolt . Do you think 37315 pneumatic bolt breaker made by Mayhew would work on these bolts ? This along with big nasty might be a game changer ? Curious to see you do a review on this . I think 37316 is the 1/2 option .

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars scott ingle says:

Those ball joints come out real easy with an air hammer. Bring out big nasty. Works even in the rust belt hit the edge with big nasty pop that out in seconds. Just another tip if you don't want to waste money on another tool.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars jawojnicki says:

Eric sorry about that mean comment that I left on your first video where you introduced to the puller 1.0. I didn't know that you mentioned in this video that it's useless without having a lift

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Edwin Brewer says:

Those TTX ball joints are so awesome. I donโ€™t think I have ever been so excited about discovering a new line of parts! Love them. Some of them even come with press adapters. Super cool!

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars johnaclark1 says:

I bought this tool and tried it on a 2010 Forester. The threaded rod stripped out on the first try. It pulled it out a ways and then got tight and messed up the threads. I finally got it out, though. Did the second ball joint, with an axle nut to space out from where the threads were messed up on the rod and it only got half way before finishing off stripping out the forcing nut. So, now the threaded rod is trashed and the nut is trashed. I had to use just the adapter and a slide hammer to get it the rest of the way out. I like the Astro stuff Eric has recommended but this tool didn't hold up for me. The adapter went in the slide hammer & puller kit I have and the rest will likely end up in the trash unless I can get a new threaded rod, washer, and nut.

Yes, the dreaded Subaru pinch bolt. Not made for the Salt Belt. When I touch one of those, and if all goes well, or not……..I modify the original concept for a "Through Bolt" set up. Winterizing one Rig at a time! Love your videos Eric! From the Far Northeast-MaineiacNorth

I would have liked to see the new part installed.

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars rsx123 says:

I just leave the lower nut in with the balljoint still in the control arm and just hit the control arm till it pops out.

Hi Eric, man i really like your diagnostic tools. Theyre invaluable. After watching your videos, i ordered a new scan tool. Mine was about ten years outdated. You can tell a good mechanic by looking at his toolbox and tools. Keep up the awsome videos. Youre the MAN! Rev.

I was told to get a pressure test on my steering pump and lines. I asked a mechanic to see if he could do it. He said there is no such thing but I knew there was. He also said my steering pump was bad. On a Ford Taurus the right side of the rack and pinion it does have issues the boot has fluid in it then bad rack however. The pressure line was loose so the o rings were janky we replaced them now steers easy but still wandering. But for now steering works. Any hoot. Any idea how to pressure test my steering a diy thingy. Maybe
