…Eric Smidt is the owner and CEO of Harbor Freight Tools which he co-founded with his father, Allan Smidt, in 1977. Under Eric's leadership, Harbor Freight Tools has become the leading discount tool retailer in the United States with over 1,200 stores and 23,000 associates nationwide. Each Harbor Freight!!!!!
I'm gonna have to take a trip to Harbor Freight. The ones that I borrowed from the parts stores were bent the wrong way, so that the harder you turned them, the more they slid off.
Well done again, Ray. Totally enjoyable video about a car I will never own. Great!!!
You make it look easy , however I know blood , sweat and tears …
Ray who this people?
I like my HF tie rod popper. Just put a bit of tension on it and give the business end a little tappy-tap-tap. No need to go gonzo on the tension that way.
Any cotter that comes out without a drill is a good cotter pin. It hurts my soul to find a bent nail where s cotter pin should be. (not uncommon on farm serviced equipment around here). If there is a nail in place of a cotter, beware what lurks behind it….
I have a toolbox full of good tools, I have a cabinet full of "horrible freight" tools. Those are the ones I use occasionally that don't need to be precise. Nothing wrong with it. If I bought snap-on for everything I'd never pay anything off. LOL
Well imagine they would hurt hell of a lot
Dooooodly—Dooo!
Step 1. Remove car from axle.
Buen día saludos desde Guatemala
Love all your sexual references you use so sly , during your comments. Back side lube always works. Remember to lube everything first and you want have all that trouble with your whobley bit.
So the old fashioned hammer method is no longer used
Ray, I know the tie rod/ball joint separator can be scary as it holds a lot of potential energy. Have you ever tried screwing the bolt down so there's plenty of strain on the joint then tapping with a ball peen hammer? It's a lot less dramatic release of energy, and does end the problem of tools turning into missiles. Just a thought anyway…
I had to remove this knuckle on my 06 fusion and it was a pain. It took way too long to take it out.
It's a stirrup mount
lubricant equals motion lotion
You didn’t even spit on the end just hammer her in dry u animal 😂
🖒🤠
It's called a "Damper Fork"
A couple love taps to the steering knuckle with a hammer and that will drop right off, not near as scary either…
I'm so done with Fords I stopped buying them about 5 yrs ago. Ford does not make good vehicles anymore besides there heavy duty trucks in my opinion
NO DISASSEMBLE !!! Johnny Five alive !!!!
"I am holding this with my stomach. "
Been there a time or two myself.
Why Yes , your super powers do impress!
This is probably buried. Matco does have a 3/8 or1/2 adapter for the liner impact driver. You fit a socket on the end and use the nut as the impacting aria. Uses all of the thread engagement as load bearing. I can get you the 3/8 part number. Fantastic tool. Great for ball joints/ tie rod ends.
Incredible speed, I must say, you're working super fast !
I'm not a mechanic but I found your videos somehow and I was hooked. I have always found repairing things fascinating and you make them awesome to watch thanks 👍
I buy from harbor freight degreaser and wd40 never tools looked like the tool damaged the tie rod end
Cause the lube makes everything slide better killed me 😂😂😂
It's a Ford Confusion btw.
That Milwaukee impact is slick. I don’t work on my car enough to justify the expense though. I have a little one that works well on motorcycles. I suspect Bertha there has a bit too much torque for 10mm bolts.
Every time the phone rings and he doesn’t do di do di do I do it anyway lol.
Ray just want to get it out of the way i love your vids. But the bushings need to be tightened while in their “on ground” resting position either from jacking up the hub or putting the vehicle on the ground. Its gonna tear the bushings if you continue to do it like this.
I still envy at the complete lack of rust.
You did it again…. you used an impact driver on an axle nut….. finna kill the wheel bearing
Dumb question, if you never reuse cotter pins, then why not just cut the bow and pull the janked ends out?
I have an f350 ford superduty and a toyota sequoia and both are better designed than that.
What a terrible design. Give you credit staying positive during the never ending. Trap
👍
@Rainman Ray's Repairs It's interesting how, even given the sheer variety of plier-like tools out there, you learn very quickly (or inevitably) that diagonal cutters are the most efficient tool to remove cotter pins. They grip the pin well and are angled in such ways as you can walk the pin and get advancing bites. If all else fails, you can cut it without having to go to the drawer for a different set. AND they are the most likely to be in the drawer to begin with, as all the needle-nose pliers and vise grips are probably in use/missing. 😀
If I lived in FL..Close to your shop, I would totally give you my business. Atlanta is unfortunately a wee-bit far. Love watching your vids.
It's a sad thing when impacts won't work….
If your scared of that ball joint tool, use a ball hammer to tap the joint a few times. should pop out.
why is this so 8nteresting to watch?
Be careful when hammering drive shaft head as outer joint may go too far in and it is difficult to backup it if lock ring goes fully through the hole.
I have a ball joint separation tool like that. I lube the bolt and crank up the pressure then a sharp hammer blow on the top lever easily pops out the taper. I’ve done it with tightening force alone but that puts me too close to the bang when it does let go.
Never take your vehicle to this people
