the expansion valve was fine. It clearly has a leak. Just have them come back later if issue come back.
AC will blow colder if you turn the fan speed down. Alot dont know this.
you cant check air temp with a laser. You need to use a thermometer.

hey boss, i respect your opinion and what you do for a living. I have a question for you about a certain vehicle. what do you think of the Toyota Prius? have you had many in your shop? If so, are there any common issues you have encountered with these cars? The specific model years I'm looking at is 2013-2015.
As for the hybrid battery itself, I already educated myself on replacing that myself so its not a concern, I'm looking for other common issues
Worst shop screwup for me was driving a Saab with approximately 2,000 miles on the odometer through one of those big metal and glass garage doors. Well… "through" kind of makes it seem like I successfully exited the building. To be clear here, I was not successful at exiting. Partial success, at best – everything from the top half of the windshield back did remain inside the shop. It was… Well, if you ever want to silence a dozen people who are yelling back and forth across a noisy shop, using a customer's nearly new and somewhat expensive vehicle to demolish a garage door that is, itself, not exactly inexpensive… worked for me. It was quiet as the vacuum of outer space. Er… Except for the occasional piece of glass landing on the hood.
That was my ninth day there, I think. No, I did not get fired.
reminds me of when i just came out of mechanic school, customer bugged me about his ac problem and i forgot to put the oil in first, the foreman saved my ass lol nothing happened to his engine but it could have been a disaster. don't let the customer watch over you while you are working, make them sit in the waiting room.. never happened again in 40 years.

So best way to get the crush washer off is put the drain plug on the appropriate wrench or socket and use a pair of pliers to twist it off
heres a tip from a kia lube tech 😅, if them crushwashers are stuck like that, get a pair of pliers and grab the washer, and ratchet the drainplug out. I deal with that WAY too much from those if they were say done at say quick lube shops (1 starting with a J, or another with a P perhaps

I threw my hands up too Ray. Mistakes happen, probably a good idea to leave that job. You learned your lesson, but they would have never forgotten that one time you did something dumb. "Can't even trust this guy to do an oil change." You would have been stuck on cleanup duty.
You're not the only one that messed up before. 🙂 I was doing too many things to a vehicle at one time and forgot to put the oil in the engine. It was a customers car. :O I started hearing a knocking sound when I pulled back into the shop and I saw the containers of oil still sitting in the floor. I was like,"OMG". I was lucky enough that I pulled the oil pan off and I replaced the Mains and rod bearings after I used emery cloth to clean the aluminum bearing off the crankshaft. Luckily it ran perfect and never had any problems after that. They are still driving that car today. Thats been a long time ago and the car is still running. I lucked out. 🙂
To many lazy mechanics did not change the washer and now with repeated tightening's the inside diameter spread and locked itself in place? What's new?

So when I worked at Kia i found the easiest way to remove those crush washers was a wrench and channel locks. Maybe that will help in the future lol. Great content man!

I almost got fired for something that wasn't my fault a few years ago. Was working on a Kia Sportage doing an oil change and I think tires or a rotation, very busy day I pulled the O ring off the cartridge filter housing and I git pulled right as I was getting done With it to do another car, boss has another guy take over who was a position above me didn't look to see if the O ring was on (never changed oil filters) installs filter fills engine with oil starts vehicle and boom oil spill. Needless to say I got a write up because management sucked and played the favoritism card. I no longer work for that shop I put my two week notice in and was done Xmas Eve of last year.
Just got my 2000 eclipse back today and found out my oil leak is from block side cylinder 3 exhaust port is cracked and been driving it like that for 10 years.

Evacing a system to 500 microns or less under a decay test is required to pull all moister from a system correct it is however not because of freezing… its to prevent moister turing to acid over time and to preserver the life time of the system

It's the small things that count, like taking the minute to put the customer's vehicle inside for the night, you don't have to and no one will ever know, it's like the shopping cart theory.
Punch a hole in the bottom of the filter before you open the drain plug….it’ll drain and won’t be as bad when you take it off

In 2007 I bought a brand new truck. Got home and found it Dripping oil at drain plug. Took it back. Got called later that day. It’s ready. We replaced the drain plug. Which was a standard way they did so as you don’t lose the engines oil. Went to pick it up and the Service Manager met me and said want to show you this. We thought it was just the washer but when it was out we saw that the drain plug had a crack all the way through it. You could see it in the metal of the plugs head and in the threads. It went kinda sideways as it went through it. Really interesting. No problems since. Well it ate an alternator and regular old everyday battery replacement.
When a malleable washer is compressed, its inner diameter reduces and its outer diameter increases.
Hence it grips the undercut tightly.
You've gotta be pretty smooth to do all of this in under an hour
