In this video we have a look at a Buick LeSabre that the customer replaced his own ECM on. He was told by another shop that this would fix his low power complaint. Now he had to have the car towed here because it will not crank, and NONE of the functions of the car seem to work. It does not take long to find out the whole story! As we have learned many times before, there is allllllways more to the story. -Enjoy!

Curious why you didn't start with the horn?
You are right about that!
Couldn’t have a disabling Alarm system on it
Could it be a starter relay
Could be an in-line fuse somewhere blown
Anti theft can kill the starting and sets of the horn
That’s an odd place for GM to put the ECU
Man I had to shop around to find a mechanic like this for years,
you are the only one that I would let near my car..2 thumbs up
Who else laughed when the Music came on ?…. 😂🤣😂🤣
I am so leaning towards a blown fuse
One side of 3 hole fuse slot is hot at all times the other side is keyed power
Another awesome video.
Day of the weekend warriors is over when it comes to electronics. Kid should have just brung it you from the start.
good job boss.;
Someone on Youtube replaced the CKP sensor thinking that it was causing the 4000 rpm limit and was disappointed when it didn't change anything.
“Owner said it’s got nothin’”
turns key
“Ohhh he meant NOTHIN’ nothin’…like not even nothin’”
It would be so easy for manufacturers to build a burned fuse indicator LED into each of the fuse positions. Cost pennies. Would be such a great time saver for everyone. It would eliminate a lot of trips to the shop.
I don't think I'd have the patience for that job. I used to repair all my own cars and was pretty good at it. I could do just about anything. But when you have to work on a car that has just about everything broken, its got to be very discouraging.
I remember once a relative asked me to check the brakes on her Pinto. Jacked it up and was able to immediately diagnose the issue. I told her the front brakes were gone. She said she knows, they don't work. I said, no, they are gone. As in, there are no front brakes. She had worn them down to the point that the front discs became detached and the calipers both snapped off. I didn't know it was physically possible. Wish we had cell phone cameras back then.
Kid didn't need to know anything about that new computer. He just needed to compare the two and see a difference and be like "huh… that ain't right…"
Ahhh the pain of not being allowed to fix stuff.
Pressure test cat?
Good video
Lmao poop and laughter never heard that
Moving on !!
Cant believe , you took so long to check the fuses .
I swapped a 3800 into my 1986 Pontiac Fiero. Best engines ever, IMO. As far as sending a car to you, I don't mind swapping in some new parts 1st just because. MAF sensors, IAC, TPS, IAT, coil packs, plug wires, etc. It eliminates that possibility and I have new parts. Sort of an electrical system tuneup.
Knock out the guts of the cat and put a anti fouler on the o2 sensor. Lol
Why didn't you just be honest and tell him it's not a computer and replace starter he is going to get stranded
due we all call it sparkage lol
New computers need to be programmed otherwise the car won’t run
So did you charge them $2500 to replace those two fuses
HEADPHONE USERS BEWARE 4min MARK LOUD BEEP
Has to be a relay
right on ! put a new Potato in
You would make a good doctor! Never listen to the patient!
Got into the serious electrical issues of the vehicle and resolved current issues of electrical system recommending further action. Excellent. Debo
Im betting its the body ground…
Try in neutral
Try in neutral
If there's no nothin might be one of those main fuses over there…..
I love that engine
Freaking ding dong kids 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Once you find a good mechanic…take good care of that relationship.
Very very good work !!!
LOL !!! . Don’t tell this customer that you can do , and they can do it , they end up damage another PCM LOL !!!
I used to work on car electronics. As far as I remember the fuse slot being a "three prong fuse" for accessory specifically can mean that the 2 prong traditional fuse can be moved from one position to the other to make the cigarette lighter12v with or without ignition. IDK about Buick specifically but I know it exists out there.
You Sir ! , Were born to be a mechanic. You're a natural !!. Really liked your reaction. When the radio just came on for no reason. And the tranny abruptly jumped into gear. Keep up with your great patience and the awesome analizing tech work. Kudos to South Main Auto Repair LLC
