    They could always spend a few pennies to connect the clock to the cell tower time base… or at worst a few dollars for a WWV clock that uses the atomic clock time base…. But that is way too easy!!!

    They should hire a mechanic on the auto design team to be sure any repairs don’t endanger life or limb of said mechanic!!! But common sense was never a strong point of any engineer I have ever met!!!

    So I commented a few days ago that the old negative cable looked ok. This morning the Ray gods taught me a lesson. I kid you not, our Escalade was totally dead. While working to jump start it, I saw sparks off the negative cable at the negative terminal. Wouldn't you know it, my cable is bad too! Thanks for the tutorial Ray!

    Check the main connector under the fuse box, I just did the same repair for a friend, replaced the ground cable which is a weak link. I looked at the fuse panel and found corrosion on the two big spade terminals feeding the main fuse box. That made more sense than the ground wire. I cleaned the ground surfaces and applied some grease also. They haven't had a problem since. It had the same symptoms, kept losing power at random times to random accessories.

    I noticed another possibly related problem: a marine/deep cycle battery is being used in a passenger vehicle. Deep cycle batteries are not designed for passenger vehicle charging system requirements and will harm alternators and reduce the life of the deep cycle battery as opposed to installing the correct battery for the vehicle.

    On newer vehicles do the location of the grounds matter more? Mine is pretty simple. The largest ground cable goes to the block. There's a smaller cable that splits off close to the battery and leads to the inner fender, and then at the rear of the engine there's a short braided strap that connects the back of the cylinder head to the firewall.

    Car clocks are indeed a major source of frustration. The digital OEM dash clock runs a minute per month fast. So, I get an aftermarket digital radio. Other digital radios using the same broadcasting system are perfectly able to get the correct time from the transmitter network. However, this car radio's internal clock does not do that. Need to set the time manually and It runs approximately 2 minutes per month fast. Such atrocities are never mentioned in the specifications of a digital car radio: warning: this digital radio does not sync its internal clock to the network's time source. Very frustrating, annoying and needlessly irritating. The tech is there but they refuse to implement it properly. I'm almost ready just disable the time display in the radio and open up the dash in order to replace the OEM clock for a DIY solution that will sync time every time it gets in reach of my WiFi.
    By the way: nice gloves. We got a very good look at them in this video.

    Abrasive wheels and self tappers make easy new grounds. I like to spray terminal protection on my grounds and old grounds are typical a bit crusty anyway
