Glad you sprayed it and made it shiny then smeared gear oil over it. They make inexpensive pumps for this.

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jeff Hoag says:

Gear lube pump for marine use is very nice to have to fill diffs with. Cheap, fits top of bottle and cleans up nice for reuse.

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Louis Alicea says:

Love the scotch brite tool that you used to clean around the lug bolts where'd you get it

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tom Kennedy says:

"later failure analysis showed that the bolts failed because they were torqued to 30 ft/lbs instead of 29". "oops", said Ray.

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ammanzi1 says:

Perhaps the shop will invest in a pump apparatus wether a manual pump or machine

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars bivroyg6 says:

Spare tire appears to be in the way…..if only there was an easier way to fill this thing!!! lawlz

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rainard Human says:

Dont we get like a gasket for the diff cover … ??? sealant just seems so sad. Please help

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars woodworker Royer says:

Wait, was the sing explicit, or were you two singing the lyrics because of how easy it was to put on that part?

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Xombi Xombi says:

Where did the wire brush come from please. The one that went over the studs when you were cleaning up the axle flange. Good vid.Thanks.

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars starving artist says:

Do you do ring and pinion setups very often ?

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dro says:

What torque wrench model is that?

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars FangBlah says:

I hear (a lot) that you don't want to use a friction modifier with the G80 locker in trucks and SUV's , but you do use it in the G80 in cars; I guess both have the same RPO, but one is a locker and one is limited slip; any thoughts?

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Rewijk says:

That's another fine mess you made of it , but anyway you got the oil in there. Great job again Ray! Greetz John.

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Forever Computing says:

Use a syringe or pump. Neat and quick. Ideal for extraction or refilling.

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jon L says:

Note to self: DO NOT spray clean the gearbox cover until after filling….:)

Now going to find and watch Pt 2 and then 1 in reverse, since this was first one watched, RAINMAN STYLE ……CLICK……….

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars TJ Kaczynski says:

Sometimes Rainman you need to slow down! Great Wrenchman you are .

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Donald Feltham says:

Nice video Ray, however friction modifiers are not to be used in an Eaton G80 differential. It's a locker and not limited slip.

I saw a young Hispanic lady park an esacalade in the handy cap spot at the ups store then she jumped out like an Olympic gymnast. No placard, just an ignorance for American norms and laws with a healthy sense of entitlement. I hate Cadillac for that reason.

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars blueovalfan23 says:

those cover bolts.. you had it made. on my truck i had to weld a wrench to the them because rust took took them. socket didn't work, driving a smaller sock didn't work either. it was a bad time. pinion bearings, caught early rest of the bearings was ok somehow. still running it like a year later.

the customers hearing things better, it's mc d's drive through lol. i'm telling ya, a couple foot is that from a brick wall you'll hear things on other people's cars. i've been the guy gassing their car in drive through trying figure out if that faint rattle in the engine is me.

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Charlie Lambert says:

ya wont torque a caliper bolt but will a diff cover?? 😊

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Charlie Lambert says:

cross pin retainer IS a loctite fastener! Blue & dont overtighten it

The fill hole is the dill hole!
    😂😂😂😂

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Old Time Farm Boy says:

Just in case you do not already know it, those plugs with the square recess that requires a square tool to remove. The square recess is tapered. The square on your ratchet is straight. Only the very end comes into contact with the plug recess. If you get a plug that is extremely tight and you do not use a taped adapter on you ratchet or breaker bar it will break the square on your tool.

I found that out the hard way removing a plug from a diesel engine block.

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars tom ashton says:

How come you dont put a dab of anti seize of a dab of oil on those rusty bolts your putting back in on the sway bar?

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joe Turnip says:

You earned my "Like Click" when you issued the phrase "To Insure Maximum Shininess".

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars tom ashton says:

dumb question guys, does that diff fluid run all the way to those seals for the bearings?

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars tom ashton says:

When I service my diiffs on my jeep I use the black goo on the cover and the diff, but let em cure for 15 minutes, then finger tight, then a final deal some folks use way to much goo, and if its in the engine thats not good, the stuff can pack up a oil pump and even clog a oil filter. heres a tip for you off road jeep guys and gals, make sure the diff vent hose is located as high up as you can place it and put a loop on it and maybe a small filter on the end, the last thing you need is muddy water getting in your gears, my vent hose,s are way longer then stock

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robert Montgomery says:

    What is a siz wheel?

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars D says:

should have just used a hose in the first place and not lowered the sway bar for the oil fill.

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars tom TKE says:

I'm still wondering… which means I need educating… 😵‍💫haha😵‍💫 If the bracket that holds the caliper is slightly distorted, cannot this bracket be ground in the areas of interference with rotor? Isn't the wheel's alignment UNAFFECTED by this bracket? Who can EDUCATE ME? 🤯

Added thinking (yikes, my brain thinking chemicals are almost all depleted… who can survive a paucity of brain chemicals) a distorted caliper attach bracket would yield a caliper askew too, right? And that this would result in faster wearout of pads or just skewed wear or what else?

Summary of my conjecture 🥴 The only problem(s) with a bent caliper attach bracket is NOISY interference with the brake rotor… and slightly askewed caliper assembly to then angle the pad's contact with rotor until accomodating wearin is achieved. The alternative is the 🤑🤑🤑 expensive RR repair. Good grief Charlie Brown!!😇😇

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Erik_DK says:

Normally, it's the inner lips, that you have to be careful about, when inserting the shaft.

No, thank you sir for making these videos! 👍

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Adam Herman says:

can you provide a link to the brush that fits over the wheel studs? thanks!

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dale Mann says:

may i ask why you dont put plenty of greese in thr diff instead of the oil i know its a stupid question but id like to why oil & not greese thanks ray keep up the great vids

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Old Nightrun says:

How does the parking brake work? I saw only a hydraulic slave cylinder, does that mean the parking brake relies solely on hydraulics?

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Lawrence says:

Ray as a comedian you need to show a video of you blowing up a car. Come on, you’re American, blow something up.

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joseph Piarulli says:

Ray you need one of the drill-driven fluid scavenger units that come with hose kit and all when you deal with these tight-fit section fill ups, make your life a lot easier

Filling the differential = squeezing the pig??

What kinda Moron puts glue on the cover then finagals it. Around clean stuff?

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars TheBumLife FerLife says:

I always hated axle work. When I tried to pass my test for my MOS in the army, 63 Yankee track vehicle mechanic, torsion bar replacement, which is not too dissimilar from what you're doing right now, nearly failed me LOL

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Keith Rimmer says:

Hi Ray it's always a good idea to check the breather on the diff seeing as both hub seals were passing oil just a thought bud

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Muis says:

    Two bolts, one caliper…

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joe Seabert says:
