That exploding retread thing happened to me twice. You have to swerve all over the road to avoid flying rubber debris.

I knew a guy in college that drove a Wrangler , a 18 wheeler was passing him and a lug nut came off the truck , went through the drivers window , pierced through his left cheek , knocked out his teeth and landed on his tongue …… never caught the truck either .

When I did a transmission fluid change on my Fit I stuck a length of clean plastic hose on the end of the funnel. Using 3 funnels seems a bit awkward.

Working at Goodyear right out of high school. Five words – "RV 16.5 inch split rims". What a nightmare.

"What do you mean?" he said. "Do you wish me a great day, or mean that it is a great day whether I want it or not; or that you feel great today; or that it is a day to be great on?"

May your day be as pleasant as you are.

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Steve McRichards says:

I wonder if they got a trans flush at that VIOC they went to. Honda specifically states to NEVER flush the automatic transmission. NEVER. NOT EVER. I suspect old fluid and the wrong fluid was put in the last time it was serviced; whether it was serviced right is another thing.

This is the first time I have heard any of your stories while driving and checking what your work has accomplished on any car. That being said! you must have done a great job to not only forget about the troubles the car had to begin with. But be comfortable enough driving it to tell us a great story. Give yourself a high five on this one.

I've had a semi tire blow up next to me while I was overtaking him. Pushed me one lane to the left, 2 doors pushed inwards, windows gone, and pieces of metal and rubber from the tire sticking out of my right side panels.
Ears were ringing for days.. The amount of energy stored in those tires is insane.

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robert Montgomery says:

Can you reset the transmission and have it relearn the owners driving style?

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mary Mulrooney says:

My ex and I had a semi tire explode while we were beside/behind the truck on our motorcycle and it scared the be jibbers out of us, couldn't see for the dust, yet managed to miss all the chunks of tire.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mary Mulrooney says:

I know if I am accelerating, car is about to shift into next gear, but I decelerate it will make a feeling in the trans because it was about to shift up then had to stop that. Don't know how to describe the feel of the trans.

I lost a fellow high school friend. His Dad had a tire shop and he would go work there after school. He was airing up a pickup truck 16.5 split rim tire and it exploded and smashed him into the roof. Tragic. No tire cage. Dad closed it for a while. Then sold the business.

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars peter smith says:

why would you not change the filter after the first flush?

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Doctor Seuss says:

And always take the driver into the equation. Is she a stomp on the pedal type?

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars yal100 says:

May need a shift solenoid change? "Easy-ish" to replace on a Honda transmission, no need to open her up. Mileage sounds about right for that kind of thing. Live with it or change the solenoids.

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jay Em says:

This behaviour will occur on the fit if you let the fluid get too bad. Happened to me.

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Matt Linder says:

The customers an idiot there's nothing wrong. They're driving it in sport mode… If the car gear selector is in the sport mode the car is not going to shift past third till you manually use the paddle shifters. And if it's the base model without the paddle shifters they need to put it back in the drive position to get access to 4th and 5th gear

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Matthew Cottrill says:

Hey Rainman, check for a transmission filter on the Honda’s. It isn’t included in the maintenance schedule and never gets changed, and most Honda and Acura techs don’t even know it’s there. It is located above the main solenoid and looks like a smaller oil filter, it is on the cold side of the transmission return line located on the drivers side of the engine on the v6’s. Also while in there, pop out the solenoids and there are screens inside that can become gunked up with debris. Easily clean the screens with air or brake cleaner. Drain and fill with dw-1 Honda atf only, one drain and fill will give you approximately sixty percent new fluid in the system. Voilà, it’s like a brand new car the way it shifts and drives now. You are welcome Honda people, look into it on the internet. Type in your make model and year along with transmission fluid filter. It will fix hard shifts, shudder, and hesitation from the transmission. I hope this helps somebody else other than me and the forums I learned these facts from.

OMG I cringe everytime you slam the car door into the lift sides. OMG I would kill you, lol.

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Darenator1 says:

You checked the level wrong! Every Honda automatic I have ever owned manual states to "check with engine off". You have way overfilled the transmission. Honda automatics are very picky on the fluid. Always use Honda fluid.

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Snadzies says:

ATF still has a red tint to it, that's better than some ATF I've seen.

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Nunya Biz says:

Now imagine that big rig tire blow out while squatting right beside it (a mere 18 inches away) inflating it, when at 100psi the side wall blows out (zipper style) the Michelin brand(?) Was notorious for such a failure.
I was knocked (blown back) about 8 feet away. Started using a 10ish foot whip line right after that.

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mike Sunken says:

Never use transmission additives it swells the seals and eventually causes them to fail.

When I was 16, in about 2005 or so, and had only had my drivers license for a really short time. My dad wanted me to get some experience driving in a place with more people than we have on the roads in Maine. He also wanted me to have to drive more than like 1 hour to some place, so he made me drive from our house in Maine to my brother's college in Springfield, Mass. We were driving a 1996 Honda Accord LE on I-495 in Mass, I'm in the right lane being passed by a truck, and for some reason the truck tire just looked sort of wobbly and I said to my dad, "Hey, do you ever wonder what it would be like if one of those truck tires exploded right next to the driver's door?" My dad doesn't even look up and just say, "Nah… I don't really worry about stuff like that." I had enough time to think something like, "Yeah that would be crazy" and as I was thinking it, BANG! The guy's trailer tire just detonated lol. I just about shat myself and swerved halfway out of my lane and into the shoulder and dodged a bunch of rubber chunks. The truck tire was like 15 feet in front of our hood at the time lol. It was pretty narly.

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars pcspecialistpdx says:

the "conditioner" shouldn't remain in the transmission very long as it will soften and swell up the rubber too much. It is recommended you leave it in long enough to "condition" (fix the problem) and then replace the ATF.

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars RJM says:

Sounds fishy to me – it's ALWAYS the fault of the person that rear ends the car in front – even without a turn signal. Sorry but this rear ender story after the improbable story about the percussion of an exploding truck tire causing radiator tube leaks (yeah right) just sounds like a tall tale.

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Vaibhav Lahoti says:

I got my 2019 Hyundai Elantra. Some stupid lady lost control on the left most lane. I was on the right most lane. When she lost control she stood still. I hit her on on the rear airbag came out and totalled it.

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James Sterling says:

Does your shop use "one size fits all" ATF? When you dispensed the fluid in the container the valve just said "ATF." That year Honda specs Z1 I believe, not the DW1 the newer ones do. Every manufacturer seems to have a different spec.

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bad B rad says:

Every time I rode by a semi on my bike I always would think please don’t blow a tire. I would always speed up to pass faster if i could. Love the channel dude! 🤘✌️
