In this video we have a look at a 2004 Chevrolet that has some turn signals that seem to be possessed ๐Ÿ‘ป! However after examining the facts and gathering the data we quickly see that the problem appears to be just affecting the front indicators. -Enjoy!

Eric I don't uderstand why some viewers would get upset because you mention that some of your work come from other shops. That information is part of the diagnostic procedure,… Keep up the good work

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Canโ€™t Make This Shit Up says:

I changed my fuse and now my flashers only work when I have the car turned off when I crank the cars the stick (no flashing) 2002 Impala

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars sptt 144 says:

That was fun for a diy'er level. I'd be pumped to figure that out!

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Kaler says:

Dude you just saved me from starting my 04 Impala on fire I had the same exact problem to a tee and boom ๐Ÿคฏ fixed thank you.

My turn signal thing started smoking and I had to pour water on it

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars UncleMarks DIY Automotive Fix it channel says:

As a long time viewer, I have never heard you trash a shop that has dropped of a vehicle they were having troubles diagnosing. That is class! As for this ground behind the headlight, it seems to be a common problem. As for not a good video, the other shop missed it, so what is simple for you is not always for others. I think after a point, people panic, fire the parts cannon, panic again and canโ€™t see past a certain point. It happens to the best! I give them credit for stopping there and bringing it to you.

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joe Smith says:

Wow, thanks so much. This just happened with my 2004 Chevy Impala. Same exact scenario with the turn signals and marker lights in the front. Took me no more than 15 minutes to fix after watching this video. It only cost me $3.99+tax for ring terminals. Thank you! Who knows how much my mechanic would've charged (if he even would've figured out it was a ground issue).

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Evans says:

Hey man, thanks a bunch for doing this video …even for being 3 years old. I had this exact same issue on my 02 Impala.. the turn signals would blink at the same time in the dash and the two front turn signals would blink at the same time so i pulled the headlight ground plug off, stripped the wires and just bolted them back to the fram and it fixed the issue. You probably saved me a bunch of money at the repair shop. Thanks a bunch!

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Franks Garage says:

Well, my issue wasnt exactly the same, but for gits and shiggles i went and checked the ground.. you are my saviour!!

Thank you for making this video, and thank you for having such a great channel. I just made the same repair on my mothers 2003. Windshield washers were not working, both front turn signals flashed with left or right, and she had a high beam fault warning on dash(high beams were working)
Had the ground wire pull apart while testing. New ring terminal and all issues went away. Saved her a repair bill! Please keep the great content coming!

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael S Behnke says:

Just curious what did you spray on it at the end?

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jay Does: Life says:

Parts cannon fail. Normally the BCM craps the bed in those, but shame on them for not checking basic things like the ground.

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Stephen Gill says:

Hi Eric well some one used this part cannon to good effect. New parts ladies yeah right love other workshops easy money for a change as you say if you can do then you would think they could but the good old rabbit hole stricks again love vids and Mrs O pops up again.

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars WouterB76 says:

Mr O, fixed it like a pro.

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dave Slish says:

I know you were hoping for a "more interesting" problem, but I'm glad you posted, my wife's 2006 impala had this exact problem. I think it was even the same wire, thanks for the fix!

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Cyrys Von Nachtseite says:

I found a really weird problem with one of the bulb filaments from 1157 dropped across the direction and running lights. That triggered a multitude of problems

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Martin Kucic says:

You probably get tired of hearing that it is a bad ground.
Thatโ€™s something your dad would say!!!๐Ÿ˜

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Martin Kucic says:

I told you it had a bad ground!!

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Martin Kucic says:

I bet you have a bad ground.
    Check the ground wire!!!

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kelvin Hapa says:

Here's one. I was driving tonight. And my lights shut off. All of them. Any idea why? Happens everytime i drive in the next town over. Bumpy roads. Lights blink off. Turn on after 10-20 secs.

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars David Drenzek says:

Eric, thanks for all your good videos trying to educate us. I have an 2003 Impala same problem with hazard blinking with turn signals. I didn't have the loose wire, don't have the electrical tools to test wires. I cleaned the ring terminal put back together it didn't fix for me. Should I have cut off the ring terminal, expose new wire install new ring terminal then re- install. would that have been a better action to take…Thanks Dave..

2001 Chevy Impala LS only the right side headlight work and the fog lights don't work at all

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars lifted r says:

hey i have a similar issue. i have the same housing as the vehicle you worked on here. same issue with directional signals but also accompanied by a high beam out message i have an 03 chevy impala

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Cal Brown says:

The solder you were using to solder the eyelet on the ground wires looks like Acid Core solder. That is a no no for electrical wiring , use only Resin core solder.

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Brandon Kahuna says:

Bought my ex wife a car just like that when we was married. She put 300k+ on it and sold it. Last time I saw it, it was still going strong. Seeing this video reminded me of driving it, it would hold the road and was fun to drive to me.

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Barry Bardo says:

This is exactly what my car is doing guess I'm going to be looking for a bad ground tomorrow thank you very much

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Gee says:

Mine does turn on turn signals then turns it off after couple clicks then i put on hazard lights nd they work fine

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Glen Johnson says:

I am not one to put anyone down, I am sure you are the same, from what I see I beleave this to be true! However, when you get a vehical from another shop there is no reason for you to hold that information back. We should have the background of where the car came from. The better the history the better the chances a good fast diagnosis. There is nothing wrong with being honest!!

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Matthew Mercilliott says:

This short video saved me hours of grief. I didn't have a problem until I turned on fog lamps and the lights went goofy. The wires going to the ground all looked okay, but when I touched them they turned to dust. Just stripped the ends back and stuck them under the washer. All lights work great now.

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michelle Helen Labagnara says:

    I thought it was fun!

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Akersjon 278 says:

I don't know what those other viewers are talking about. I have NEVER heard Eric be disrespectful of other shops. I have only heard him relay relevant information about the vehicles he is working on, so that we as viewers can understand the whole story. And if a vehicle has been worked on by another mechanic (and maybe even had a parts gun fired at it) prior to Eric, then that's just relevant information, and not slanderous in any way in my opinion. Eric always takes the high road it seems to me, he doesn't brag when he fixes problems that has stumped other shops and he even shows us his own mistakes. He does't overcharge or take wild guesses that cost the customer a lot of money (in fact he often goes the extra mile to try to keep costs down for his customers, as long as it doesn't effect safety or correct function in a negative way) and he always stands by his own work, what more could one ask of a repair shop?

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tammy Goodman says:

My turn signals work on back but both front blink fast and both dash signals flash

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars X Folium says:

    Brilliant

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Steven Dunn says:

Diagnosing a problem is almost a lost art these days. It is good to see someone who almost does everything the same way I do when troubleshooting…as I live in Texas I do not deal with rust much, but heat and rodent damage are alive and well here…

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Donald Tabor says:

I also wish it was something more. My 05 impala is a headache when it comes to flashers and headlights… previous owner thought it was a smart idea to wire the headlights hot to an on/off switch under the steering wheel.. Tore all that out, rewired the passenger side headlight (where most of the damage was) and now i can only get the drivers side low beam to work. No highs or lows on passenger and no highs on the driver side. Passenger side front turn signal flashes constantly and fast with the key on or started. Does not flash in the rear, only the front. Operates normally when the multi-switch is pushed up or down but when in the middle the passenger side flashes continuously on the dash and the front. Its a mess… spliced, cut, taped and folded wires everywhere. Anyone have any suggestions for me on this year old video? lol

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Harold Goodman says:

I have an 05 Impala none of the blinkers hazzards or arrow indicators in the dash work but the parking lights do any suggestions I checked the fuse the bulbs there good so I've been trying to find videos to help and I saw this video any advice or suggestions on what it could be

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Richard Bambenek says:

So did the owner end up having to pay for the parts that didn't fix the problem. If so, that's stealing IMHO

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Donnie Robertson says:

    Great job again like always

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mark Wheeler says:

I've been watching enough SMA to notice that the front turn signal lights didn't look very bright.

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jeff Jankiewicz says:

Don`t change a thing, some people just need to bitch about something(they will never be happy). You never name the other shops, never throw them under the bus, that`s why they send you the vehicles they can`t figure out. Thanks for always being professional. Sometimes you can do it, but they cannot. Much respect for the way you treat people, I wish more people did the same.

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars bigmac82 says:

My 05 is doing the same thing thanks for the video this may lead me in the right direction

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hola! John Rodrigues says:

It really doesn't matter where the car came from. It seems you always start from the beginning regardless. It also seems you started something very basic and work your way up from there too to the problem. You're good at what you do.
