In this video I bring you along as I diagnose a 2007 Chevy Classic 4x4 that has some unwanted ABS activation. Or what is considered ABS activation during a non-ABS stop. Please refer to your service manual for the proper repair procedure for your vehicle.

Hey Eric, why would the abs activate on acceleration ? It happens intermittently, no codes but the dash lights up with abs, tcs, stabilitrak and goes away after flashing for a few seconds. โ€˜08 Impala ltz 3.9.
    Thanks!

Man this is good stuff. THANKS! I recently changed the RF speed sensor on my 2006 Silverado due to a random ABS light. I can't recall the exact code but it was RF circuit related. Swapped the sensor with an AC Delco unit. (Could have been a Delco knockoff?) ABS light was now off and all seemed good. Took it for a drive and the ABS would activate at every slow stop. This was a new issue. Put my MAC OTC Genesys clone into live data stream and you could see the NEW RF speed sensor drop out every time. I either had junk new sensor (Made in mainland China) or an issue with the bearing. I ended up changing the whole hub and it fixed it. PS the steering wheel test was dead on correct as well.

    thanks bro

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mike Humble says:

What type of scan tool do you use that allows you to see the senor data?

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Sun n Tan says:

Mine has a mind of its own, some days good roll, some days front brakes drag equally, other days all around, and randomly occurs after it sits a few minutes and you start it up and go again, the problem disappears. 3 mechanics have replaced what they thought it was on each visit, one replaced the ABS system and sensors, another replaced both front hubs, calipers, new hoses to the calipers, and new pads, made no difference, just to my wallet. FL has no salt or corrosion under any car here.

your vids are very helpful and thank you for that. i have a 69 chevy 3500 dump and the brakes are locking up do you have a vid that shows troubleshooting the ABS on the older models?

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars JJ TRUCKER says:

They gave this system the wrong name, they should call them, anti stop brakes, not anti lock.

I appreciate this information. My 2011 Chevy 1500 is doing the same thing. I replaced the OEM hubs with Timken hubs, once it had about 100.000 miles on it. Now I know this problem is probably the speed sensors not working. I'll try that technique you used with the slow speed test.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dan DIY says:

Have you used the grease adapter to add into the bearings before on new bearings? Thanks for all the great vids!

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars D Rock says:

If you've replaced both front sensors and now the scanner is saying both front sensors are activating. What would you check next? Fluid level? Abs module? Or go strait to wheel hub replacement?

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Daniel Charles says:

It happen to me today.. it lock up and dont let me drive it.. lucky to me i have my scaner tool with me and i disconect the two front speed sensors and continue my 200 miles trip back to houston

ABS sucks, How did ever get by without computer controlled brakes for 50 years without ANY problems?

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gary zaprzalka says:

That is a nifty little greasing unit but the problem is back too made in China you know those ball bearings they're just not going to be very round after a period of time and I don't care how much grease you put in there the ball bearing starts to go from round to square I don't give a damn no grease lot of grease it's square and then you got the grind and growls and all that crap and of course the hardening if it's not correct that's also going to cause the bearing to fail lots of times I've looked I've seen even on the Japanese cars where the hub bearings fail is they didn't lose any grease whatsoever and when I open them up they have plenty of grease it's just they lost the hardness but that's a great concept though for lubricating that hole

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars William Rentz says:

He keeps saying โ€œrust jackingโ€ or โ€œjacking it off the speed sensorโ€ but I donโ€™t understand? Can anyone help me
    Understand pleaseโ€ฆ.

    Thanks

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars plkracer says:

A little fluid film on and around the sensor goes a long way to prevent the rust.

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chase Brown says:

My abs light is on on my dash I have a 01 chevy silverado 5.3 liter LS model. but I put all new brakes rotors and calibers and it's still on and I can turn it off but it stays off for a little while then comes back on so maybe the front sensors? There is no rear right. I don't have no fancy obd reader to do all that..

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Sony Young says:

We all make the comment that made in China is Chinese junk. Someone once told me that China can make excellent parts if the customer/client is willing to pay for quality. They make parts per specs given by the client/MOOG. You get what you pay for, right?

Pull the sensor out of the hub, spray with brake cleaners, sand/file porthole, clean senor, reassemble. 9 out of 10 times it corrects it!

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jr Reyes says:

Thank you so much your video was very helpful, I just replaced my wheel hub assembly on my 2004 Silverado SS AWD and my abs light and problem is gone. I did the pull test like you said to see which way it would pull when breaking slow sure enough my brakes would go all the way down and the truck will pull the the driver side so I replace the opposite side ( passenger side) and problem is gone. I notice my hub nut was loose when I replace it ,do you think that would set up the abs ? Regardless I replace the whole hub assembly and it work ๐Ÿ˜€

There's nothing like living in Vegas and buying a 20 year old one owner car and having the underside look as clean as a babies ass. And as far a China is concerned keep voting Democrat and you'll keep getting screwed right where it counts the most.
