In this video I show you one way to repair a 2007 Chevy Truck with no oil pressure being displayed on the gauge and a P0523.
NOTICE:
Some how during the recording of this I lost some footage š I mention that I change the sending unit / sensor and "the screen" Well the part of the video I am missing explains the "screen" This is a cylinder deactivation engine and below the oil pressure switch is a screen. Really simple to change. Just reach in with a 45 degree pick and slide it out once the switch is removed. Sorry š

Sooo. Was it a partiality collapsed lifter or should I try this Iām having the same issue. Usually when unplug a sensor it should not change operations? If itās bad correct?? Iām asking because Iām having the exact same issue with a tic. 5.3 liter Tahoe 2008 and I have no oil pressure but itās I believe just dirty fluid. Ima run some liquid Molly through. 98% partially collapsed lifter?? Thoughts?? Also. ABS I fixed. Rusted out ground plates Underneath the frame. Undercarriageā¦
That's nice fender.
The owner of this truck…

Great show
I have no oil pressure in an 06 2500hd 6.0 225k miles, hearing a lifter ticking, does this rule out sensor and more likely an O ring or oil pump, hopefully not a spun cam bearing.

How do you like the underhood creeper?
WooHoo! an unviewed video!
Had me LOL on " This is a real Gem" š
Thanks for the video. This fixed my truck today. It's no fun to get to.
What if you replace the sensor and you still have the P0523 code? Broken "New" sensor?
No oil peices because of a shorted Oil Pressure sensor Pretty Simple Diag Nice work Eric O surprised he was concerted about no oil pressure and they had a 30 minute drive there š¤š¬š³ @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
Thanksš
It's always fun to watch your videos and listen to your commentary. Thank you for making my day. š
Try it in a van.!

I have that ratchet in a few sizes. Fits in tight places!
Decades ago, I was the go to man for driveablity and other concerns on Chevy vehicles at the dealer. I was the Only NON ASE certified tech there.
To me, 128 psi oil pressure is normal on a LS motor NOT running, Yes they are that Badass
All you need is a long extension with a 27 mm socket and itās way easier, just straight up
I figured you had one on this. I changed my sensor about 6 months ago on 2006 2500hd w/ 6.0 and now it is doing this again. I figure I might have landed a knockoff one last time as it was acdelco and all but too cheap on ebay. Time for oem from dealer I guess. Thanks Eric.
Iāll gladly pay my mechanic to change that thing if the need arises
I have a 2007 Avalanche LTZ , I just rebuilt the motor new rings , pistons , cam bearings , etc did the break in process . Now the oil pressure gauge has dropped to zero. Replaced oil pressure sensor , still on zero . What should I check next ?
What scan tool r u using? Thanks!! šš» Great video šŖš»šŖš»
Same problem on 03 sliverado , used a big piece of foam rubber laid it on engine and used a mirror. i love these trucks ,if we use them we got to work on them!!!
As a mechanic you shouldn't be touching anybody's personal stuff in their vehicle
YOU THE MAN! YOU MAKE IT LOOK SO EASY
Thanks for sharing but Iām confused
Same code, swapped in new sensor not the screen
Scan tool reads good oil pressure and I can sweep all the gauges using functional test
Good video but donāt work in my truck I change the sensor but still off you know what is the problem thanks
Did this, error wonāt go away
underhood creepers are so nice. especially for a bad lower back
I CHANGED MY OIL PESSURE SENSOR 3 TIMES AND I STILL GET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME BACK ON.WHAT GIVES? PLEASE HELP (2012 GMC SIERRA 1500 SLE) 189,000 MILES. DOES MINE REQUIRE A FILTER UNDER THE SENSOR? MY MECHANIC SAYS IT DOES'NT..
I had to do one of these in my GMC truck…sucked, very hard to get to.
My neighbors 2007 1500 5.3 lost oil pressure the other day.
Truck dipstick showed down a quart.
I topped off and started, gauge went to 40 at 1800 RPM . I can keep at 1800-2000 and it will stay at 40 ish for about 3 minutes then slowly drop to the warnings coming on then to zero..
To me this sounds like once oil get warm this sounds more like pump area problem more than a sensor.
Any thoughts before I dive in??
Tom
It's next to impossible to get to on the LTZ Suburban. It has an insulated sound proofing cover back there that blocks access. Had to remove the intake to fix mine twice. It's a 2007 with 320,000 miles on it.
Eric have you ever run into the stepper motor issue? Or any other issues with low or erratic oil pressure?
Simple motor flush will keep that senser clean.
Great job
I'm sure the ratchet setup costs more than my 76 step side short box c10 dust bucket is worth
I have this code and my pressure gauge pegged to 80 then 0.
Can I drive as long as i have oil and the temp stays in the middle of gauge?
Hang in there Eric! š
Unfortunately I just did the exact same thing didnāt work for me still showing low pressurešany ideas? Great video
