Thanks for the vid. Our expansion valve was very dented but the hole was actually right where the pipes go into the evaporator. My guess is that the banging and jiggling of the whole setup just put pressure on the little joints and it eventually just cracked a small hole
My dad is a car guy. He watches Motortrend religiously and has a lift in his workshop. His health in retirement limits him but he still tinkers. I had some issues with my ‘07 Pacifica and I showed him some of your videos. I accidentally cast one to his TV and he told me to leave it on. Lol. That’s a huge compliment from a guy who likes to watch repair and rebuild on motortrend for fun. Personally, I appreciate the detail about certain things to watch out for and problems when taking things apart or putting back together to avoid making a bigger problem. I like tinkering to fix my own issues and save a buck, but am a total novice so if there’s not enough detail I could make a serious mistake. Thanks again.

Best complete video on the rear ac anatomy. My ?? Is I don’t have vent pressure, fan is blowing high, but not much if any coming past evaporator. Air is actually blowing back out the intake. Thoughts? Thank you!

I tried to add freon to my 2001 grand caravan and the low fitting by the alternator doesn't fit, I took it to O'Reilly's and he said the same thing. What's up with that? Is it maybe up on the fire way ? Like on the newer town and country's? I'm confused. Maybe that's why Firestone didn't have time to do it. The snap on fitting Is a different size. Can you help ?

How do I get the expansion valve off ? It's stuck and won't come off no matter what I try
I think what happens is the seals deteriorate and corrode. I’ve done some that were just crumbling away. Good idea just to replace the entire evap. Also you sort to have to because the expansion valve to evap bolts are corroded into place and will not come loose in most cases. I’ve broken snap on torx bits trying to this

When you performed the replacement of rear AC Evaporator on town and country I noticed you failed to reconnect the harness for OEM flashlight. If you did this step disregard but did not see it in video. I love the channel and could watch you for hours, I really enjoy your channel!

Them Engineers put so much effort into these air boxes, one would think they could of designed the heater core of evaporator to be taken out, kinda like them older cars where you could of taken the heater core out from the firewall with a couple of screws. I did a heater core in a 98 Ford Taurus which involved taking the entire dash out of the car with the steering column, Kinda sucked to replace a $20 part.
Here are the Chrysler Part Numbers:
Evap Coil Assembly with Expansion Valve: 68057709AA
Expansion Valve Only: 68057718AA
Suction O-Ring: 68031984AA
Expansion Valve O-Ring: 4885803AA
Foam Seal Kit: 68042743AA
On my 2009 Grand Caravan, once the nylon strap for the heater core was removed, the heater core just slid right out. I was able to remove the 4 clips and 8 screws that hold the evaporator cover onto the unit. Once that cover was removed the evaporator slip out. Never removed the fan or even saw those doors.

2014 c-tnc. Exact problem. Dealer stopped selling the evap with the expansion valve. So i decided to just replace the expansion valve. Its working 1 day so far. I cleaned the area very well before re assembly. I also made a new dirt damper(foam seal). Thank you again.

Eric, I can't sperate the expansion block, the stud seems to be corroded. Any help of how to get them apart. I used heat though started to melt the plastic housing.
My mechanic told me today these are not a lot of fun. Now I can appreciate how he feels. I’m hoping this fixes my wife’s van, because if the front evap needs to be replaced, he won’t do it and nobody he knows will either. You know what that means – sell the van to get enough money to pay the stealership to fix the van!
