Why didn't you just take off the camshafts? What am I missing?

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Nikka Pubess says:

Ford is junk, you're always fixing them.

Your videos are the highlight of my bus ride home. Thanks for all of it. I tap tap tapped my subscribe button a while ago.

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Steve Jacobs says:

I've done two 5.4 3 valves on the timing chains, cams etc for customers, lots of labor…..parts and labor, not cheap. Plugs are a art to remove if they've never been pulled before. I won't do anymore 5.4's, rather work on 7.3 Ford diesels or anything else.

    .,

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Eric Sauber says:

I like how u said this wouldn't happen with a chevy motor. So I guess chevy engines dont have lifter failure that bends the rod and then on my great experience drops the valve and destroys the engine. Only FORD must have that, u are definitely entitled to your opinion but I have lost respect for your comment and will no longer watch any of your videos, just saying from my experience in losing a shit.3liter chevy at 77000 probably shouldn't say things like this wouldn't happen if it were chevy because that is complete false information that was spreaded.

You should not have to buy a $220 specialty tool to do your job. Beyond ridiculous.

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Markomyt1 says:

I did this same service on my 2006 F150 with about the same mileage.
I also threw in an upgraded Melling oil pump and a new water pump.
It's a real bear to do this work… She purrs like a kitten now.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Xdinked says:

Question please: would it not have been easier on you body to lift the engine out please?

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars thomas krakowski says:

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Kingery says:

Glad every day that my 2012 F-150 has the 5.0 liter V-8

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Leonardo Luchini says:

Why did you had to remove the valve levers?

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Brett Davis says:

    Top video

A lot of the good mechanics I have known in the past I would have called them Looney Tunes. After watching your channel I see that is a good way to deal with the problems and frustrations your job brings. Thanks for the entertainment.

Need to find yourself a yellow foam old couch cushion to lay on. They work pretty good

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Lambster says:

man this channel gets me excited to go to work, and its a sunday… idk whats wrong with me

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Doug Puckett says:

That's one of the worst engine Ford ever made

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars David Norstrand says:

What is the third valve for?

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Lewis says:

You do not have to remove the rockers and camshafts to change the (faser/camsft gear on the 5.4triton engine . I have changed three sets of them

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars jim dandy says:

You're a good mechanic, i hope your boss appreciates that, you bring him LOTS of business..
I would NEVER buy a Ford between the chains, phasers, sparkplug issues, etc. NO WAY

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dave K says:

I must have missed it. I saw the wear on the timing chain cover and the chain too, but… what was the cause?

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ynnel?! says:

ah the 5.4 triton. Spark plugs go WEEEEEEE!

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars colin hamer says:

the guy's that came up with the idea of the guides and tensioner's that are used in a lot of engine's should be named and shamed the pain stress and cost it's put on every one involved is off the scale

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars johnmart127 says:

What's a job like this cost ? I may want to do a timing chain replacement soon.

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Starcarrier says:

One of the things I miss most about my earlier days working in a shop. Yucking it up with the the guys, trying to understand woman, and swearing. It brings a nostalgic smile to my face. It was our “unsafe space” , and I loved it!

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Romeo797610 says:

As I am no mech are you concerned with dust or debris when removing the covers?

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars C.G.B. Spender says:

Eveytime you say "come out" I kinda hear Arnold Schwarzenegger accent. lol

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Sven Schwingel says:

This is probably the one job a well-designed and well-maintained engine with a timing chain shouldn't need during the average car's life. It almost makes you appreciate the simplicity of a timing belt. Great job there, Ford.

Now I know there are contributing factors to valvetrain/timing chain damage like missed drain intervals and wrong oil quality but this is ludacris.

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bill Bauer says:

If you are replacing the chains by removing the phasers, why not just line up the marks on the crank and cams, swap chains and keep going? Why the removal of the followers?

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars mike m says:

i was going to ask if you had ever seen a topside creeper i resale and i just got one in and had never seen one before i worked as a mechanic off and on more off than on in my life (i am past retirement age and still working cause i want to ) i thought it was cool but turns out a very hard item to sell enjoy your videos thanks

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bushy556 says:

I wonder why the took the 5.4 out of the F150’s after 2010 but not the expedition’s?

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Shane Steed says:

Over engine creepers! But I work in a shop with limited space sir…

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tom Kennedy says:

At what point does the time spent dealing with the hard-to-access parts and bolt justify just pulling the engine and working on it in the air?

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Baumgardt III says:

Serviceability! Lol. I think the engineers, and treehuggers from the EPA should have to work on this stuff themselves. I guarantee if the did they would head back to the drawing board.

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Carlos Arce says:

You didn't have to take all the followers off only two essential ones on each side of the engine ,go to the FORD MAKE YOU LOCO videos, so you can see what l mean.

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rhijen Gabino says:

what milwakee chubby you using at 3/8 or 1/2? whats the model number?

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dave Morton says:

You said something about the 'infamous' 5.4l 3-valve… from the design on the tensioners, I cannot understand why not o-rings used for the seal… easy enough to put in a design.. just a lazy solution using tiny gaskets…. but then it is a Ford….. And serviceability?? well, I deal with Hondas, so what do you think??

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars xshanghu says:

Like a Surgeon, complex, complicated procedures, like it was an operation done for the very first time.

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars xshanghu says:

Such a diverse problem solver !

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars OssamabinKenny says:

You think manufacturers have gone passed timing belt to timing chain so the engines become More reliable, but it’s not so.
