Cutlass, it had 5 mph impact shock absorbing Bumpers-front and Back and my wife tested them often, backed into a pole, no damage to Bumper or car, another car rear ended her at a stop light-bend their Bumper Bad, no damage to our car….

I love how as soon as Ray started dismantling the panel, the light decided to remain on the whole time. That’s Sod’s Law, it happened to me with a visit by the Neff technician to my kitchen to fix a an intermittent oven control

I had to replace the heater module on my '00 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I could tap on it and it would work for a while. When the back light would go dim, I knew the unit wouldn't work until I "talked to it". A used one from the salvage yard did the trick.

For anyone who does any interior work, grab a set of trim removal tools, plastic of fiberglass. I turn my own wrenches when I can and have torn my hands up SO much worse and more often om plastic crap than under a hood.

My son and I are just about to replace the infotainment head on our new project car. It's been ages since I've had to pull this sort of thing apart (he just got his license which is why we got the car). This video could not have been better timed for us, thanks!

It looks like you did this with everything powered up. I would think disconnecting and reconnecting those modules especially the radio one when powered up would not be a good thing.

Common GM problem. My 2018 Sierra has the same issue. I'm just out of warranty too and will live with it for now. I believe the part runs about $150.

Yeah I am "Crawling under the dash to replace a bulb" old.
Always turn the power off when changing any electrical or electronic components, this will reduce the amount of failure of said components on reinstall. Other than that, a fast and easy repair. (With my electronics background, I would have troubleshot the actual led failure, it looks like a cold solder joint, but that's where I go a step further in my repairs and the cost is about the same, if not cheaper in the end.)
Mechanics these days, the light is bad, let's replace the whole damn thing hahahaha
