That 4.3 manifold is no easy task. Requires lot of disassembly
My 2000 Jeep Cherokee 4.0L I6 had the same muddy antifreeze. I pulled all the hoses, flushed everything I could, replaced that little coil of wire in the lower radiator hose, changed the water pump and thermostat and 2 months later it was right back to muddy sludge. It was my first vehicle, so I wasn't too concerned, it was a good start and served me well until the seat mounts failed due to the rust from salt that is liberally applied to Wisconsin roads.

Mark the position of the rotor on the distributor housing. Timing is the angle of the rotor in relation to the cap [not its relation to the engine]. Marking the housing in relation to the engine [firewall] is correct.

Great video, Ray. Lots of details to remember. Glad I never had to do any of that nonsense. The closest it ever got was ripping out the 2bbl intake and VV carb on an 87 Grand Marquis that was a factory 351 car. The Edelbrock Performer intake and square bore carb went in slick as a whistle.
Was going to buy a pair of hose clamp pliers for an upcoming at-home job anyway, but saw that you got a piece of the sale price if I used your link to do it, so killed two birds with one stone.
Try using some brake clean on hoses. Also works great on inside of hoses after pick installed.
It's so odd watching your not dealership videos then watching your dealership videos and knowing the difference in how you acted in each type, then watching a video of after you moved to the not dealership job and the videos being the same as at the dealership. No "doo doo doo" when the phone rings, hardly any talking, text overlay, and voice overs (which are usually strangely monotone for you). I'm freaking out lol I like how you got so outgoing and goofy at your not dealership job.

WD-40 is your friend when dealing with stuck hoses, Makes them very easy to remove with little chance on breaking the fittings

Sorry, just had to skim over this video. I have done so many of these that it's not fun anymore and hard to watch anyone else do them. To be honest that was the best intake gasket I have seen, most/all of the gasket was intact.
Owned one of these I bought with 200k on the clock and the thing would not die, I changed the shocks, fuel pump and brakes and put new tires on it and oil and it was pretty bullet proof especially since I didn't do much maintenance after that except oil changes. Sold it 3 years later for what I paid for it was one of my favorite winter beaters, horrible milage same as a suburban with 2 fewer cylinders also changed the spider injection system that was an interesting design 🥴

I wonder why the owner didn't have you to do a power flush on the coolant system? There are some chemicals that garages use that are very strong. Dirty nasty filthy engine!
i always changed the dexcool out for yellow "universal" type. the 4.3 was a decent engine but it sucked almost as much gas as an actual 350 it was based upon…. would i buy one with almost $4 per gallon binflation gasoline? NOPE
Ahhhhh. Nooooo. Use channel locks to twist the hose on the heater core. It works every time.
I've got a problem, I've got pieces of plastic that went into my engine. To make a long story short , can someone tell me how to flush them out???? Please !!!! They're in my water pump and my coolant part of engine. I need help !!

Dexcool has this amazing ability to indicate when somebody really, really doesn't care about vehicle maintenance. It goes from perfectly fine coolant to corrosive gasket eating scourge long after it really should have been replaced, then when really really neglected, the coolant along with everything it's consumed starts turning into this primordial ooze like soupy Play-Doh. If you leave it for long enough, I suspect it becomes self aware.
