Had a Ford Windstar van with an engine noise like a knock at idle. Traced it to the intake manifold. In the manifold it has a molded runner assy that came loose. Engine rpms would hold it still at speed.
I remember these vids. I remember howling with laughter when I saw the vehicle with literally no dash, a huge mess, a gear shifter and a steering wheel. I don’t know how you put up with it, but you’ve got a vehicle to fix, and you fix it without complaint . That’s dedication. The sign of a true professional.
When I tell the mechanics what I notice and suspect,. I'm clear what are symptoms vs my guess.
My guesses are usually correct. I used to do all the work on my own car, including 3 engine swaps and a full rebuild. Just not physically able to do it myself now.
