I always change all the coils if I have to change any of them. I get the lifetime warranty sets too. It saves a lot of headaches. 🥰❤️

I get it. I did Injectors on a international diesel. 2 bad Injectors at 200000 miles. Recommended all 6. No just do the 2. 3 months later. 1 more goes out. Just do the bad 1. Did it. 5 months later another. I should have just did them all. No shit.

Gas oven circuits usually carbide ignitor as its in series with safety valve…it weakens and won't open valve…ammeter can verify…sayin

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Obi Juan says:

So, why no stud replacement, or dielectric grease for these? I've seen you do the grease in the dealership videos.

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Pumpup Jam says:

It's recommended when the coils are that old and or busted, to replace all instead of 1 or 2, maybe 3. Great job!!!

Whatever happened to the time when vehicles were simple.
Ht caps and leads. Distributor cap , points and distributor. Plus a nice big ht coil.Simple.
When tings went wrong , buy a new set of leads. Unplug old leads , plug new leads in 5 min job. Check distributor cap and rotor for cracks . Check points for correct gap. 30 mins max.
Now max probs caused by over engineering. To much to go wrong. Engines always went broom in the past. You have a good day👍

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars tommy bjerke says:

It's the same reason I only replace headlights in pairs. they both have the same run time and if one fails the other isn't far behind. why do the job twice.

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Frodo says:

Amazed that 4.7L made it a 198k miles lol, those engine were prone to a ton of internal engine failures

I have a 97 LHS that actually prefers Champion plugs. Runs like crap on anything newer.

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Paramount531 says:

I'm with you, Ray, I hate the hell out of Champion plugs and have since the 70s.

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars chris sobczak says:

I had one sway bar link go out so I replaced all of them. If one went it the possibility of the others going out is soon. Preventative maintenance!

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Steve Lapierre says:

WELL SAID RAY ABOUT COILS… I WOULD HAVE DONE THE SAME AND NOW SEEING THIS.. HMMM… THIS SPRING, WILL DO MY OWN.. SO THANK YOU… AND ALL 6..! AND IS A DODGE TOO SO.. BUT FOR NOW….!!!! I SAID NERVER AGAIN DODGE BUT. OUFFF…!!! NICE JOB AGAIN RAY…!

Something I did notice is the dash isn't all cracked up.. I see that a lot on these older dodge pickups. they have really thin / brittle dashes…

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mark Eastman says:

That engine hood support can you send a link where to buy it please Ray

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James Exploring Online says:

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Book Autowerks says:

When you were pointing at it I cringed… and then laughed out loud when it zapped you. 😂

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Latro Geniwile says:

Never duscharge a coil without the proper spark gap. If the gap is too wide it will breakdown inside the coil through the winding insulation and degrade the secondary until it eventually fails. NEVER

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mark Hicks says:

I am a Mopar guy. But don't understand why they always use Champion. They are the worst spark plugs. Also not sure why you wouldn't replace the plugs too. Unless they are brand new that should be standard operation.

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Snap-On Auto Tech says:

These and newer ones and new F250's Im seeing leaking spark but no CEL on.

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Fidd88 says:

I know that film-making is not entirely popular wherever you work, but you've got to think that in a world with the internet, the customer being able to view your fault-finding, and recommendations, that more customers would (rightly) have faith in those recommendations when accepting or declining work to correct?

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Shane Davenport says:

You create extra work for yourself because of your insistence on using your power tools. You could easily have gotten number five out without having to take the box off. I have watch many of your vids and the overall theme is that you need to use tools that shorten the repair time, but you make more work for yourself trying to make room for your power tools. Power Tools are nice and can save time but when you have to make more work just to use them there is no time savings. Also spinning the tool until it catches on the bolt is bad. You begin to round off the bolts or nuts doing that. You need to make sure the socket is all the way on the bolt or nut before you turn it.

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Paul Costello says:

Same with headlights, one burns out change both.

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars 420 420 says:

before i even watch the video i am going to guess that it is the coil pack, the spark plungs/wires or the fuel injectors…

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars darthtripedacus1 says:

Out of curiosity why not just replace the boots?

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars bernd eikers says:

to change all coils? to change sparks also? i think it wasnt necesary in this case. the coil was firing.just clean it up, get the dirt out, adjust the sparkplugs and pretty sure the engine would be running fine. but at the end of day today the call is for money and guarantee your work.and as long as china is providing us with cheap spares, the mantainence work done by a mecanic os costly, but the diferents to new parts is not that much so people tend to swap instead of maintenance, especialy the shops.

it depends on the owner. if the owner is willing to spend twice a year one afternoon to deinstall coils and sparks, clean it, remove the dirt, etc..give it some wd40 and adjust distance between anode and electrode, they will last for years. i have mine know for 7 years and they still work fine.

if the owner doesnt touch the engine bay – change it all, it will cost him a couple hundred bucks but for sometime this part is of the engine should be trouble free. dont need to open the hood for this. Ray has something todo, everyone is happy

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dale Todd says:

Original, high mileage ignition coils can have a domino effect. Once one dies the rest may be soon to follow!!

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Steve Trusler says:

I love the diagnosis process. I have to admit though, if I was changing the coils I would have changed those old plugs at the same time. Once you've dug the coil packs out it just seems like a good chance to do them and then forget them for another few years. But hen I suppose that's the difference between doing your own car and working for a customer.

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Wayne Beck says:

If I was the customer I would have had new plugs installed as well.

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Lackooo says:

Those spark plugs looks nasty you should have been replaced them as well.

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mark Watters says:

    Thanks for the video

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars A Dot In The Shark says:

The ones who laugh the hardest when someone gets zapped, have been zapped themselves!

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robert Cromwell says:

Pretty bad spark leak. Must have leaked a quart of spark juice a week.
