I would like to thank you for the time and effort put into these videos and think it's good your boss lets you do them.
Also, one major side effect of these video is drawing attention to the sad state of vehicles and their lack of repair.

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars J Eggleston says:

It doesn't surprise me that a dodge technician cannot diagnose a vehicle they have been trained to diagnose. I had a problem with a faulty TIPM in a caravan and requested they replace it. They merely wanted to reprogram it 15 times. I'll never purchase another dodge. They're aptly named!

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ken Smith says:

I found that baking soda and water cleans battery terminals just fine

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dean Clover says:

Personally I would be very upset about paying the dealership over $1300 to replace the transmission ecm, when that obviously was not the issue. It took an outsider to correctly diagnose the issue and fix it. Good job dude. Good job. You need a raise.

F cking dealerships! I would loose my shit on them! You are the man! Thank you for the entertainment! 🙋🏼‍♀️

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars dj red hare aus says:

I thought you just pour hot water on corroded batteries

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Peter Bland says:

A local independent shop explains dealer techs routinely perform fluids and warranty work. They are not skilled at troubleshooting older vehicles.

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robert J says:

Baking soda solution works fine on my batteries. And its really cheap. Add a teaspoon to a gallon.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tekkara Allan Obonyom says:

Am in Uganda and I just love ur videos

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robert Delalande says:

Pour some warm soapy water over the battery terminals. Very effective for dissolving the battery salt.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Marciniak says:

This is one reason why I’ve never trusted “stealerships.”

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Albert Langer says:

For battery terminals. I've always used a tool as you do, but have only used vaseline and to me, never a problem. Comments?

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Vince A says:

Dealer Tech's are just part swappers. Another demonstration of the power of observation, analysis and critical thinking!

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Pastyman says:

Thought you were a little quick on your diagnosis of the selection motor as you hadn't even lifted the hood at that time.
    But you nailed it.
Just goes to prove, you can't beat experience.
    Love your work 👍👍👍👍👍

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Eileen Hawkins says:

I hope that guy got his $1300 back. You can tell quality of work by whether it solves the problem. They had it two weeks, and didn't fix it, and wanted another week to look at it again? Ridiculous! To me, also doing small things like cleaning the battery says they will be thorough and thoughtful. The dealer seems to have just decided something, dropped in a part, and called it good. And took two weeks to do it. No bueno.

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars MKD Gaming says:

I don't understand how that happened. I used to work for chyrsler, and the answer was always the part. My only thought was that maybe the used car guy wasn't used to chyrslers? but even then, just verifying what the computer is outputing to the motor would tell you it's not a computer.

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chordstride says:

Hey, didn't see you do a terminal drag test. I've been bitten in the ass before on repairs by fem terminals that have lost their tension. Granted, it's not common but I see loose terminals often enough that I always think about it.

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joel North says:

id love to see the companies invoice for brake cleaner lol. rarely see a video without it

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dave M says:

Ray, you have an entertaining channel. I like seeing the mystery’s you encounter and the problem solving you employ. I just subscribed.

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars l wilton says:

You don't need expensive proprietary stuff to fix corrosion on lead-acid battery terminals.
Buy a box of plain old baking soda (NOT baking _powder_) at the supermarket for a couple of bucks. Keep it on your toolbox.
When you have a corroded battery top or terminal, sprinkle a nickel's worth of baking soda on the corrosion and apply some plain water. Give it 5 minutes and rinse it off. Corrosion all gone.
If the powder won't stick, mix some baking soda and water in a cup first, and then paint or pour that on the area.
    Done!

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Denny J says:

Lotta work just getting at the part to test or replace it!

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Brian Cooper says:

These guys who persist in full torqueing the bolts one at a time without even putting the others in finger tight worry me. I've seen this philosophy go wrong.

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Daniel Johnson says:

We removed the transfer case selector lever from the cab. But why? I’ll always prefer a manual shift transfer case.

The first engine was there the head gasket blow on me when driving for lyfe. I have buy 2nd engine for my crown vic. But buy new thothill body and about 6 moths later the rpm has when up to 2000 rpm and still remains there. What can I do about this.

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars bruchpilot747 says:

The sheer amount of innuendos in this one…. :'D

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ray Caster says:

The dealer not only misdiagnosed the problem, replaced an expensive part that was not needed, BUT, incredibly NEVER TESTED their repair. Only reason I can think of is that the 'mechanic' was in over his head and just wanted the car out of the shop, he needs to find a new career.

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jim Cullen says:

Just a fun fact … you refer to yourself using a hammer as a love tap or variations thereof … I was an aircraft mechanic myself before I retired 17 years ago but while on the job we always referred to a tap as being a 'Technical Tap'. Just thought you might want to use the term lol. Love your videos.

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars reverseffect says:

good diagnosis. great repair, even better commentating. keep it up

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars William Fry says:

There is always something in the way – Rainman. All good ideas end up being complicated in the end – Mark Rosenthal.

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars William Fry says:

I do swear Ray you remind me of my Ex brother in-law who worked in Nacogdoches TX many years ago. Unfortunately he was shot by a bad relationship. I wish you the best.

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars KillJoy says:

I love watching shit get repaired, and then function. I do run of the mill stuff myself and its super satisfying to get the job done and feel your work. Having said that I wish there were more mechanics like Ray out there, to be honest, and repair people's stuff and get them road worthy again!

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Speed Demon says:

It's called an actuator not a shift motor LOL

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hans van Leersum says:

Wonder if the customer got his money back from the dealership. 🤔
Or better yet, have his credit card company do a charge back.

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars LTP Ma says:

One date I went to the dealer with my wife , this girl from South America work at Dodge dealer as a sale woman , she said welcome to me with “ welcome to Douche“ my 2 son ask me what did she just said ? ???!!!… did she just called you douched bag Dad ???!!! I start laughing . I told her is Dodge not Douched !!!… we was looking at that new Dodge Neon SRT4 for my son they just came out at that time

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars David Nixon says:

I think the dealership should be avoided at all costs.

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kevin Campbell says:

That was probably the problem from the start! Somebody didn't check it properly the first time!

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jim Robinson says:

Awesome job ray keep it up

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bubba Fatas says:
