Everybody good day to you and welcome back. Glad you're here. We're gonna gonna have a departure from the normal operation and uh do something a little different shop's a little slow power this unit off. I'm gonna do a little bit of maintenance in the uh year or so.

That i've been here. I do not believe that these compressors have ever been serviced. So i think i'm gonna do that today this uh should end up being pretty straightforward. We drain the oil out put the oil in lubricate.

The places where we can lubricate and then we will repeat with a compressing unit. Number two first let's arrange this so the liquid flows downhill. I don't want to overflow my drain. There see i think that's 19 million meters.

Oh let's see what we got in here. Does it have oil. Nobody knows the shadow nose. That's still pretty good looking oil too how about that wonderful not bad for at least a year.

Let's angry fire this fill hole real quick reverse plate that was like the best one ever okay we'll let that drain. I suppose i can take this opportunity to lube the bearings on the motors and this one's also shut down so i can loop this one too. There's a front bearing and a rear bearing and they both have a grease fitting lubricated dangly. Bit a couple squeezes nothing overkill.

I'll do about four and two more on that machine over yonder taking precautions because this compressor is still live. I did not shut this one down. I don't think i can fit a drain pan into this area. Here.

So i may have to just vacuum this out or something like that not certain it says hand tied only hey what do you know it is let's see if there's oil in this one don't start. Oh yeah. She's full good click check it out. We're using straight 30 weight no detergents no additives 30 weight engine oil suitable for compressors and hydraulic systems there and because there's inevitably going to be spillage.

We'll just put that pan back to a rest said spillage. I've only got three quarts of this so i hope i have enough for both units whoa saved. It it's pretty thick oil how about that more we need more there's that mustang again riding around being a mustang. We're gonna be short.

I think i'm short on how much oil i have maybe oh it's gonna be. Close. Yeah i think i'm gonna come up a little short 15. Quarts.

Now the sticky note on the other drain plug said tight and hand tied only click okay serviced this one is complete powering back on okay let's get compressing unit number two powered down. I think i have an idea and my idea is to really change things up see you guys are very used to me doing long range pouring things. But i don't think we've ever done long range draining things let's try that we'll just let gravity do the work for us. So.

We don't have to hmm. This is going to work straight down means. It's going to land like right here. Oh that's like sketch that's not gonna work not at all.

But if i can support this bucket from three points that might work we're doing it it's gonna happen. It's either gonna work or it's not and we're way too invested. At this point to back away all right let. It ride.
No. Oh. No there oh beautiful long range draining things. That's first ever okie dokes intermission.

Time. It's hot in here. I'm going to let this thing do its job. Let gravity take over and i'll be back when this is done i decided to change that up a bit.

It was starting to run and curve backwards and it almost contacted. The tank. Which was going to spill on the floor that would be bad. So.

We did this should have thought of that the first time all right that was successful click you know that sounds so unnatural in english to pronounce the k in front of an n. Even though canipex says that it's comipex. Oh. That's troye tell me.

What's wrong with all right. Oh that unit works fire up this one next negative someone is in need of assistance. Thank you you're welcome. I better grab the right size stuff don't you call me a dog face pony soldier oh i grabbed the wrong socket i'm stupid i gotta do it again fail a lot of work.

I can't believe i couldn't see that it was a 13 ring okay let's do this again you're welcome sir good luck have fun see you later thank you all right fellas that's gonna be your wrap. I think i'm all done here bless you as always like thank you for watching hope you enjoyed this video. If you did you know the drill tap tap that like button drop. Me a comment or two.

And most importantly. Don't forget to have yourselves a great day see you guys later bye.

Hi Ray….Mr madaket is correct ! But you failed to change or at least blow out the air filter ! Highly recommended , the unit doesn't work so hard with a clean filter .
It has to breathe thru valves just like an engine . Plus you must drain the tanks daily and that would have been a good time to do it . Nice to see you care for the equipment . Now get the ac machine fixed , haha . Good to see an honest mechanic and not just a parts replacer to figure out what is wrong . Love your channel .

A funnel and PVC pipe work well for long distance draining

Come on Ray, you need to grow up. You act like a child have the time. Just complete the service like a grown ass adult. Your little games at times cost your company money that should be deducted from your pay cheque.

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kevin Hitchcock says:

The drain fittings on the compressors are pipe thread. Why not extend it out past the tank and put a ball valve on it and a short nipple. Then stick a pipe cap in the end. They

You, Sir, are EVIL!!! Had to replace a serpentine belt, tensioner, and idler pulley on my car. Every bolt I tightened/loosened was followed by a "CLICK" or "UNCLICK"! Air compressors use special oil. 10W or is it 20W

the reason oil in cars turns black is because of the burning carbon fuel. With only clean air going inot the compressor, the oil never gets contaminated so it doesn't necessarily go bad.

When servicing a compressor, you also need to check and blow clean/replace the air filters, adjust the belt/s tension and check the unloader system is working correctly as well as check the cut out pressure (125psi/880kpa) and how long it takes to cycle(top itself back off without anyone using air). Drain the reciever and check the safety valves operation.

On the Knipex YouTube channel, the American/English speaking representatives usually pronounce it “nip-ex” and the Germans call it “K-nīp-ex”, but it’s a German company so it’s proper to pronounce it the “weird sounding” way

I also use a 5gal. plastic container to catch my old oil, but with a twist. I heat the top of the container with a heat gun until it is pliable. Then I press it against the tank until it curves around the tank. Oil goes into the tub and not on the floor.

The shop where I bought it pulled the seal and lubed the motor, with the remark that it should not need lubing again in my lifetime (or more). I do believe in lubricating working bearings. But I want to NOT threaten a bearing's life by overdoing lubrication and exposing the bearing to contamination. __

Compressor oil will last quite a long time as long as it doesn't get overheated. There is no combustion byproducts going past its piston rings unlike a ICE or water vapors in a steam piston. Just a itty bit of condensate, though 99% of that will end up in the tank.

Hey Ray, P.P.S. a short musing about the School Bus contracting firm where I was a driver way back in 1981. The shop had an air compressor bigger than the two you serviced. It was in a cage with no access to the water drain. The shop foreman cut a hole in the cage and opened the drain ball valve. Water drained out for 45 minutes! It appeared that it was NEVER drained. After that regular weekly draining. I like your videos, great content. I have learned so much about OBD II vehicles from you. Keep up the great content. Have your self a great day. Guy Franks
