I had an 1988 Mercury Grand Marquis that had the same issue of dying out. Turned out to be a bad fuel pressure regulator.

I had a 93 Cadillac deville 4.9l with a broke hood latch. Had to go through the grill and grab the metal wire and pull to open. It was a pain.

Brings back memories. I had an '88 Grand Marquis with the 5.0 and an '81 with the 255 cid and a variable venturi carb, which required a carb rebuild every 70,000 miles. Bought them with less than 100k on the clocks and drove both until they rusted out. 260,000 and 288,000 miles respectively. Great cars. Currently rocking a 2004 Crown Vic LX Sport with the console shift and Handling/Performance Package. So much fun!

5 psi? Impressive. Willing to bet the filter is of the 1986 variety as well. Hope you charged labor for the hood. What a pain in the ass.

Grandma owned a 1985 Ford LTD that was a light Tan color throughout the 1990s. Mileage on the odometer back in 2000 when she passed away? 65k.
My aunt had one of these. Borrowed it because my brother crashed my Mustang (4cyl). It floated like a boat and I could watch the gas gauge move closer to E as I was driving. Certified classic. 😂
As soon as I heard it running rough, I said, Fuel filter or pump is bad. These old 5.0 POS engines where what kept my money coming in back in the day.

It's hard when you actually have to be a mechanic and not rely on computers to tell you whats wrong. Once everybody is driving an electric car, we won't need you any more.

Been down this road before. 1st With a 76 cutlass broken cable. Since whenever I notice a problem with hood release I always get that sorted out before closing the hood. Most times it's the cable and mech needing Lube. Sometimes there's a return spring issue.

Old school hood trick. Hold hood latch open, drive one front wheel up curb… the twisting motion will pop the hood
Haven't watched video…. engine replaced… that era was the era of vacuum lines and vacuum computers (yes, that was a thing OMG) I vote vacuum lines… right off!

Old school troubleshooting, the way I learned in autotech. Computers were in cars but the diagnostic computer was ridiculous for hs students. Needless to say, we had to learn the old way.
Looks like one of my projects. By the time I get to the problem I am exhausted.

Haven't watched the video yet, but I have a funny story about engine stalling. Years ago I picked up an MGB for super cheap. It wasn't running (strange isn't it), but I knew it had good compression. Actually the car was in very good condition, except the starter was coming apart. My father rebuilt the distributor while I put the starter back together and rebuild the carburetor. When we put it back together the engine started right up and ran very smooth, engine very healthy no smoke at all. When the accelerator was pressed it died quickly. It was night, working in side yard, low visibility. I had put choke on accelerate and accelerate on choke.
Maybe you should have threatened that Ford Crown Vic say I'm going to turn you into a Chevrolet Caprice. Or you could have threaten it to make it into a p.o.s. blue bird school bus instead. 🤣 👍🇺🇲☮
I’m not convinced you got an accurate fuel pressure reading with the schrader valve removed. This era of Ford MPFI wouldn’t run with 5psi, like not even try. Also as others have stated the diagnostic port is located under the hood. You can check for codes without a checker, but it doesn’t store codes. I wonder if the timing was set correctly when the engine was replaced? Several things that could be checked here.
