If we can’t say limp mode can we at least replace it with lymph node?
"Let's go ahead and brake and watch this thing try to send us into a telephone pole" 😆
Ford has had shitty break's for many , many years. If anyone thinks I am wrong why are there wheels black with break dust????
good job investigating the problem in a mechanically logical way by having the knowledge of how things work and the possible variants of such that said – now we all want to see the brake cleaner spray, please
What are you doing out test driving. Can't you see one of the paycheck collection trucks is in the parking lot?
My Ford f-150 is doing the same thing
Dude you are no longer a wrencher, but a diagnostic commentator. I envy you . KUDOS! The new Scotty?
Don't lie…you were too busy with the matco guy and forgot your gopro, lol.
Dealership did new pads on all four/two new rotors on the front. Finally had the module refurbished and installed it. Lights are gone which is great but the same poor braking and the same slight delay in acceleration you showed in the video. Had the system bled at the tire shop and that seemed to make a noticeable difference but it was short lived within 45 min of easy city driving. I will certainly utilize some of these tidbits you shared. That thermal temp gun was pretty sharp too.
I had an 05’ F150 with similar issues. To further diagnose, I found out the caliper pistons were made of phenolic crap, not metal. The pistons would crack and hang up. Not sure if they went back to metal pistons.
Do not allow Petah to work on that one.
Yes…That was scary.
LET'S DO IT AGAIN!
YEAAHHH!
Enjoy your vids coz I can actually understand your comments coz your English is real good. I'm Englishman in uk.
IR thermometer and stethoscope are my favorite tools.
The more confident you get the more bold you get, the more arrogant you get. These videos are starting to display a significant amount of arrogance. Click bait sorta junk. Embrace your humility and cut the garbage titles out.
Positive comment for the YouTube algorithm.
LOL … that was a scary one … let's do it again.
Smell is always a good indicator of a break that is hanging up. It is an awful smell
Bagina 🤪 my mazda 6 had zame problem i had to replace 2 calipers becauze nobody ever greased the pins they welded themselvez together luckily i was able to barely get the other 2 unstuck and greased the shiznit out of them and one piston boot is torn but isnt leaking yet so i didnt bother replacing it i know i should of
“It’s cat” OMG dude 😂
Its a Ford they wonder on there own thats why it wasn't the complaint. 😂
Ray has lame mode at times
No wonder, he drives a Fix Or Repair Daily.
Yeah new calipers, discs and pads, and she will be as good as new
That's what I love about your videos. No one in Ireland would say that. Here it's a bag trans.
A few years ago, a neighbor kid heard someone use the phrase "limp in mode". he mis-understood and thought it was "flintstone" mode. he thought that it meant putting your feet through the floor to stop.
This is some sagely talk.
New spelling for Death Trap and it's spelled Ford, but in all honesty it's been spelled Ford for a long time.
The Ford ding, sounds like it's saying, I'm a Ford.
My 2011 f150 went into limp mode because the timing chain had stretched. Eco boost engine
Limp mode. That's old people sex, with no Viagra.
My X use to put me in Limp Mode by running the mouth… lol.
Is it normal to diagnose the problem then have another mechanic do the repair?
Limp mode, but no CEL? I have my doubts…
that's going to be expensive repair i just paid $1000 Aust for just rotors and break pads
Ray, I've worked on cars my whole life and have made a living at it as well. You have great skills and are entertaining. You always have the right tool and your best quality is you manage to capture the video with the perfect lighting and sound. I enjoy watching you work. Thanks
Limp mode is very much real on these Fords. I had a wrench symbol that would pop on my dash under heavy acceleration and then it would severely limit power response when pressing down on the gas to the point where it can cause an accident.
My limp mode was caused by misfires
"if u wouldn't pry bar it, it wouldn't leak"
was he reading the comments before the video was even downloaded.??
I would have cracked open the bleeder to see if the caliper released to verify bad caliper or restriction in the system
I generally really like your channel. Even make it better just talk like you're serious. Stop imitating the phone ringing. Stop saying open Z hood and other ridiculous language.
Recently found out that my 98 Expo has a limp mode where it disables 4 cylinders and alternates which 4 inorder to keep the engine cool while overheating or loss of coolant.
I am ultra-familiar with limp mode because I own Jaguars – if you own a Jaguar then about 10% of your driving time in in limp mode – my last one an XK-8 and now happily Jaguar-free
"Needs two calipers"…….They don't get rebuilt anymore? That's what I used to do when I worked in a Ford dealership.
Ooh HDR
Thanks for another interesting diagnosis.
I never heard of Limp Mode before your video's Ray. Maybe this is all your fault! XD
I also go into limp mode when its cold outside….😝🤣
How can anyone drive distracted while there is a message flash on the dash and the radio is flashing?
My Pete auto shut down on I-4 with a 60 second warning because of low coolant. The dealership took it for about a month and within a week it did it again. They took it for about a month and it’s doing it again. I think I know why and why they are missing the problem. It only happens when loaded and I’m using the engine retarder. The coolant is being blown out. Today, didn’t use the engine retarder at all and no issues. The truck never sleeps. Between me and the day shift guy it’s running around 20 hours a day and around 600 miles minimum.
A temp gun is great to check individual exhaust manifold temps as well.
