Just bought a BlueDriver scan tool, first time i used mode 6 it showed over 8500 misfires on cyl 3 on my 5.3 2011 Tahoe. Have checked it a couple more times and only having 3-7 per scan after 30 miles of driving or so. Rough running after cold start for 20 seconds maybe then runs ok. Did have 1 misfire on 5, hoping itโs due to what you explained here. Great video. Thanks ๐
I have a 2013 f-150 with the 3.7 it has a stutter miss fire in park at idle itโll be smooth then stutter then smooth then stutter sometimes itโs really bad when Iโm parked drinking my coffee. Lately I had noticed it kinda misses when stopped at a light at idle but mostly only in park. The ford dealer has replaced the spark plugs, intake gasket, smoked the intake checked cylinder conterbution and fuel pressure cleaner mass air flow and canโt find anything and thereโs no check engine light but ive drive 3.7 before and usally there so smooth you canโt tell there running but not this one. Do you have any insight on this itโs drivin me nuts they say the miss counter shows cylinder 6 but they all has some miss fires 6 the most

Any idea, 2015 pathfinder 50,000,, miles, no codes pending, misfires on all clylinders, only between 1-5, jerks rather violently, only on very slow light acceleration, , but runs good otherwise, above 70degrees out wonโt happen, but u can hear the same rumble like it wants too, possibly spark knock? Only about 1000, rpms,
I wonder if you could use some kind of dye to reveal the cracks in the spark plug porcelain. Maybe the stuff that a dentist uses to stain plaque.
From a car owner perspective, they should know how many Miles are on the plugs and with a misfire plugs are an easy first step in a tuneup.
Do the valves need adjustment on fords?

LOL at most shops if a customer asks for a fuel filter and you don't recommend one you're gonna get asked about that.
Don't worry, domestic car if they say it needs new fuel filter it's probably just transmission, ecm and main bearings goin out.

Hello Mr.O how are you? I had a question for you, I'm getting tired of my 07 chrysler 300c 5.7 engine I got a misfire on cylinder 5 and I changed the coil 3 to 5 and I did the compression test on cylinder 5 and 3 and both are 150 and 148 the misfire still on 5 In not sure how much experience you had on hemi engines do you know what else can cause a misfire on this cars thank you in advance

Thanks for this detailed video! My trailblazer is doing the same thing at these speeds and I think itโs a spark plug/boot issue. Replaced valve cover gasket due to oil in my spark plug wells. Didnโt replace plug/boot just to see if it still worked.

SMA is the best tutorial for Diagnostics that I've ever seen on YouTube! Hats off to Eric O and his crew. That being said I have a 2007 GMC Yukon Denali XL 6.2 L with OBD2 code P0 300. I have massive misfire at Pistons 1 and 3. At a rate of 48 and 30 respectively. Also the fuel trim for Bank One is 56 short-term zero long-term for Bank One and 14 short-term and 0 long term for bank 2. Also I smell an enormous amount of gas through the exhaust. All these symptoms lead me to think it's an ignition problem. The car idles. The engine revs but no power when you put it in drive and step on the gas it literally crawls. Any advice that you could give would be greatly appreciated. I was told to check the ground wire for the coils

PLUG GAP AND HIGH RESISTANCE AT THEADS DUE TO CARBON CURED BY ANISEIZE AND NEW PLUGS HAVE WATCHED NEW PLUGS AND WIRES SPARKING DUE TO OILY THREADS ON HEAD., CHROME PLUGS NEED ANTISEIZE ON THREADS. THAT MAX LOAD OFF IDLE IN HIGH GEAR LOAD IS A PISSER FOR THE PATH OF LEAST RESITANCE BEING NOT THROUGH THE GAP ON THE PLUG

My 02 F150 has a cylinder 4 that turned out its the coil plug that won't click into place so every once in a while it'll start misfiring. I love watching this guy, I always see differing ways to diagnose these problems. Thank you big guy for another great video!

Good evening. I know this is an old video but it is still helping people.
I had a issue with a rough running 2003 GMC Envoy 4.2L. It had cam, VVT and crank sensor codes but no misfire. I replaced the parts and it still ran rough.
Three days later after replacing spark plugs it finally gave me a misfire. It was in sixn I moved to 2 for easier access and it traveled. I could have used the Mode 6 data to diagnose. Now I know and knowing is half the battle.

My misfire tools consist of any bolt or nut that I can ground or lay a spark plug that is unscrewed from the head and a regulation spray bottle full of high quality H2o.

i got smarter watching this.
alot of plugs r like that, its worse with cheap plugs obviously if u look close theyll have tiny spots n lines like that that they glaze just didnt take to the plug for whatever reason, it wouldnt hurt to slather a little layer of dielectric over plugs

My issue is at idle 850rpm in neutral/parked the car runs great till warm or if give I touch gas pedal to rev to 1500-2000rpm s idling is gone and begins acting up cutting in out and a few seconds later randomly shuts off. The car will start right back up and will do it same thing. What got me stumped is no CEL
