Does anyone reuse cotter pins? Maybe if there is absolutely no replacement available I guess. 🙂

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Anthony Crosier says:

"Im not hating on anyone else's welding cause i dont know how to weld"…. Proceeds to weld a very crucial component on car …smh buy a whole new control arm jeez ….the stuff u do on these vehicles amazes me Lmao

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hola! Robert Ratcliff says:

Man i wish the ball joints in my truck were as easy as this. Watching you do them is making me want to go replace mine again just so i can donwhat you did. I had a guy do mine and he fucked em up pretty bad. So i think im going ti di them myself after watching this.

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Douglas Dailey says:

When the next person needs to replace those ball joints, they are going to have a major problem. They will have to change the entire lower control arms.

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars GoEzyImNew says:

Would love it if you were in Australia so I could get you to work on my car and make comment/document the lack of care for the car. It would be interesting to see what you make of it and I know the repair would get bigger and bigger with every little thing you find.

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tom Kennedy says:

Perhaps the viewer who brought this in knew it would be filmed and had it detailed first?

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kaze Kitsune says:

I swear you need welding safety gear. I cringe every time I see you using the welder without proper gloves.

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars JimAirborne25 says:

Keeping your sense of humor in a very serious situation where you could have been more gravely injured. Gotta love it. I’d say you haven’t watched too much Ray, but have been somewhat influenced by them. I can appreciate someone who can keep their head in a situation like that. I recall moments and was told that I “took it like a champ, telling jokes the whole time” from my battles after taking shrapnel in Afghanistan. Serious injury, but I could make jokes. Joining others in being glad you are okay, and hope that you do not suffer from any secondary injuries down the line!

My sweetest will ask me "why is this on the kitchen table"? Gravity is my answer..

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Christopher Saylock says:

I always measure the threads on the inner tie rods to assure the rack is symmetrical despite the arresting wheel otherwise the car may wish wash down the road.

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jack O'Neill says:

I like your content, but I think you dropped the ball (sic) on this one. New LCA's were the way to go.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Saltydog45 says:

Someone likes turning hard without moving. Absolutely knackers lower arms, and wears tyres quick.

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chris Whitelaw says:

Shame about the weld. On a car that’s obviously as well loved and cared for as this one, a new lower control arm would be ideal. If/when those ball joints need replacement again it’s going to be a real bear.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kevin K says:

Welding a ball joint? What's next, JB weld? I have watched so many of your videos with such excellent work but this one I must dislike.

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Brett Davis says:

Love the channel Ray but why do you always use your ball joint splitter instead of hitting where it sits with a hammer

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ED Harry says:

My Crown Victoria was a pain to change lower ball joints . Pressed in [rented tool} Sorry pressed out first ,then I had to bang them in with a dull punch on the edge to get them all the way up into the lower control arm. Just a Plain "Miserable Job" Ray you did good ! Ford ,Shame on You!

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Patrick Pickett says:

Looks like a bird sh*ted on it.

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Guess Who says:

This is painful to watch. As a master tech for over 40 yrs, I've never welded lower ball joints in my life. Also a 2 lb. hammer and a 34mm socket installs ball joints in around 30 sec. Love you Ray, but this one was hard to take..

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jeffrey Biggs says:

I would have declined this job.

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mike Sunken says:

The more videos I watch the more I realize how much shady crap work this guy does.

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mike Sunken says:

This was very poor judgment on your part, what a complete joke!!

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Don's Junkmail says:

Viewers vehicle…that's us…hope he's getting the usual 50 percent off…and free coffee cup.

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bill Bauer says:

    No torque wrench?

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joseph Erhardt says:

"You guys just witnessed a real live OSHA violation." Ray, if you ever decide to retire from being a mechanic, go into stand-up comedy. 🙂

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars kevin crawford says:

Reeeereeey, why do you call split pins cotter pins?
    Jeezus, that annoys me…
but then , I’m just an old fart who loves your videos and have learned so much from them that I now tackle jobs that I would have never had a go at before… just a bit OCD l suppose….love your work man,
    👍🤪

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars MrLupine75 says:

Dont forget to keep those cotter pins for later use

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gerry Carmichael says:

If my memory serves correctly Moog makes a ball joint for occasions where the control arm hole is worn.

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Merrill Schaps says:

I probably would have just replaced the lower control arms.

I bought a NAPA power steering pump once that looked like someone cleaned it up and painted it so it looked new and made a bad bearing noise right from the start. It worked for a day then it completely stopped working.

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bobby Real says:

Ray Ray, Couldn't you just have rewelded the ones that were in there and saved yourself ALOT of hassle? Love the channel brother.

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars TheOnespeedbiker says:

The chisel flying off the air hammer was not gravity, it was Newton's First Law of motion; eg inertia.

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars THESALVISTYLE says:

well that just shortened the life of that ball joint…. HEATTTTTTT …… just saying heat and plastic don't get along that well…

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ldiablo says:

So the last mechanic put a few little spot welds to make your job much easier but you on the other hand welded the hell outta the ball joints making the next mechanics job near impossible.

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robert Grosser says:

Ray, as I said before , I am watching you closely and I didn't see you replace the spring clip on the dust boot on the second ball joint . Please explain. Am addicted to your videos Ray. Cheers from Australia.

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars airplane george says:

why do we drive on a parkway but park on a driveway?

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chris Pulham says:

Didnt see you put the boot clip back on!

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Black III says:

The grease is boiling out of that last ball joint.

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dane Martin says:

Oh boy are we ever glad you don't call your self a welder. Because god dammn. Lmao. You need to turn your welder up a lil bit. But over all good job for sure. Just a little constructive criticism
For everybody's information, i am am ironworker therefore also a certified welder.

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Scot Stewart says:

Just ordered a caliper piston spreader tool for my tool box, Thanks Ray

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Martin says:

How many times……Clean the metal first.

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars WTF? says:

I guess the customer spent all his money on the inside and didn't have any left for what really counts. I just did the inner and outer tie rods and ball joints on my '02 mustang gt and everything went very smooth. it was my first time, it was glorious and I shall never forget it. Especially the part where the ball joint presser jumped off as I was loosening it, bounced off the floor and landed right where my lip was. Owuuch.😶😁

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Skyscraper says:

Sorry but what a hack ball joint job

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bruce Hirsch says:

The right thing to do would be to REPLACE the lower control arm. NOT weld the ball joint in. You also cooked the ball and socket as there is a neoprene type material in there. Not good!

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Johnny Mock says:

i cant beleve what i just saw

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mark Duffield says:

What about the retainer ring you removed from the new rubber covering the ball joint on the passenger side? Did you remember to put it back on?
