I love this video my wheel lug nuts are stripped and rounded grounded out they tried everything an no success. Place want to charge me 707.00 for 1 wheel to bleed the breaks put a new hub on it an some more. Who got this kind of money not me. Will this work on any car. I have a Lexus. Thanks

I am dealing with this very issue on a 2000 Grand Cherokee. The tire shop rounded off the lug nut and then mangled the hell out of it trying to get it off. I ended up taking the vehicle to a regular repair shop and even they could not get it off. They did manage to get most of the nut off but the crown of the nut is still there and still won't come off. This weekend I am gonna try to drill enough material out of the nut to break it off without damaging the wheel.
Literally just had this problem . im not a mechanic by any means!! Its mine Vehicle and am stuck at what to do used the m18 2767. Used 1/2 breaker bar with a huge pipe nothing just straight stripped!!
I'm afraid I'm gonna have to do mine the way you just did, cause I think the guy that put mine on there was Arnold Sworzanager, , no joking, we bent 2 breaker bars already !

Hmm…I’ve had lug nuts get stuck, cause the previous idiot cross threaded them on there…usual solution is to stick the ole Milwaukee on there and send her till she either comes free or snaps. Had one where I tried that, and it spun the stud and wallered out the hub…gave that the long shank air hammer treatment, split ‘er right in two. Haven’t had to blow one off with the torch yet, but I’m sure it’ll happen sooner or later.

Could you imagine like most jobs, it's not just one , but many lug nuts not coming off, this is because of stupid "mechanics" NOT PUTTING ANTI- SEIZE on threads. Drilling out all of the seized lug nut because of stupidity and now the car owner gets to pay for "Quality Workmanship", what a bunch of crap. I've seen dealer "mechanics" over tighten in hopes for the big pay out in drill outs. What a sad practice.
5 Lugs down "Well at least i can still rotate the other 3…" 10 Lugs down You get the point.
Use antisize grease to install lug nuts and cure your problem!
3 hours later you got all of them drilled off just to find out your local parts house only has two freaking studs in stock Got to love it

Thanks for the video. Im one of those guys who made a mistake of stripping the lug bolt. So instead of removing it the right way, I went a size smaller. By time I was done with the bolt it was all beaten up..hours wasted, and tire still on. I should of started right off with the drill. Should of , could of, would of..what can i say. I'm wondering if you tried to weld another bolt to the lug nut. That might be another option as well.

Had a shop replace the rear differential on my Expedition a few months ago. Recently had a steel brake line rupture from corrosion and since no one wanted to run custom nicopp lines I was in the process of doing it myself and discovered they had cross threaded one of the rear lugs. My 1,700 lb-ft impact won't phase it. I've shattered an iron 4 way using a 4 foot breaker bar. Even though I have a 220 degree safety margin between MAP at it's hottest burning point and the ignition point of magnesium, I can't use a torch because it started to cook off the factory coating on the rim's face before it could get the lug nut anywhere near hot enough.
Taking it back to the shop in about 6 hours, fuck it it's their problem.
you did not show the wheel stud removal which is part of the job. incomplete video. people need to see the whole repair not just half.

I guess the real fix is to not screw up your lug nuts to begin with. How the hell do they get bad like that?
What would someone at Walmart do to cause this? Did they use a socket that was too big? I can see someone doing this to one or two studs…. but all 20. If I hit myself in the head with a hammer once and feel pain, I put two and two together and stop.
This is why I hate GM and Chrysler cars lug nuts. The newest GM and Chrysler lug nuts get bad. Sucks won't fits on it.
My lugs aren't rounded, but they're stuck. I have a breaker bar and trued using it and snapped 1 stud, and all the other studs feel like they're going to snap if i keep trying… Sprayed with penetration oil and nothing is working… All in trying to do is change my brakes
always be careful with magnesium wheels they Will Start on FIRE. Just saying not like I ever had it happen. LOL

Since your using drill bit to solve your issue…Why not just use a Reverse Drill bit….I'm sure it will grab the nut…and if it doesn't you still drilled the hole

Punch mark helps to center the drill bit.
Hammering a 12 point socket that is a size smaller than the original lug nut size onto the nut has always worked for me. However, you can't use a cheap socket because it'll crack the socket but you don't want to use a really good socket because it does damage the socket after it's been used to remove 4 or 5 lugs in this way. Use a midgrade socket and replace it after it has been used for this 4 or 5 times. Hasn't failed me yet.
The music reminds me of power block tv with Stacy David in the old days when he had the mullet. Believe it or not. I had luck with some lug nut sockets from Autozone. They were like a npt fitting. If you push hard on the impact they will thread onto the nut. I haven’t had to use on a nut that bad yet. Good video sir.

Just curious, but could you put 2 or 4 weld beads on the nut to give the socket something to grab? Would it be strong enough?
Cant be cheap
When at the point you were at with that car, if beating a smaller socket on won't work anymore, I go in behind the hub with a torch and remove the mushroom end of the stud, then punch it through backwards. If it is drum brakes, or inaccessible to the torch, well drill and burr wins every time. Patience is a virtue for sure.
Getting them on tight is easy says the Wal-mart tech. Just cross thread 'em by hand, then run 'em in the rest of the way with an impact gun.
For the record the customer bought the car this way. It was recently at the Walmart for service before he bought it…
