In this video I have a look at a 2015 Dodge Journey that was towed in for a no crank condition. The power of visual inspection comes through strong in this video. Aftermarket add on junk strikes again! -Enjoy!

When I get a vehicle I usually like to snag a Haynes manual for it, or if not available then a Chilton's. For my Journey there is NOTHING! What was that you were accessing early on in the video that showed you what was running off of that fuse?

That was a good video. I have a 2012 dodge journey will not be installing a backup camera just one more thing not necessary to track down.

How will you know if the fuse blown out

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars MastrOfFear says:

Hello sir, I know this videos and its comments r way old. But im having the same problem. Lock buttons and panic on fob works fine. In the car the cluster reads "no key detected", then "use fob to push button." But nothing. No accessory power, no run power. I have had my OEM antenna break and the base is slightly loose. No evidence of water stains around or in the hub module in the back under the head liner. No self-installed wires either lol. If u were to proceed with the internal key detection antenna. How would u do so? I have replaced my car battery it self no fix, key fob battery no fix.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Botero says:

How can an aftermarket back up camera prevent a car from starting??? From what I learned a no crank no start is usually, a battery, a fuse, a starter, engine locked up, a bad ground, etc..

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Nina Eli n Daddy says:

I can't stand videos like this and I can't believe how many of them there are. You go from one scene to another with something torn apart, but you don't show people how to access whatever it is that you are working on in the car. This sucks.

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chalang Shingaly says:

    nice

I have a no start/no crank Mobile diagnosis tomorrow on a 2015 Journey. Same symptoms. Its already had the parts cannon shot at it. Thank you for the video.

Hi, I am a new guy in your channel. I have been watching your videos since a few months ago. I was put in my house on medical leave since May 2021 and honestly your videos are awesome as you work on vehicles, explain the procedures, trouble shoots the issues and provide humor or conversation in the process. I used to work on my cars and motorcycles at home, however, my medical situation has kind of taken me away from enjoying my garage and maintaining my cars. Sir, I was looking for someone like yourself in my area and got lucky because it is hard to find someone with your integrity in the auto mechanic field. I just wanted to say that ALL your videos, regardless how simple/logical the issues are do not erase them. I have to stay most of the day at home (cancer I have) and I don't watch other stuff on TV or the internet because it is repetitive/gossip/non productive information. THANK YOU!!!!!!

The water leak is under the roof rack runners where they sit on the roof. Thereโ€™s a body seam in the troughs underneath and the sealer is not very good from Chrysler and it cracks. Happens faster on mon roof rack cars that just have rubber strips on the roof. The water spreads out and fooled me for a while but it all collects in the tool compartment or passenger rear footwell MOPAR2YA BABY ๐Ÿ˜‚

What idiot would install all the aftermarket crap and not run it from the battery and put an inline fuse

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars havock renard says:

that shark fin is a mux antenna, it is factory, it has satelite and depending on vehicle build, also navigation, the red wire is not factory. and neither is that camera. They might have ripped that antenna off at one time.

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bill Scott says:

You make a very good point after installing aftermarket items

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jordan Kelly says:

the backup camera should be tied into the red wire on the rear backup lights so they only turn on when the back up lights are on. been looking at Dodge Journey videos for common problems as I just got one recently. i'm glad this issue is caused by a faulty install of a back up camera and not an issue with the vehicle itself.

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kasual Skeptik says:

Although the draw is low according to the DMM, I don't think I would want to use my DDM as the circuit breaker…
Seems to be a set of those automotive circuit breakers (fuse substitutes) are a really good thing to own…

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars William Duhamel says:

Are you sure that was for an aftermarket back up camera? That fin looks more like for a company tracking device. I worked for a company that used something similar gps to track our speed and direction.

They call it a Journey because its always a journey to fix๐Ÿค˜

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Richard Knapman says:

I totally agree with removing the wire from this one, you have to look at as liability issue, what happens if you are driving and the fuse blows leaving you in a situation that you can't clear an intersection or passing someone and you lose all power… bad day all around!

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chris Bramblett says:

Quick fix. Install a normal, analog key switch.

Cant blame the car this time. Just some shoddy work on aftermarket junk.

UPDATE: The customer stopped back a few days later and we installed the OEM antenna on the roof so it would solve the issues with the wet headliner. He bought the car in the condition it was in, back up camera and baby shark fin were all ready on there. He did not want to do any further testing with the internal key detection antenna's at this time
