    Speed control ?

Since no wheel functions were working, I'm wondering if that yellow connector just fell off. It sure didn't seem connected when you took everything apart

When I ordered one for my van it was called a drivers airbag squib

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Pumpup Jam says:

how much did this cost the customer to replace that part and your labor fee?

I appreciate that your videos have the date below them. I know it's not important at all in your case… but it bugs the hell out of me that so many videos don't have dates anymore, especially when it's important. I'm not sure why the dates aren't there anymore… but it sucks either way.

    air bag deployment 🤣

sorry bro ,but we need an adult version of how frustrating things are to remove ….if you get my drift ……lmao

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Raymond Rothstein says:

Because a real old school pocket watch had a spiral wound spring, so they reference the shape rather than function.

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chris Whitelaw says:

Called clock spring because the coiled wires resemble the mainspring of a clock or watch. Sometimes I’ve heard them called watch spring assemblies. Whatever works huh? And Hyundai are a) a bear to get spares from, and b) mega expensive. But Ray…man….disconnect battery and allow 10 mins for any residual current to dissipate!

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James C says:

As always thanks for the the awesome video.

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bryan Harvey says:

I have to do this to my Ford Ranger. Got the parts just need to do it. Air bag deployment, even if I disconnect the battery, scares me.

Korean junk! They got a little better since the 90's, but they're still junk. No quality control! However, they have doubled their prices! No thanks, I'll buy a Toyota or an older vehicle that is well made! As usual, great video!! 👍👍😉

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Reg Pro says:

Leave the nut on a few threads so the steering does not hit you in the face when it breaks loose from the splines

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Sophie Dolman says:

I've known them as clock springs forever, but in Mercedes-Benz land, its know as a spiral contact module !!

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Eric Erickson says:

I thought the clock spring only centered the wheel and didn’t realize it also contains connections to controls on the wheel. Makes sense!

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Daddio says:

I agree with clock spring (have heard SIR coil as well).

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ronnie McMains says:

I noticed when you were describing the function of the 'clockspring', the unit was marked with both the Hyundai and Kia logos. If you had the wheel apart before having to go for a junkyard part, maybe you could have contacted Kia instead.

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Andy Ellis says:

Why didn't you disconnect the Battery Ray when I had to take my truck steering wheel was told to disconnect the battery and leave for 30 minutes before touching again

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Black III says:

Toyota dealer wanted $640 to replace this on my wife's 2010 camry (98K miles on it). Bought the part online for $63 and replaced myself in 55 minutes including test drive. Got to think dealer can do it faster…..so….basically ripping off customers.

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Allen Gale says:

Replaced the clock spring on my 05 Prius years ago. Watched couple YouTube videos and said, "I can do that!" Thanks for not editing out that you didn't realize immediately that you had to "crack open the clamshell" to get old one out. Glad you're able to learn as you go as needed and aren't afraid to show us that there's some things you still don't know. Keep up the Great Videos!!

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bowhunters says:

Reeeeee dirty screwdriver in my clean car !!! LOLOLOL

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars JBFPV says:

I like the fear you instilled on this video. Not that it was, but people should be leary of airbags because they are a controlled explosion with very aggressive propellant in them to make the bag open fast enough to absorb the occupants inertia during a event such as an accident. Food for thought 🤔

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James Dvorak says:

The only thing you forgot was to say, "Locked and loaded" when you clicked in the air bag connectors. LOL. Good job, Ray!

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars badger jamees says:

You can never be too careful when it comes to airbags, always disconnect the negative battery post and wear antistatic gloves before handling an airbag connections. All it takes is a small static spark to jump to the connectors and bam airbag will go off right in your face. I just replaced my clock spring in my toyota camry, can never be too careful with airbags.

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bill Chmelik says:

Still called clockspring…just replaced the one in my f250

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars i2 4U says:

When you took the steering wheel off it became a Tesla.

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Clayton Barr says:

Just a heads up for the disconnect the battery guys….when you disconnect the clock spring connector (say if dropping the steering column), the component is then disconnected from the battery since its unplugged. These connectors are routinely disconnected with no accidental explosions (that would be crazy if it did).

I've done at least 300 airbags since Takata airbags had problems….and not one of those was done with the battery disconnected. Meh, it's your safety so do it your way and I won't fault you.

That being said, don't ever unbolt an airbag module and turn it upside down with the battery connected….that's a huge no go that will make the car think its in a rollover event.

First comment on your videos and man I have to say, props to you on your camera angles. I've been recording my work as well and man is it difficult with one hand. Hats off to ya!

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Knight says:

ive connected ejector seats in aircraft but still hate messing with airbags

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Missy Chevious says:

I was taking a drink of water when you pulled that air bag prank. I spit the water all over the monitor and desk. Had to pause the video to clean up the mess. Why you might ask?? Because I had an air bag deploy one time because I didn't follow the recommendations and disconnect the battery. You can bet I never did that again. LMAO

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars DJ Rory Miller Mobile Disco & Karaoke says:

Yep you got everyone with that air bag.

Is your garage in Orlando by any chance

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ray Gale says:

A clock spring means nothing to the I phone, digital watch generation. All you need to know is a clock can run without a battery or internet connection, it was done with magic and steam, lots of steam.

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Trey Suter says:

I'd rather you run my ac then have swamp ass in my car haha

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Phillip Sharpe says:

Top tip ,when removing a steering wheel, leave a few threads on the nut that holds the steering wheel on that way when pulling the steering wheel off it won't fly of and hit you in the face, ask me how i know, 😂😂👍

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars PutoQuienLoLea says:

Everyone has problems with supply of parts
I’m really surprised off all the videos you make this is the only one that you had problems with parts not being in stock

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars havock renard says:

chrysler still calls it a clockspring

  50. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars martin jones says:

Clock spring also known as a Sqibb
