I was a diesel Marine mechanic Now that’s a real mechanic right there not a part changer

Eric, you say you don't want people to think that your 'God's Gift' to broken cars yet you show how you can do amazing things like fixing this truck. Don't you think this is counter productive? You just have to stop posting vids where you are looking so incredible and people will stop with the advice calls and wasting your time! Keep up the way you have been going and your doomed to be a legend! (in MHO) Let's see more vids where you tell the owner that their car is good for nothing but junk and and show the wrecker taking it to the scrapyard at the end. That will cut down on the YouTuber calls.

Let's see, couple thousand work before Eric. Eric has Immediate problem thinking 12v but not. When he finds other voltages for it to send proper injector firing finds it's the ficm, (fuel injector control voltage), feedback circuits overwhelm the Eric for a while, while scratching head. Gets to the knowledge feedback from other injectors firing on the power circuit, says, hey ficm, which all the money and fiddling never found the right faulty component. Not sure how many thousand would have been needed to find the problem. What this means to me is, someone in his area needs to be a diesel guru like Eric is a circuit guru I would trust and have trouble understanding exactly how he found this.

when eric first lifted the hood showing this setup i thought it was fking shocking….engine bay totally filled with crap and plastic and no engine visible……to me it looked like an impossible job…..he puzzled his way through the first hour basically teaching himself how to do an appendectomy while performing his first appendectomy….but here we are cured up and fixed….eric is a very smart and persistent dude who likes to pretend he's a kinda sorta dummy stupid guy…..he reminds me of richard dean anderson's character on Stargaate SG-1 Colonel Jack O'Neill, who sorta plays a simpleminded guy but who knows and does everything when the chips are down…………………………this was a decent video, not my favorite by a wide margin….when this video was over i was left admiring my 1935 vintage Lister diesel 6 hp single cylinder engine where the fuel pump and everything else is entirely mechanical, no wires or modules or computers or waveforms…for 50 years all fuel pumps were based on the same Lister mechanical fuel pump and when you had a 6 cyl engine they just lined up 6 lister single cyl fuel pumps beside each other and stuck in a teeny tiny cam shaft to drive them….beautiful, simple, serviceable, accessible, foolproof….and gone with the wind

Seems my channel got deleted again 2nd time on YouTube,I don’t make content so don’t ever say anything about politicians except Trump or deleted channel. To my point I had to rewatch all S.M.A content a 3rd time to thumbs up all of them so I know I watched that particular content. Well worth it. Now I use my wife’s channel. Realistically I watch S.M.A any time I’m bored no matter what video I still learn stuff.

The only concern I have with the diagnosis of the module is, WHY did the module fail? I'm always very apprehensive to replace a module unless I know why it failed. Because how do you know that the replacement one won't burn up too?

Diesel injectors do not have a coil inside to fire, it uses piezo crystals that expand to open valve

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars kain0m says:

The offset between the input and output is because you're probing the wrong input – I don't know the firing order of that engine, but you're probing the control wire for the injector firing before #3.

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joe Vreeland says:

I was suspicious of some sort of driver module 'cause the Amps:Volts ratio wasn't gonna come from a PCM. I was thinking a quad driver or quick-switching MOSFET. I still wonder why the coil collapse is so long before the spike of 50+ VDC.
….and, yeah….. 50V will kick a bit ….. but it's the Amps ya gotta worry about.
You're laid out across s lot of potential grounds and sticking a probe into places where ya shouldn't… zap!
Then ya gotta sharpen a new point on your probe. BT-DT!
I notice that your probe is long enuff for many re-sharpenings. Just sayin'……
If it wasn't for nothing but your Columbus attitude (seek, and ye shall find) I 'd still watch just for entertainment value. Love ya, guy!

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Stephen Liviniuk says:

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Richard Fox says:

Good one Eric, I remember watching a video on the reason for double firing of the injectors but it draws a blank now on why. It's high tech stuff. LOL

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jim Vet says:

You did a superb job at translating the project. it need a computer, it seems to me that
truck is poorly designed. all that electric, we didn't have all that junlk that is used now,
    what do I know, …. I know……….nothing…. that's why I listen to you Eric. good job…….. next……….

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Badger Pa says:

Thanks for the follow up on it. The engine in the 3500's and up are rated different and usually are lower in horsepower than the same in a 2500. Since they do not know what the upfitter will cobble on it EPA says it has to be derated. I do not pretend to know about exactly how but I know they do it.

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Emnauel Cruz says:

    Please more diesel trucks
