i used to use the co2 machine in the radiator with the engine running and check the hc etc levels coming out the radiator. Florida doesn't have emissions check? many times it came up with a blown head gasket very reliable method..

These Ecoboosts are notorious for the head gasget failing between a cylinder and a coolant channel right next to it. For some reason Ford placed them so close together, with so little gasget material. It's common for them to leak coolant into a cylinder.
Not only Ford been to see an astra 17 plate 1.6 cdti oil pump failure very common fb market place full of em lol.

My wife’s 2017 Ford Escape engine had the same engine block problem. Ford replaced the engine for free. They been having problems with a lot of 2016-2018 Edge and Escape. Our dealer has already had 3 engine replacements for the same problem. In a town of 1200

The one starter performance code certainly relates to liquid compression instead of gas compression. Being it is a 4 cylinder engine says that the starter has to overcome 90 degrees of full 360 degrees rotation as compared to a 6 cyl or 8 cyl design. 8 cylinder needs just 45 degrees of power before next firing cylinder adds to the full 360 degrees. Think if it was just a 3 cylinder engine here.
Don't know why Americans never learn that Ford, GM, and Chrysler is junk.

2013 Ford Escape 60,000 miles… ecoboost, over heat, stopped.. towed, water pump replaced… not water pump, engine was cracked.. maintained by Ford, out of Warranty… Ford says $8,000 to $10,000 for repair. Junked it for $1,000 and really pissed at Ford. google says hundreds of these happening.
The head could also be warped right around the cylinders causing the leak or the block cracked. Best bang for your buck word be a junk yard engine with a 3 month warranty.
17 hrs at probably 100 an hr . Smh

I was luckily able to get mine replaced under warranty and sold it as soon as used car prices went up. Only lost around 3k for 5 years of use. I wish them luck whoever got that car…

Built by Ford? They were my customers for years. Not good Engineering. Designed by a committee. Assembled by angry abused tired people.
Ford had a "silent warranty" for these, a guy in our company blew the engine in his 2017 Escape 1.5 ecoboost. The vehicle was out of warranty on mileage, but Ford came back with a goodwill engine replacement for our company (before the fleet department was able to buy him something else!). Shortly after that, Ford announced a recall for the 1.5 Ecoboost to solve the problem (it apparently covered vehicles made up through early 2019, my company late build 2019 Escape wasn't covered by the recall.) I believe it was a head manifold not meeting up with all the cooling passage issue…the solution was to replace the head gasket with a new head gasket with a slightly different design.
I bought (My ex-Husband Bought should clarify) a car one time with a cracked head… they dealer we bought it from was a motorcycle shop. They said we bought it… "as is"… and tried to sell us a new engine for it… I said "BS you will take it back we'll call it we rented it for awhile… but you try this crap again on me and well I'll be squealing to everyone I know who buys bikes what a shady ass dealer you are … and I will also talk to most the shops I know as my father does own a body shop and we'll just see how much business you get from here on out."… They took the car back and ripped up our contract with them… I never bought from them again. They knew dang well that the car had a cracked head… that's why when we test drove it they wouldn't allow us to take it out of town… as they knew full well the thing couldn't go over 50mph… I was NOT impressed. From then on I did all the dealing with cars.
Coworker bought a fiesta cause it was dirt cheap a few years back when we were looking for gas savers. I went with a 04 Corolla to daily back and forth from work. My Corolla had 89k miles and now she has close to 300k miles and still running. His has 60k miles and didn't make it past 100k. Needed a new trans and later new engine and he ended up taking a big loss on the car when he sold it. Glad i went Toyota.

Ecoboost could have just been a turbocharger, but instead Ford wanted to brand and trademark their own, unique, turbo system and called it EcoBoost. The problem with branding your components is that they need to be good components (like Quattro), otherwise your branded component becomes a detriment to your main brand (Ford).
That's what you get when you turbo a 1.5, everybody knows you at least buy the D16 out of the junk yard to swap in before you turbo it.

P06E9 starter performance is caused by a no start. If you crank the fords many times and it doesnt start, it will throw this code and disable the starter for some time to not overheat the starter itself. After a few minutes, even with the code still present, it will allow you to try again. This is normal for a no start condition, or if you didnt prime the fuel filter after changing. Ford Master tech.
Purchased a car from a dealership, yes it was used but it was from a big dealership. It seemed to be a good car and it had low miles on it. My car never showed that it overheated at least none that I could see plus I hardly ever drove it. Seemed completely normal. 3 months after getting it I had car problems and was told the block was cracked and needed a whole new engine. I was still making payments on the car and I was devastated. Also learned that the temp gauge was replaced before I purchased the car and was never told about it. Seriously felt scammed by the dealership but couldn't do anything about it. Big learning lesson for me.
How come when you remove the oil spout lid it sounded and looked as exhaust was blowing out of it,,,,that is very extreme blowback from somewhere, which is defantly not good ! Do these newer cars supposed to do this ? Cause I'm very old school from the muscle car days, back then very extreme blowback ment DOOMED !

Pick up a guaranteed 6 to 12 month warranty used engine for 2969.00 and 300 dollar core charge with less than 50k miles on it. I work at a small ma&pa shop sa the lead auto technician and I'm an a.s.e. certified master technician with 16 years experience , have my ICAR safety restraints and chassis welding cert, EPA 609 HVAC recovery and handling license and the coveted California smog check certificate which basically means I can walk into any shop anywhere in the country and get a level 1 diagnostician gig job asap. Turn around sell it to the customer for $4,240.00 ( which is what an average Joe would pay off the street any way) 17 hours flat rate is rebuild ing I believe it is more like 11 hours to swap plus gasket set new thermostat plugs ( you get the jist) warranty it the length of time the dismantling place is, $1500 labor $4,500 parts 6k total and you have a happy camper and a lifetime customer and probably some references. I've done that very play out of my playbook numerous times instead of 8 to 10 grand to fix something that might have more hairline cracks in the block. Just my 2 cents.
Had a similar coolant loss with my 2013 fusion, can't remember what engine is inside, ended up being a cracked plastic fitting in the heater block, lost coolant when cool but one it was running for awhile the heat sealed the crack
