Think that’s bad ray try working on jaguars from the 80-90s have to take 19 things off to get to one $2 item but cost you $40.00 in gaskets for the shit you had to pull off to get to it they were renound for it

Isn't that how it always works

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars scrag2841 says:

You can look at it this way – you figured out how to remove the steering that the engineers couldn't without doing a lot more work. You outsmarted the engineers!

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Nunya Argo says:

Hey! I ain't no circle back gurl!

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Greg Santos says:

Wow! Yeah how come it gave u hard time bringing that one out while no sweat on placing a new one?!? Anyways, still its good to see and feel how we manage to drive past a winding road than a straight one.

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Greg Santos says:

"Infinit wisdom" hahahahaha, i like that! 😊

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Libturds Trigger says:

My manual says 4.0 hours job on a 3.6L version. I was curious why. They basically want you to remove the electric steering pump, CV axle and a strut on the passenger side for the rack to come out through the right wheel area, that's why it's more hours.

You OBVIOUSLY were not standing on one foot with your tongue on the back of your left front tooth and your right hand elevated and your head wasn't turned slightly to the left while you hummed your favorite song… DUH!

Why are there even places where water can collects 😟
    Feels very designed-to-fail to me.
I bet that there is a feature in their CAD program that can find those spots.

I like the line my rubber ripped and I haven't stopped and sometimes leads to problems. Story of my life lol. But such a beautiful girl!

Just anothner case of guys building things they never have to work on. I could spend hours with stories from my days in the 1970's working at a Chevy dealership

Ray, can’t believe how may things come apart so easily in Florida! As you know in Michigan everything is rusted and take’s twice as long.

Ha ha Click! The trusty self actuating organic torque wrench! Oh and what’s the name of that largish adjustable wrench? Thanks

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jojo Diver says:

Dude. Think American engineers are A-holes? Try swapping in a new control yoke into a French Falcon 900.

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars edjeep2000 says:

saw my friend on this job for 2 days a few years ago…I always wondered how people did it in book time…

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Travis Fox says:

"How did I screw this up so bad?"

If I had a nickel for every time I've said that… like the time I replaced the CV boots on a '81 FWD Subaru GL hatch. Couldn't get the axle out of the hub, so I beat it out with a mallet. And I deformed the axle rod head because there's a hole for a cotter pin. So I had to literally file down the mashed end of the axle and then rethreaded it with the axle nut and an "angry wrench".

Oh, and the first time I put it back together my dumb ass put the OLD BOOT back on. So I had to take it all apart again.

I like to think I've learned a lot since I was 17, but really all I've done is made new mistakes. The universe has never given me the same challenge twice so I can apply what I've learned. Stupid universe.

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jesse Case says:

A 3.6L V6?! That's just depressing! I've always preferred to stay above 4L when it comes to 6 cylinders like the 4.3L Vortec V6, or the several great, tough, and big, inline 6s from back when Pluto was a planet. I do know that in modern times though they are supposedly able to get some impressive power out of these smaller V6s nowadays. They say that all of the newer V6 Ecoboost engines are supposed to be incredibly good and powerful for their smaller size. Don't quote me on this, but I believe I read that the smallest one is only a 2.3L that makes something like 270hp/310 lbs-ft of torque! That is quite impressive. However those are unfortunately Fords and obviously that fact immediately kills the idea of ever owning one of those!!! I wonder if we will ever again see the days of big 6 cylinders, or will they continue to make them smaller, high-tech, and highly tuned to make their power? Either way I will still always be a fan of the good old 4.3L Vortec.

When you use ball joint tool tighten it and hit the knuckle with a hammer some times it will release without stressing the tool to much to avoid it blowing up on you or bending

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mike McCann says:

I was helping a friend of mine that happens to have a small salvage yard, swap out a timing belt on a PT Cruiser. He goes online to find out the manufactures recommended method and the first thing it said was, (See engine removal) Needless to say we didn't go that route. Since then, any time we have a pain in the rear part, like this rack you was swapping out, that becomes an extra pain we say, See engine removal.

Great work, enjoyed the durangas and commentaries 🤣🤣, very informative on some major maintenance issues that I haven't ever had to do yet, but will pry have to. I got a warzone of leakage needed to be cleaned to get an accurate inspection of what is or isn't leaking, thanks again!!
