bought my 95 Maxima in may of that year. still my daily driver. AC blows air down to 40F when 95F outside. never been serviced. aint broke so not fixin it.
I have a 97 Kia Pregio and couldn't get the AC to work. I was at the point of replacing the condensers (it has 2) and my nephew came up with a bright idea that worked. We installed an extra fan with a toggle switch just for the condensers. Now the condensers are happy and cool and the AC is cold which makes life in the Philippines much more pleasant.
Here in Minneasnowda 90% of the problems after roadrunner rockets to the front end is e vap coil drain tube plugged with leaves (composted) and bugs in the spring coming back from Florida Lol
Not a pro here but I bought a refrigerent 'sniffer' that found an otherwise invisible leak in the evaporater. Beeping like crazy at the air outlets and the condensate tube. Good videos. Thanks.
I live in Washington state. My brother is an auto mech in Wichita Falls TX, specializes in AC. I don't usually see him at July 4th gatherings. Much respect to you guys who do this in 90º plus weather. If I may be slightly off-color, I believe the term could be phrased as "Sweatin' like a whore in church."
I found out the other day that there's a tool that allows you to replace the Schrader valve on a live/charged system. Apparently it's $800+, so more just a novel idea than an actual useful tool.
You remind me so much of one of my former shop foremen. Sharp as a tack, goofy as a drunk giraffe, and a good guy through and through.
As a career HVAC/R professional, I can honestly tell you that if the charge has dissipated, then there is definitely a leak in the system. It could be very well in the Schroeder valves you replaced. One way to confirm that there is no leak is to pull the vacuum and once you reach full vacuum walk away and let it sit for 30 minutes or so. If the vacuum holds, then any leaks have been addressed. If the vacuum starts moving up from 29” mark, then there is either a leak or moisture in the system.
I like how you posted the pic of your write up, it would be awesome to read everytime you diagnose and write a car up the official version if you have editing time. Great videos.
TY,,,,,,WOW incredible very interesting super kool ,1st class great info.,, AAAAAAAAAAA+++++++++++ again great video I liked it a lot ,keep up the great work.
I, like another person in this comment section, wonders how the ac condensation water is. May be a good thing to remember. Car Wizard has a good video about that.
I live in Florida and you couldn’t give me a black car, They look nice for like 10 minutes after a car wash and they’re 1,000,000,000°, Lighter color with tan interior… world of difference
I once seen a compresor that had it's body aluminium leaking from porosity. . 🤨 With compressed nitrogen, the top of the compressor would bubble wildly. .
I work in the HVAC trade and am wondering why you don't have nitrogen to pressure test the A/C system to leak check? A pressure test with nitrogen can determine if there is a leak and a trace gas(scrap refrigerant) can be charged into the system to help pin point it with a leak detector. The point I'm getting at is not knowing if there's a leak and then evacuating the system will only pull in air/moisture into the system which ruins the purpose of evacuation if there is a leak.
This summer by AC let go I went through it I couldn't figure it out took it in tried to find a relay in the system combined it took it in they found it they fixed it I was happy I appreciate all the guys that figure out the stuff that I can makes my life easier bye
Ray, there is a tool that allows you to swap out the schraeder valves on a fully charged system. My brother told me about the one he uses on commercial HVAC systems, and I found the automotive AC version on Amazon.
Can of Lysol much less costly than day off work for those who've no income protection. Staying well usually preferred over feeling incapacitated & feverish.
I would really like an AC compressor with a double clutch so it can run on engine power but also on an electric motor with a battery supply. So I can pre-cool my car or keep the car cool for an half hour when I run into a shop
It's cool to see the same job in different Countries. I'm a German Bus Mechanic specializing on Electrical Stuff. We work completely different but in the end our costumers are happy😅. Newer mind i don't have costumers. We only work on our fleet vehicles. My dream is to work and travel (or how it's called) to the US an gain some experience in different areas 😅. I like your videos. There always entertaining. (sorry for my bad English 😂)
I think I would've checked initially for refrigerant leak getting past the service valves/caps. That way one could confirm that the refrigerant leakage came from that, instead of just replacing the service valves and scratching one's head if the new valves fixed it.
A handy can of Lysol is a good friend to spray on Virol surfaces of the great unknown vehicle interiors. C19 , etc is rampant everywhere. Best safe than sick.
I get 40 degrees coming out my vent at idle and 35 degrees while the vehicle in motion but coolant coming up on it 2nd of run time I'll be flushing the whole system along with engine block.
Hi Ray, you might think you’re repeating yourself on some of these videos. And yes, sometimes they are the same jobs on a different car. But we watch them anyway as it’s you doing the work. Sometimes on even the most routine jobs something new (for me at least) comes up. Sometimes it doesn’t, we’ll still watch it anyway, because we enjoy the content. Keep going Ray, Been watching you since 50k subs, hopefully you’ll break 500k soon. 🙂
It's like saying that you feel like you've been hit by a Mack truck. First, how do you know how that feels? Second, why does it have to be a Mack? Seems to me a Nissan would kick your ass.
Ray, Not to throw someone into party, "Car Wizard" was upgraded as he learned, try the Evaporator condensate for the dye. if it''s there, Bingo U could increase your curve and thanx, to the "Wiz"
You can also shine the black light on the condensation water dripping out of the evaporator for UV dye. If the water is green there is a leak in the evaporator.
Question, for Ray or anyone else who can chime in… Does anyone else ever have it where the first time they try a new shop… They're always trying to sell you control arms? I usually get this with chain places like Mavis, Pep Boys or Firestone. I've owned four cars throughout my life so far & roughly half the time when I've taken my car to a shop for the first time, they always try to push getting new control arms. Now, I usually go to another shop later on for a second opinion; most of the time they say they're fine. Just curious if anyone else ever experienced a sort of reoccurring go-to upsell that chain mechanic shops like to try & push?

Why didn't you check the evaporator??

Why don't you do a soapy water test with a full nitrogen charge to make sure?
I always confuse people when I say I'm going to boil the water at room temperature.
No sniffer

The automobile gods are smiling an american who pronounces Nissan correctly (not NEESAN)

Definitely the evaporator
Brother you're one cool mechanic 🤣🤣🤣 I'm sorry I couldn't help myself

Should be using a seat cover anyway

Take the UV blacklight into the men's restroom and see what you find, might make an interesting video Ray
For a mechanic you are very knowledgeful about physics.
As always interesting video.

Gunna get picky on you, you replaced valve cores in the service ports. Sorry, retired hvac guy just HAD to correct you.
maybe no dye in refringent maybe a electronic leak detector in cabin air vents and sensor on receiver dryer as well as shaft on compressor seal
Being in FL, it’s a billion degrees your right, lol. And been abnormally humid this year
I live in Florida and you couldn’t give me a black car, They look nice for like 10 minutes after a car wash and they’re 1,000,000,000°, Lighter color with tan interior… world of difference
A Maxima with the Trump syndrome. (Blowing Hot Air)
Ray do you have a brother named Tom?
Cool job Ray
Fluorescing the drain water coming from the evaporator coil box is a reasonable check for that coil leaking.
Bag ‘em and tag ‘em
I once seen a compresor that had it's body aluminium leaking from porosity. . 🤨 With compressed nitrogen, the top of the compressor would bubble wildly. .
You repetition makes us better, or something like that.
Crazy dizzy awful shaky camera. Ridiculous!!! 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
Sounds like part of the time you had his thumb over the microphone. But again a great video
Hang in there Ray! 😎👍👋

Good evening Ray
How dare YOU!!!
How many remember the ice cold systems from the 60s?
Wow, my 18 year old Matrix still has the original compressor and has never needed charging.
Trolls are everywhere.
is that your white ford f150 single cab in the parking lot?
edit: SUBBED
Didn't see the rad fan cut in 🤔
Quick question! What editing software do you use for your videos?
Stupid question time. How can you tell the high side valve from the low side valve?
This summer by AC let go I went through it I couldn't figure it out took it in tried to find a relay in the system combined it took it in they found it they fixed it I was happy I appreciate all the guys that figure out the stuff that I can makes my life easier bye
What's the difference between the service valve in the AC system and a valve core in a tire they look to be the same thing but looks can be deceiving
What can cause a car engine to get warmer when sitting with AC on
It's Nis San its AC.
I hate the plastic beauty covers on the engines. Does it have a real function?
That is a beautiful car
Cool
More evidence that I have been watching at least enough Ray: I was driving home today and said, out loud, "Ooh, a Silvery-rado!"
Ray, there is a tool that allows you to swap out the schraeder valves on a fully charged system. My brother told me about the one he uses on commercial HVAC systems, and I found the automotive AC version on Amazon.
Rai, have you ever thought of buying a refrigerant leak detector for AC work?
What is wrong with the 370z it's always there
Can’t believe it was a Renault without a transmission issue
Watch tomorrow's video? I will obey.
Raymond is that the new Top Secret Handshake at the end of the video lol 😆
Can of Lysol much less costly than day off work for those who've no income protection. Staying well usually preferred over feeling incapacitated & feverish.
Time to checkin/out your tenants(chickens& ducks)& feed the gators.
Lotta paperwork on those removed valve Coors.
Turn on your swamp cooler..and put on a hose to your soggy comfort.
Ray, don't you have a sniffer to determine any leaks behind the dash from the evaporator?
👍👍👍👍👍👍
What about a leak in the evaporator or the front compressor shaft seal?
Unrated to this video, was just working on my Jetta and found myself saying clickage. OMG. Ive been infected. 😉
Another Cool 😎 video Ray!

🤜🤛
my 2011 xterra air is ice cold never touched!
do you check the water dripping from the evap drain for dye/oil? might be a leak within the dash…
Have to say I enjoy watching your channel…
As always Ray u do good work

Why the hell are all these newer cars having so many maintenance issues!?
“These are the usual fail points…because it’s a Nissan.”
Nice video I’ve had times where it was just a bad service valve and i consider that being lucky because that’s a cheap fix
AC – 😓
I always wanted to see you work on new/old Nissan Maxima. I driving & alternating with my 96 & 99 Max
Ray hanging out of the car like Ace Ventura.
Holy what parallel dimension is this???
Did I just hear Ray pronounce Nissan properly instead of calling it a knee-sahhn?
Did i see strobes in the grill?
It is not the molecules. I checked molecule manufacturer and stated they are stable molecules and they won't hurt anybody.

Have the exact same 2016 maxima and it's hard to tell but possibly the same dark purple. I have half the miles though.

hmmm…
Warp 9.5 Captain.
No Permanent Seal on Any Compressor, they All will Leak around Seal as they get Older–Scotty's Words-not mine…
Gravity sucks.
Every 6 years? That would be the same on a 1996?
Nissan = Renault
