  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dan Z-MAN says:

for that boot that MOOG says you just put it on. What i do on some of the hard ones i take a cone from my ball joint press and i hook up the ball joint press like i was going to press in a ball joint and i tighten the shaft with my hand. And when it has a couple pounds of pressure i wiggle the shaft and tighten the shaft by hand and the boot will go right on . I've been doing the ones that give me trouble like that for about 28 years. it works pretty good .

Eric, I've been fixing shit 28 years. Had a honda civic in for a no start. Low compression on 3 cylinders. In a brain fart moment put oil in three cylinders for a wet compression. Durrrrr. Fresh oil all over my neck computer's and fresh painted walls.

So I’m guessing that you can use an air hammer to remove a ball joint but it’s not recommended for installation

Suddenly became conscious of the fact a torsion bar can't snap and puncture a tire like a McPherson coil could.

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Shane Harrison says:

Yep those new moog ball joints had me going when I first got them for the jeep and yes I called when I unboxed them because they looked like something was missing in fact it was fine it was just built differently than they where. But once I got them mounted and fully installed they were awesome

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Steven Grappy says:

Big nasty seems to work well. I have the snap- on Super duty at a cost of 300.00 that I love, they sure do the job. This video is from 2016, Is it still holding up and working good? As for the comments welding the ball joint. I have actually seen that a few times now of them welded in. Personally, I am too particular to even consider that as I take no short cuts, If it's not right, replace it. When Moog came out with the oversize ball joints that was a real blessing.

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Stefan G says:

I need one!!! This ball joint on 2011 Chrysler 300 is a pain

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joseph Fenton says:

A trick I have used in the past to put the rubber boots on is find a ball joint press sleeve that fits on the boot and then gently drive it on

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ron watson says:

New subscriber. I really like your style and the video.I'm going to attempt this on my son's 96 Explorer.I'm 70 so I'm a little hesitant but we'll see how it goes. Thanks

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tripp says:

    You da man Eric..

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jason Ross says:

its amazing how grease will take the slack from a balljoint lol

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Allan Moulton says:

If there wasn’t so much dirt and grease in that upper ball joint to absorb the shock, it might have popped quicker.

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Sam Reven says:

I love it THERES YOUR PROBLEM LADY

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars sheeshalready says:

Big Nasty is actually a 5X rivet gun designed for use in aerospace. There are also 7X and 9X which have longer barrels. The main difference between a rivet gun and a muffler removal gun is that rivet guns are supposed to have a fine tease trigger to slowly go from tap…tap…tap…to faster and faster. This helps the riveter stay controllable and on the head of the rivet you are bucking. The internals are completely different as well. Chicago Pneumatic were the early makers, but now, most if not all are made in China, bringing the price down to an affordable level. I have a 3X on the side of my work bench to help drive out pins, or whatever needs hitting. It's like having a one-handed hammer and punch setup.

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars hustler Forgita says:

My goes want to knowwhere to purchase big and nasty

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dennis Thatcher says:

"and the cotter pin comes out in pieces" no point in wasting time taking it out, you don't want to re-use it anyway.

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars bigboxes says:

Thank you for showing your tools. I've got a chubby now. I spent 16 hours changing my control arms on my 2009 Camry on Saturday. Used my relatively new DeWalt 20V cordless impact wrenches (3/8" and 1/2"), LED light and grinder (cut-off tool). It was going smoothly when I got to the second (passenger side) control arm, I was unable to break the castle nut on the ball joint. Ended up having to cut it off. Figures. No room to use the breaker bar (1/2" drive) or my impact wrenches. My breaker pipe was not big enough for the boxed end wrench. So cut off was necessary. Did not have a powered ratchet. Not sure if that would have broke that nut. Anyways, still felt empowered to do it myself. Sure wish that nut would have broken free. It was my first time doing this. I had to remove the engine mounts to access the mounting bolts for the control arms. That's what made it the bitch of a project that it was. First time doing that as well. Love your channel!

Sept 2020 ….. watching your videos for days since discovering them …… I'll be a qualified mechanic before christmas

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars yusuihang says:

Any mechanic out there use a cordless rotary hammer drill as a substitute for "big nasty'? I'm just a home DIYer with no cordless tools. Wondering if I should take out my hammer drill and try it sometimes on a stuck rotor.

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Yi Gao says:

l think you are one of the best mechanics, l like the way you work.

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars kenneth kornegay says:

Maybe you should use the Big Nasty on the links the vibration knocks them loose all the time ol school trick just saying great channel by the way!!!
