In this video we tear into the front end of a 4x4 2011 Ford F-150. I replace the upper control arm with ball joint, I press out the lower ball joint and reinstall it, along with changing out the CV axle and axle shaft seal. -Enjoy!

I mused it’s make and model.

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gary Hanson says:

Eric, I watch mainly for your option, and if someone doesn’t like your opinion, he can keep it to himself. If I wanted to watch some boring ASE person, I would go to a dealer.
Keep up the good work , and Hi mrs O.
    PS, more touch.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars One Way says:

Mr. Potty mouth mechanic. How about "opinions are like belly buttons" rather than your version? Would be a much better channel for the younger gen.

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Larry Fowler says:

I watch your pod cast (Whatever they call it) for many reasons. One of them is your opinion. You have seen more things in vehicles than I ever will and so your knowledge and opinions formed from that knowledge then to carry a lot of weight with me so regardless of that guy wanting you to "keep it to yourself",…. well forget him and keep on doing what you're doing! PLEASE, keep doing it!!!

Is that drive ring on the end of the drive shaft thin deliberately, I mean, is it meant to be a sacrificial part if the wheel is somehow stuck?

    Eric I thank you.
I did my own F150 pick up the lower ball joints a shop quoted me $1300 2017 then I got a second opinion on the lower ball joint they said to me the ball joints were fine in 2017. thanks for your YouTube, channel that I found I did the job in September 2021 myself and my sons help after I watched your work thanks I even change my upper control arms. I took my pick up Chevy dealer had them do Front alignment for $99.
I said to the mechanic I did this all myself lower ball joints and upper control arms was hoping they were where, closest, he said yeah they’re right on cause, I did not have to adjust the uppers Control arms.

Rules for repairing any FORD are as follows:

#0 – make sure you have your best running shoes on
#1 – find a parking spot well away from the building
#2 – park vehicle applying the parking brake
#3 – open gas tank and carefully place tank cap in a safe location
#4 – walk around the vehicle inspecting for loose objects on the body
#5 – carefully remove WWII Grenade from weapons storage locker
#6 – inspect grenade to make sure there are no defects
#7 – closely examine gas tank inlet for proper size of opening
#8 – gingerly remove pin from WWII Grenade (being careful to not release trigger)
#9 – precisely place the WWII grenade into the opening of the gas tank
#10 – release WWII grenade into filler nozzle
#11 – make sure your feet stay in your best running shoes as they haul ass away from the Ford at top speed
#12 – dive into the nearest ditch and begin to pray – (Oh father who are thow in Heaven, TAKE COVER SHE'S GONNA BLOW!)

Trash can Ford’s as well Chevy dodges as well I know Toyota are better but yes if y’all live in the lower states yes no rust but in upper states are rust buckets

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rip Stevens says:

Hi again Eric, here's an update: I just did a heavy maintenance on my '13 (new hubs, IWEs, both sides) I took a photo of the IWE I took out. I stuck a magnet to it to show you. Turns out the only aluminum in the IWE is the vacuum control diaphragm. The actual teeth in the IWE are steel. (I wish I could post it here) So, the Ford OEM IWEs are even sturdier than WARN locking hubs (which can be bad and good). Better to have the IWEs, like Fords, than leaving the front running gear all hooked up so you can kill your gas mileage even more than necessary. If you wish me to send you the photo, shoot me an email or text (LMK how you want to handle that. Ford has been ahead of the game for decades, constantly making changes/improvements all along. Now Chevy and Fiat are doing all they can to make up for lack luster engineering in a short period of time. And the results are far from ideal. I truly hope you can see past your prejudices. A really helpful video though, thank you!
