Now that the F250 steering knuckle is off it is time to get the ball joints pressed out, the new ones pressed in and get it reinstalled back on the axle. Let's see what can go wrong here.... -Enjoy!

This was helpful. My 2k F-250 is wandering but BJs are not sloppy, makes me think they are too tight as you mentioned here. I am changing them (they had 250k on originals) and put in Moogs. First one was too tight with factory camber sleeve. Got an SPC sleeve and that gave it some more room and now I can move it with 2 fingers. Had I not seen your mistake I would have thought new ones are just tight.
Even a couple ft lbs off torque spec will cause Ford ball joints to seize. Has to be perfect every time or you're guaranteed to get memory steer
I've learned a job like this one has MANY steps, details and of course tech tips not shown in the manual! It can burn up a LOT of time and wear you down, which is why you double check that everything is back to where it should be.

We all have made the mistake of tightening the upper ball joint before the lower on these Fords Eric O it happens correcting the binding and memory steer before it was completely installed is what makes a good Mechanic @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
Ball joints on these fords are Tight as a Tiger Tighter then tight good Work Eric O and Memory Steer Sucks @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
To do the top Ball joint on these knuckles I always stick the thread of the clamp through the hole for the bottom ball joint when the bottom ball joint is removed and it always works Well on straight aligned Ears Quick Tip Eric O @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC

I like watching other pros do it after I've done it to see if they're doing it right. Been doing lots of F250 front ends lately. Not a bad gig. They're 2 hours a piece. The slap on ball joint press is amazing. Air hammer them out, press them in.
Speaking of hammers…you would like my lead hammer that's used for trueing Harley crankshafts….weighs 38-40 pounds. Don't ask how many trueing stands I've broke.

Never entered my mind actually. I know you are a working man. Come on fellas… don't call Eric. What the hell are ya thinking? Here's the deal. If you get the idea to call him do this first. Get your camera and make a video of a project. Working around a camera and especially editing is a laborious process. Then do all the crap to upload it and understand until you get thousands of viewers and subs you won't see a nickel for it. Ask me how I know. He's helping all of us with free information already. Don't call his shop. That's just stupid and it should be pretty obvious why.

I cut off most the stem of the ball joint with my Metabo with a cut off blade. It made things a little easier for me..
Your forgiven..I'm doing this job right now on my 05 dually super Duty. It's been a mother trucker..ball joints both sides tie rod ends, drag link. You just never worry your very proffesional and very humble. You know more than I will ever know. Thank you for showing us rookies how to do it..

I run that brand balljoint in my duramax for the lowers. So far I'm pleased with them. I installed them myself at work and I liked how it came with its own cone for pressing them in. Overall appearance is nice and so far 6 months on 35s lifted 6 inches and beat on they are doing great so far!

Shit always goes wrong. Don’t beat yourself up. I did my joints on my 2002 F350 and was drinking, ended up putting the mud shield on backwards and ended up cutting them off cause I couldn’t get the tires back on LOL! I don’t drink anymore but still have my 7.3 without the front mud shield.
Just wondering what the OTC number of the tool you tapped in the axle shaft in was. It looked like a large oil seal driver. Thank-you.

Guys, quit calling Eric unless it's very important and you have all the information ready to go, he's got a family and business to take care of. Only call when you've done all the basic troubleshooting steps first and have everything ready to go such as codes written down and pictures to text to his personal mobile. It's just called respect.
Hi Eric. Love your vids, long time viewer. I’m a retired truck mechanic for our city garage, all ford. I would tighten the lower joint then begin tightening the upper if I noticed it was binding I would knock it back and forth with a big hammer but not much force it would always get right and I would continue tightening and tap again if necessary. Sometimes after all was tight I would tap them around and they would feel better. It’s a weird set up. Anyway love your vids, your very talented, I wish you and yours continued happiness.

Forget the $1,000 set to pull the ball joints…go get a piece of pipe that is the same diameter and cut it long enough to pull that ball…save yourself $990. 🙂
