Dude, I work on cars down here in Texas…..we almost never see stuff rusted this bad. Absolutely horrific scenes you northerners see on the daily. I'd quit up there LOL

Dude – that was a crazy ass burn! Did you get it looked at???

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jeff Ziegler says:

Would you recommend stainless steel replacements? Or is there a reason to stay with steel in NYS?

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Big Chili Rango says:

Eric , will new manifolds smoke after install ?

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Big Chili Rango says:

Eric , will new manifolds smoke for a bit after install ?

Just so everybody knows I have never had to do this to a Chevy what's that tell you

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Larry Halseth says:

Ford makes undersized manifold studs. The machinist hand book explains this . Ford should replace no charge.

What a waste of truck I would get my moneys worth and drive it.

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James Peters says:

Hats off to ya, I have not seen a rust bucket like that with less than 50K. he must run that thing at the salt flats drive home and park it for 10years.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rush Bayou says:

ya… i think ill just get use to the noise… this looks like a big job.
u still never delt with the broken studs either…. i have at least 4 broke ones driver side rear.

Hi Eric, I just finished one side of my V10. Your video is very helpful. Thank you. If you would, please let me know the brand and part number for your socket stud extractor. The bulky one I am using doesn't work as nice. Thanks, Darryl

Rediculous! You gotta get out a torch to loosen up a bolt. Vids like these saved me from dropping $10,000 on a 2000 f-250 yesterday….

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mr _ says:

Damn hell of a good job.
I just finished exhaust manifolds on a Ford e450 with a V-10 Triton. Had to drill and tap 12 out of 20 bolts. The passenger side was the beast. Watching this video helped me get through that nightmare. Thanks for all the great content.

I have a 1978 F250 4×4 frame (roller) that I drove in Minnesota winters for about 10 years until the body rotted. It is not near as crusty as this trucks frame. Not even close.

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robert Weitlauf says:

wow, that exhaust pipe looks like a tree branch

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Not here Still nothing says:

I live in arizona and have a 99 v10, although one manifold bolt has sheared off the rest still have factory paint on them.

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars mike thompson says:

    the crap you work on

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James Bascombe says:

I use a trick that has helped me before. Get the manifold hot. Then spray the bolts with ice water. ( in a spray bottle. )
When my 5.4 warped an exhaust manifold.i replace them with headers. The flange was thicker than the stock manifolds.

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars NUNYA BIZNES says:

Oooooo. that converter is worth over $1100 on the scrap market in 2021. I just cut mine off and sold it since these trucks do not use an O2 sensor after the cat the PCM doesn't monitor the catalyst

The Intro is a A+ in my books, love the saloon music.

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Richard Graham says:

No wonder they snap like carrots, look at the size of them, ridiculous junk.

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars EarlFaulk says:

I live in Akron Ohio just on the very edge of the snow belt and have never seen rust that bad….not even on my old 86 Accord

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gone Fishing FL says:

Looking at this, this would be deliriously painstaking to do on the ground. It looks like a PITA on the lift. Might be worth to just lift the cab probably. I thought of putting custom headers….but given the cost, I'll pass.

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jason Ghering says:

This vehicle looks mint compared to what you find in Ohio. In Ohio you wouldn't even have heads of a bolt remaining. Just a blob of flaky bolt remains.

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jack Mazza says:

Too bad Fluid Film would have saved this trucks life. I'm from Rochester I swear by the oil coatings, never paint or rubber spray trash.

The bolt will stick to the stud ?

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Angela Prater says:

Really wish you use gloves when cutting with that torchs.

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gone Fishing FL says:

Shit mechanics up north put up with is insane.

Half the job is trying to take out goddamn bolts.

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Mazza says:

Don't you think it would have been better to replace with stainless steel bolts ?

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Mazza says:

From my experience here in NJ, a vehicle that sits, rusts a lot more than one that is driven daily. Something about the high humidity in the summer we have here.

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Mazza says:

Have you ever used muriatic acid to loosen rusty bolts ?

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Andy Perkins says:

I run the truck smoking hot first then hit each bolt with a long punch and hammer spray some wd40 on it and pray.

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Andy Perkins says:

Been there done that it sucks!

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robert Lee says:

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jeremy says:

DO NOT use oe studs and nuts or gaskets. Metric Screw and Tool Co. has stainless stud sets and get Remflex gaskets. I use these parts regularly and have no problem getting 10 + years

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars W says:

Clearly a lot of you people don’t know what steel bolts aluminum heads and exhaust heat can do. Also if he would have used stainless steel hardware he wouldn’t have had to come back

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Richard Akins says:

Eric can get that air ratchet effectively into places most can't get their hand.
