When I needed to scrape off the old gasket when replacing a water pump on an aluminum block, I flattened a piece of 3/4 inch copper pipe and filed the end to make a scraper that would not damage the aluminum.
Went through mine, had 13 codes, gas cap code was 1st
Is using Either or… frowned upon these days lol??? I'm an old Ford mechanic, we stuffed big blocks, 9" rears… into old Mustangs, Fairlanes… at a shop that has closed. Usually for carb leaks. These new cars SUCK!!!!!

Soooo underwear under the hood is not abnormal. Lol
I use a can of brake kleen and spray around the vacuum lines while the engine is running in intervals.. when the engine revs up.. I focus on the area where I sprayed.. it's not the most fancy way of doing things.. but it's done the trick a couple of times..
Upon finding the FOTL, I would have closed the hood and parked outside. Come get your car lady!!

Couldn't agree more about belt dressing. I tried it on a noisy power steering belt. It worked… for a couple of hours. It also slung off everywhere and made a heck of a mess that I had to clean when I eventually put a new belt in.

Probably when the plugs were done as per nodata they say remove the intake which we all know doesn't need to be done. Prob why the egr is leaking lol

I had a P0171 on my 05 mercury montego (same engine) and it had the light for 4-5 days and disappeared and never came back. Car is dumb I swear 😂
I had the same car with the same 3.0 and it constantly had EGR failure. I put 3 on it before i traded it in.
I'm working on one of these now, I ended up in the pickle, the DPFE broke while I was loosening the screws for the EGR O Ring 😵
