In this video we replace the EGR o-ring, the intake manifold tuning valve o-ring and the plenum gasket and verify the repairs while having a look at the lazy rear O2's.

Eric and the SMA team, I’ve been finding it fun and informative to look through your history videos. This one was a long time ago but still so educational even though I’ve watched it before. Thanks for your work and the great lessons! God Bless Y’all!

Couldn't you use intake manifold/ carb cleaner spray all throughout that plenum. Spray-in let it pour out the other side

where can i buy that brake cleaner that makes that real neat noise? i love that clanging bell/orchestral clash noise….my brake cleaner doesn't do that and i think maybe i've been cheated by the store

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gene Foster says:

Fuel injection is good as well as high voltage capacitor ignition. After that the additions are defication. Especially their 33 speed transmissions. All big tech nonsense.

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gene Foster says:

If you go back to the 60's and70s none of this crap would be necessary if it weren't for the EPA. Just take the engine apart and fix it.

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Daniel Barker says:

Eric did you steal that guys skivies from under the hood, after you brake cleaned the skid marks?

Hello Mrs O – you are beautiful

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Akersjon 278 says:

Hmm, sucking on a pipe to check for crack, and messing around with dirty hose, lucky Mrs O showed up and put a stop to it.

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joe Vreeland says:

A zombie post… late anyway … but keep up the diagnostics. Nuts and bolts are fine, but the money's in brain work. To keep my 75 y/o brain fresh, I watch you and Jeopardy.

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Doe says:

People complain about you doing too many diagnostic videos? Why?!
Those are the ones where your wealth of experience and rock solid diagnostic proceedures shine through. Don't get me wrong, I like the nuts and bolts ones as well. Always interesting all the methods of dealing with crazy levels of corrosion on fasteners.

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Benny Ogden says:

I don't know why your wife doesn't want to be on TV she's a beautiful woman

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars kenneth litton says:

Mrs O didn't want on camera but went into Ford dealer to pick up parts LOL

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mikeaaron777 says:

I had a 97 Taraus that blew out a frost plug on the firewall side of the engine as I was passing a dump truck. The plug was a temporary style like that of a frost plug heater. Could it have done that from a leaky head gasket?

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ed Rodrigues says:

    As Spock would say; "Fascinating"……

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jose N says:

Have you read the label on Brakleen? It's nasty stuff to be breathing every day.

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars David Rasch says:

Ford is a 'world car'. You wonder why in the world they engineered it like they did!

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars roger eastman says:

That should have read…."wouldn't" install new ones?

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars roger eastman says:

I'm curious as to why you would put new spark plugs in that rear bank, since you had the intake off, since the expense is not a big deal….or am I on overkill?

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tommy Rommazontz says:

A little tip on the EGR: if you spray a little diet 7up on it before you hook it back up, the heat from the engine will dry it off and have no affect on it whatsoever. I havent tried regular 7up so youre on your own there.

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joe Morris says:

I enjoy south main auto, Eric is highly intelligent mechanic, learning alot from him, would like to know how to order tools from astro, thanks Joe Morris 9

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Sean0526a says:

The "diagostic mumbo-jumbo" is why I'm here. I can do a brake job. Tracking down the weirdness, that's the talent. Thanks

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Richard Gibson says:

I thought a ((wood screw)) was pinokio on a Saturday night……

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Akersjon 278 says:

Be mindful Eric, EGR:s are one of the gateway valves, if your not careful you'll end up sucking on fuel valves and whatnot and after that it's all downhill…

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Larry Ehrlich says:

Tell MRS. O that you will take her shopping if she will come on camera more often. Then you will find just how much she dislikes the camera. No new clothes = hates camera. New clothes = hates camera but worth it for new clothes. If she gets new clothes it's a win, win, win. She wins, you will, and your channel wins.

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Donnie Johnson says:

    Great video Eric..

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hola! TheCoatneyadkins says:

Nevermind. ..lol…I watched the rest of the video and it answered my question.

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hola! TheCoatneyadkins says:

Now whenever you do a job like that, after you fix all the leaks and put it back together, would it be a good thing to have your battery disconnected the whole time so when you start it back up it starts with clean memory and fuel trims? Or is it better to leave all the old info in the ecm so you can see the trims getting better? ??

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ejmagras says:

I enjoy the diagnostic stuff. I cause me to think logically and mechanically.

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hola! John Rodrigues says:

What's to complain about? Tool box tour, brake clean, side tour on a Nissan and an intake vacuum leak repair!

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars G_ Dubbya says:

Late suscriber hear just tuning in. Bought one of these '07 Ford demons as an extra gas saver for runnin about town. Savin a lot of money with these video fixes. Much appreciated! You are a blessed, talented and very….very humorous mechanic. 😄 Thank you!…and thank you to ALL mechanics in the industry! The puzzles and riddles you all deal with daily, and solve, are an under appreciated skill. I now no longer grind myself on labor costs.
