In this video I bring you along as I finish a diagnosis and repair on this 2005 Ford Focus. I replace a PCM that I diagnosed earlier this summer with a used one and I show how you can relearn the PATS keys using the Autel MS908 to fix codes U1900 and P1601. We also have a look at what is going on with the SRS light.

What do you think possibly when going into PATS to reprogram keys would make Autel Maxidas give a fault issue and have red bar across rather than going through the ten minutes with a climbing blue bar?

Another great video. I understand the chase for the pretensioner on Fords. I chased a simular issue to find out again the pretensioner was inside the b pillar. Great satisfaction when found but it did take a service manual check to verify the issue. Scan tools definately help with diagnosis ( more like required) to really get a good picture of faults. I love the real time data features. Very informative but it does take some time to figure out where everything is and how to use them well. Thanks again, I really do appreciate your videos.

I was following your troubleshooting until about half way through when my eyes rolled back into my head! I was wondering… Didn't you replace therestraint control module also, with a used one? If so, how did you get it to work with no fault codes without programming the used RCM to this car? Or did I miss something? In any case, thanks for another great video.

I owned one of these, but a 2004 w/ a Ford Zetec (Mazda) engine with automatic trans and it was a rocket-ship. Through the years it ate drive line bushings… I don't beleive the drive line structure was designed for the torque of this specific perfomance engine. The engine took root in the high-end Focus cars/wagons after serious valve retainer issues came-up on the 2002 Ford 2.3?, this engine was replaced in production w/Mazda 2.1 16V (Ford Zetec). This Zetec Engine had a red-line of about 7800 RPM. Never once beaten by any car road or highway.. just unlimited power. Only problem with the Zetec other than it's supreme torque was the plastic rocker-cover when synthetic oil was used — it leaked like hell!

    HELP!!!!! NO CRANK….2014 Ford Escape SE w/ 1.6 Eco-boost
The car was in a front in collision, and the ECM ( and wiring pigtails) were damaged. So I spliced in (soldered) replacement pigtails that I bought at junkyard. Also plugged in the replacement ECM from junkyard. But now the car won't crank/start.
Please point me in the right direction of how to troubleshoot the issue?

Cant you download the Ford software and pay for a single day license if you dont have a fancy scan tool? Of course you will need a usb to obd 2 converter but that’s how I’ve programmed new Ecm’s in the past including keys and vin.

I have a 2002 ford lightning I had a aftermarket stereo installed at what was supposed to be a good shop. long story short when they where installing my new head unit they removed the cluster to gain more access to run wires modify dash etc… when there tried to unplug the cluster it was stuck 18 year old vehicle go figure. continued to yank on the wires broke the plug portion of the cluster. cluster was junk they purchased a used cluster installed it told me my truck was done stereo looks and sounds great but hey for some reason my truck won't start. security blinking on dash no crank no start etc. buddy has a snap on scanner tells me a pats issue is present does the relearning and gets truck started I jump in the truck look at my dash it says my truck has 192k miles!!!!!!!!! wtf. make a call to stereo shop ask what is going on owner gets on phone tells me about issue and says he bought a junk yard cluster!!! call dealer they say they can't help me almost make me feel like im trying to get something over on them. what are my options this is a show truck had 68k miles truck is worth a lot of money I need some help

I have a 2016 Ford Fusion Titanium 2.0 Ecoboost… I was driving one day and the Transmission just jerked hard and the RPMs went up so high that I just put the car into neutral and back in drive, then the WRENCH light came on, also note that the Sport mode was also disabled and no paddle shifting. This all happened when I accelerated not hard but moderately to get going to a highway at 55 MPH. So the Symptoms are still there in my car at this time. But when I start the car and put it into Sport Mode and shift just using the Paddle Shift manually, the car has No Faults and NO WRENCH LIGHTS. This is Weird though. Shifts fine with Paddle but in normal Drive there is a problem and the WRENCH LIGHT come on and Reduced Power or at times there is no Acceleration or delayed acceleration. Just started today as of this posting.
