Come along with Eric O. as we swap out this hydroboost brake booster on this 2002 Chevy 2500HD 6.0. This job is pretty similar to those with a vacuum assist brake booster that they use on a lot of the half tons. -Enjoy!

I just completed this job and found my booster contaminated just a little bit so a few tips.
    1. flush your system including your hoses.
    2. booster hoses are 18mm and 16 mm with needle nose pliers.
    3. brake switch removal use a little 90 degree pick comes right off.
    4. remember which way the switch goes on as mine fell off.
    5. Booster hold down studs use a swivel NOT a u joint, and use a deep socket.
    6. replace the o rings on the hoses…mine came with the rebuilt booster from A1 Cardone.
    7. The spring inside the booster had to be reused remember how deep it goes in the groove, there is 1-3 grooves on there if you go to deep.

GREAT VIDEO WATCHED IT A FEW TIMES WHILE DOING THIS JOB.

I have 30,000 on my GMC 2002 2500HD and I need a power steering pump again, brake lines and several other problems. That's right only 30,000 miles. I'm NOT very happy. Lost the brakes and all of the power steering fluid. Not sure what's bad. I had one power steering pump replaced, and not sure if a hose broke this time. The use to be a good truck. 4×4 and taken care of, it just went to Hell. This is about 4 that I have owned and this one SUCKS also GMC SUCKS ! Rust Bucket!!!

Can we get a tool box tour 🙏

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ron T says:

Good video however when I changed mine out the master cylinder push rod that came with the new unit was longer so it wouldn't release my brakes. Very simple to pull your push rod out of your old unit and install it in the new one. I agree with Eric that it doesn't make sense to send a new rod if you don't need it however if you skip this you may have brake trouble.

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Samantha Leann says:

Love seeing a mechanic that tastes and knows the many different fluids of a vehicle. This is a sign of a great mechanic, not a run-of-the-mill mechanic. We lost most of the guys like yourself that use their god-given senses to diagnose a problem. Not like others that can only plug in a computer and hope it points them in the right direction. Then to top it off, we still get a bill for exploration and our original issue still exists. (Prime example) My sister-in-law asked a shop, why are my car breaks squealing? Shop replied, our mechanic replaced the left rear TPS and you should be good now.
