It's a very popular thing for people to say THAT BEING SAID . A clever way to add extra words to your wordiness.

It’s a shame about the trailer hitch being awkward. Just proves the old adage, “No good deed goes unpunished”!
    Keep up the good work!

I’m so glad I was told to check out you videos. Watching your videos has brought the fire and the passion back into working on cars again, I got away from it years ago. My big upcoming job is doing a full air conditioning system on my truck even pulling dash and air box to replace heater and evap core.

Could you explain why you dislike cork gaskets? When you consider how common they are I don't get it.

That's cool you want to take that tow ball and tighten it up but the customer may not want that it may be like that for a reason for that reason I have learned to stop modifying things like that I'll still do it for 50th they ask me but I'm not going to volunteer myself without their consent

you can use a piece of tube on those bottle tips and then you can turn the bottle any way you want

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars TheGrimReaper says:

I would only top up the brake fluid if the pads have been changed, because down the line, the next guy that changes the pads is going to push the pistons back into the calipers so he can get his new pads in and if the fluid has been topped out with the pistons already extended, that fluid will push back up the lines and out the top of the reservoir. Plus, the brake fluid level warning light should come on when the pads are worn, if you top up the level with partly worn pads, the low fluid level warning won’t come on before the pads are down to the backing and they’re wearing the discs out.

It's nice to see a pro use vacuum bleeding successfully. I used vacuum a few times but was irritated by air escaping around threads. As you say, I should just not worry about continuing air bubbles even with silicone paste on the tube nipple. Pressure bleeding would be nice but even with quality kits there are all kinds of different MC reservoir cap sizes, so you end up needing a whole inventory of adapters. For those who don't do it every day, a two-person bleed with brake pedal pressure works OK. The new challenge will be having the scan tool to relax the emergency brake, the game moves on even if we don't want to.

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dan's Learning Curve says:

Was it mentioned why it's a good idea to flush/exchange brake fluid?
Hygroscopic, aka absorption of water from the atmosphere which causes issues with calipers sticking and brake fade.

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dan's Learning Curve says:

Thanks for the tip on cutting the hold down strap after mounting the lower mount! Seems obvious once a guy sees it!

If that was North Carolina, that poor Grasshopper would have been breaded and fried for lunch. Remember, at North Carolina zoo's, not only do placards have animal descriptions, but recipes. Lol

Should have put the trailer hitch
in the vice, Would have been a lot easier to work on instead of it moving all over the place. Just one guy's opinion…

Not a spec of rust on that rear. All bolts came out nice. No foul language. Not here in Jersey. Everything rusty and lots of foul language.

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars N H says:

don't you reuse that cotter pin on the trailer hitch now…..

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tracey Jones says:

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Patt Nairn says:

Did you know that when replacing shocks /struts your meant to prime them by manually compressing about 3 times. This removes any air trapped during transport/ manufacture.

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Roy Saxton says:

I do the back furtherest wheel cylinder because it uses the most fluid. then the other rear. when the rear are on a single rear brake line takes less fluid for the 2nd one… then on to the front… probably just habbit. when all 4 wheel cylinders are plumbed directly to the ABS valve block then I do as you do.. front or back makes no diff.

If you change the crappy GM rear end to Eaton or similar style Posi traction differential. It will increase the Mpg and make for better handling overall

I’m curious about the procedure of using an air hammer and chisel to tighten up the shaft on a cooling fan after removal and replacement. All the videos I’ve watched involving this procedure show the hex shaft in plan sight and accessible for the use of the proper size wrench, seems a little crude to me. I really do admire the expertise of all automobile mechanics, especially under tough conditions.
