Running up studs you should double knot it and use a socket with a ratchet makes life a hell of a lot easier and faster than with a pair of pliers man come on dude

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Justin Brown says:

In case it helps anyone not already familiar, they're not cheap but precision flat ground stones are supposedly real useful when you want to make sure a surface is flat.

Thanks for all your videos. I experienced what I consider to be a shop trying to scam me . I took my vehicle in for AC recharge and after they charged it they told me my system wasn’t working and I’d have to bring it back for diagnostics. Took it home checked all my fuses and relays noticed a few missing placed a jumper wire ac clutch kicked on put appropriate fuse in ac fixed. I want to think all mechanics are honest but this test my faithfulness. Ps I use this shop all the time.

    Ray's port and polish technique.

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James Sowards says:

Do you ever run a tap through the holes before installing new studs?

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Marack Obama says:

a tip to remove studs – screw 2 nuts on it and tighten them to each other – you will simulate a bolt head. Then – unscrew the stud using the lower/inner nut

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars TheMechanicj says:

As long as I got paid 30 hours labor I’d. E cool with flat rate on this job sadly it paid 3

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mission Hills says:

If you read this Ray, can you comment on what a reasonable amount of miles (longevity) a domestic V/8 engined vehicle should get in Florida? Almost all the vehicles you work on only exist in auto recycling facilities where I'm from, like 200,000 miles is just jaw dropping for me to see!

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mission Hills says:

Between the Snap On stereo and that port polish job you added another 23 h/p to this unit!

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Philippe P. says:

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Larry Ciarrocchi says:

4lb. test monofilament line through the holes on the manifold will hold the gasket in place. When it gets hot, the mono disappears. Also works very well for valve cover gaskets.

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars gusgiesel says:

I was told years ago that the hottest part of a flame is where the visible flame ends, at the point. Maybe incorrect? Or at least not correct in the case of this particular torch? Also those old studs have a hex on the tip so a 6-point socket can be used to remove them from the flange, instead of pliers, if you chose to. Thanks for another good video.

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars kenneth shumate says:

When I was younger and couldn’t afford to take my car to the shop I did all the work, I HATED IT! You make it look so easy. You are why I am willing to pay so much to have a talented person such as yourself do the things I cannot!

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Andrew Lyons says:

i think you should have run a tap thru those flanges. just to seat the studs all the way down

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Guy Werry says:

Part of why I like watching you, Ray, is the professionalism and patience – I'm a very casual mechanic and things that would have me throwing wrenches and temper tantrums you just handle.
    Good stuff.

old trick we use at our shop on the sparkin plugs.. slip a rubber hose over the end of the spark plug that fits snuggly,, about a foot long.. makes it easier to thread them in, esp. the hard ones in the back..i know that you are busy.. and dont answer many post.. but keep some diff. sizes of rubber hoses around..

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Daryl Morgan says:
