I always wondered what it felt like to do a Scotty Kilmer clickbait title πŸ˜‚ Now I know. All joking aside, shops like this need to be shut down because letting people go with no brakes or steering and passing the car for inspection really is dangerous. Just remember, even if you car is safe, the guy coming at you in the other lane may have gotten his sticker from this shop. -Enjoy!

And then there are the States that have no inspection. A large segment of the population always look for a cheap and easy way around everything they don't want to do. The rest want to comply with… oooooops… the rest want everyone else to comply with such things so they can do whatever they want. Just think, without human nature there wouldn't be a YouTube worth watching.

yo name drop that shop on youtube, that way i can get my car inspected. my car is a way bigger piece than that lady's car and i don't want to pay to get it fixed.

The lawyers need to be held personally accountable, both on the local level and the legislature. Maybe, if it hit their pocketbooks and livelihood, they might sit up and take. Action!!

I enjoy your stuff. Really wish you wouldn't get political with it though. Certainly, your concerns about other shops passing cars that are unsafe is absolutely valid but making it political isn't helpful. Think about this…. I live in a red state we don't have inspections AT ALL. Imagine what's rolling on the roads here? That said, yeah shops need to be held accountable as do the car owners not sure shops turning in shops is the answer either… Could have shops with agendas against other shops etc.

We use to have inspections in Fl…the issue I had back then was low income homes got a waiver…most of their cars were the worst ones……I miss some of the aspects of inspections,it kept most uninsured and junk cars off the road…

There is Good and bad. When and if there are honest shops. They recommend repairs.
I lived in Utah and they have inspections.
I got use to fixing my vehicles as recommended by the shop. I return the favor and they do the inspection and pay my fee.

It's frightening to see, especially if customers are hoping for an "inspection" station to turn a blind eye to tire, brake or steering defects. Call me old fashioned but I like the peace of mind that my car is roadworthy when it comes out of it's annual test.

Could you do a video on a proper New York state inspection

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars 6 weeks ago β€’ 35 years ago says:

You could take a junk car to that inspector and turn yourself into their β€œcustomer” and then you could file a complaint against them as a customer. Me personally I’m not fond of inspections, but that’s mostly because I grew up in a state that has no inspections and I currently live in a different state that has no inspections and when I did live in a state that had inspections it irritated the piss out of me because I didn’t like paying for it. Government overreach in my eyes but I guess it could be looked at as a a necessary evil.

I find it ridiculous you can't make a complaint yourself as a licensed NYS inspector. If it's a genuine complaint with evidence to show, then it's worth investigating. But as you said, it's "The Peoples Republic Of New York." Transparency is not a strength of theirs.

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Brian Coleman says:

Wow that’s crazy that’s why I said I wish more mechanics would like you honest and true to the people instead of being a jerk like the rest of these other shops be that’s crazy

This is the prefect example and the difference a honest and the best mechanic on YouTube is and other corrupt and hacker mechanic shops out there … Ladies are taken advantage of bcs they get ripped off and most of times no work its done in their vehicles and get charged for it … Tyvm Mr O for being a great ( the best ) honest mechanic and such a great human soul

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dean Sapp says:

Eric, I feel your pain. We have the same problem here in The Peoples republic of Maryland. BTW i m 270 miles away from your shop. I may have to pay you a visit

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bruce Coleman says:

I used to be a licensed Arkansas State vehicle inspector. I took the job seriously, which didn’t make me too popular. Most of the death traps I turned down because they didn’t belong on the road, never fixed ANYTHING! They simply went to the next shop, paid their $4 and got their sticker. Aside from their piece of junk being a threat to everyone on the road, they only pay for the inspection AFTER they pass! If they fail, we didn’t even get our $2 for our time, which actually cost us about $40. The shop that did nothing but slap a sticker on got the $2. Nobody cared.

i hope you are going to show the people that their car is a death trap in case they don't already know

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Paul Kline says:

I remember many years ago a lady had driven down to PA from New York right after having her car state inspected and when she got to her hotel she drove through the door to her room when she went to park in front of it. The car was towed to our shop and when we pulled off the front drums everything fell out. The shoes linings were disintegrated and the rears weren't in much better shape. Maybe she went to the same inspection station as your customer did. She sued the shop that inspected her car. The shop ended up paying for all the damage including damage to hotel.

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hola! Peter Pierce says:

    Well…..Soon…"KING ANDY" " lol is Gone!! Yea!!πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.
Sad how your law is. In Texas, We Professional Shops Live to get rid of the Bad Shops. What I see here is a shop that Should be Shut Down and the License to operate Revoked. Maybe even a Fine imposed.

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Roersma says:

That car would sell for $5000 Canuck Bucks right now
