MHC is a rental/leasing/sales company, I pickup tractors and Box trucks from them every year for the fireworks company during the 4th.
When we have issues with a rental or lease vehicle they do the repairs, interesting.
I did heavy diesel for awhile and what I determined is that its all the same concept, just heavy…lol
all of the HINO plastic steer axle caps will eventually leak, try doing that job at 2:00 am at -20 Celsius or -4 Fahrenheit at the side of the highway in a mountain pass.
Be sure to make sure the little vent hole on the rubber plug isn't plugged up as well that can cause a future leak.
Cheap and easy for medium or heavy. Use a piece of cardboard to place under it and guide it into a drainpan
1. You put coolant in that engine not knowing what coolant to put in and you used a coolant designed for light duty vehicles in a medium duty diesel. That's very bad, you diluted the SCA charge in that cooling system as well as possibly adding fluids that are not compatible with what's already in that system. Using light duty coolant designed for passenger vehicles in a medium to heavy duty diesel engine can result in scaling, corrosion and cavitation. I have seen many posters at truck stops telling drivers not to do what you just did.
2. You replaced the hub on the steer with one meant for a trailer. While I don't think it's a DOT violation, I'm pretty sure there is a reason the wheel seal on a steer is different than one on a trailer. Check your parts next time, if your not sure call a semi truck dealership, their service departments are always willing to answer whatever questions you have and those steer caps are so universal that every shop and parts store sells them.
3. You didn't drive it then check the level again, it may be low.
4. You appear to have overfilled the radiator. Medium and heavy duty diesel trucks operate between 190 to 225 degrees before the cooling fan revs up to cool it down. I didn't see a surge tank on that truck so that gap inside the radiator between the coolant and the cap was for expansion, now your customer will probably have coolant coming out the overflow.
Any vehicle that has a GVWR or GCWR of 26,001 lbs or more is considered a commercial vehicle by federal law. The company that owns that truck is required to inspect the truck daily, keep records of defects AND keep records of who worked on what. In the event this vehicle is involved in an accident where someone is hurt, law enforcement and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration will investigate (the FMCSA is in charge of all commercial vehicle safety rules and they issue fines for violations as well as investigate accidents where people are hurt or killed), if an accident is caused because of something you worked on they will find out, in addition when the person injured or their family sues they will get the maintenance records of that vehicle from the owner during the lawsuit.
Knowing all of this, here you are on a video posted to the internet working on a commercial vehicle's wheel hub assembly, which is a safety critical component that a person can be placed out of service By law enforcement if it's found to be defective (out of service means that vehicle does not move from it's spot, not even by tow truck until the safety defect is fixed), and your doing it on a video you have publicly posted to the internet and acknowledging that you dont work on commercial vehicles.
If that vehicle has something go wrong on that hub and it causes an accident where someone gets hurt, this video will be EXHIBIT A at your trial for criminally negligent manslaughter and at the civil wrongful death lawsuit.
If I were you I'd take it down and not touch commercial vehicles until you are trained to work on them.

Also be careful mixing different coolants they are known to have detrimental effects, some will turn to a gel.
Just a tip put the plug at the top and fill through that Allen key , over filling isn’t really detrimental as there is a small breather hole in the red cap so no pressurisation ( Ex heavy vehicle mechanic)

So to make it simple for those who are intimidated by medium and heavy duty trucks…
Super simple overall and if you work on a diesel pickup…you can easily work on them.
The biggest suck about them is size. Other than that they are just another airpump driven vehicle.

I've always used 80-90w gear oil in the bearings and it has worked fine for the last 30+ years
Need to get one of those “make a funnels”. I use them to drain the oil on the semi hubs.
If you give it enough time it will eventually stop leaking out 😂

hinos are trash, i work at a mack/volvo dealer and for some reason we sell hinos and they are all rusty piles. only pre emissions hinos are passable in my book

Making air brake sounds in a box truck without them is a natural part of the operation.
Gotta love the access around the engine unlike the light weight counterparts ( modern cars and trucks). There's room to work!!
In my 26 yrs of driving a class 9 semi. Well it depends on operating temp. They do make a Hub Oil though. I like to add LUCAS Synthetic oil treatment of about 25%. It adds fuel economy and a smoother ride.
The coolant system is so large the expansion of liquid. I bet a lot of what was added goes into the overflow..
