In a previous video https://youtu.be/Alc1aLzdG3g I had a look at this Honda Civic and determined that the PCM and FTP Sensor are good. So it means we have a poor connection or a broken wire. Can we find it!? Let's watch find out. -Enjoy!

I had a similar problem. Insurance co. would not cover cost of replacing modules due to lightning strike. Wanted proof and found it. Your diligence and straight forward approach led me to a very small burn mark on a rear rim and tire. It sure got the companies attention. Thanks for the help Eric !

when I see car detailers using steam to clean consoles and dashes … this is what I expect to happen

video does NOT suck. And, I enjoy listening to you talk through your diagnosis and solutions. Also, your one liners and sayings make me laugh out loud. Don't change a thing.

Thanks for yet another good video. I've watched some videos by Rainman Ray and neither his professionalism or perfectionism are a patch on yours.

If you are not a car guy, can you tell us what would your job be if you had the choice? What is the thing that you really love?

I had a P0453 last week on my Accord. First thing I did was pop open the gas cap and voila, fixed!

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Nate Who says:

So how did the voltage go up. Wouldn't it drop with the resistance in the harness??

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars saulns says:

Extreme vape clouds made it rain in that car. And mice love that double green apple flavor.

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Neville Richardson says:

You are the super sleuth of auto diagnosticians – like a dog with a bone – always great learning experience. Re the corrosion – drinks usually leave the telltale sticky film but cars have lots of corrosive fluids that contribute to a polluted environment inside the cabin. What was above the connectors on the engine bay side – brake master cylinder ?? Really enjoy the vids.

That underdash rust looks like this car's from the pacific northwest. Long periods of cool, moist air.

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Troy Lee says:

This man should be training young technicians on how to diagnose electrical issues. Most would walk away from a problem like this, having absolutely no clue how to find the problem.

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Leonardo Rodriguez says:

Hey Eric I just want to say THANK YOU!!!! brother. I just got the same issue on my 2002 Civic and thanks to this video I was able to fix. Keep up with the good work

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars david sumpter says:

I love your videos. From start to finish.

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mr Nabzio says:

Why was there 2.3v at the connector (signal wire) after the fix? Shouldn’t it be 5v as that was the reading from the PCM. I totally understood everything else but I got confused why 2.3v was still showing when it should be 5v. Unless I’m mistaken

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chris C says:

Keep the camera pointed at your work! I watched both of these videos and I actually learned something. Thanks!

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mark Steele says:

Well, I think we all know where the mouse likes to take a leak…

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Vincent Sullivan says:

I wonder how the "average watch time" statistic of 3 minutes is calculated. I almost always watch Eric's videos from start to finish but have so many interrupts in my life that watching a 30 minute video may be broken up into 5 to 10 shorter watching segments – so an average of 3 to 6 minutes per segment. Another side effect of this interrupted viewing is that YouTube frequently shows me another advertisement at the beginning of each watching segment so a 30 minute video can end up being subjected to many more than the usual number of ads. This is VERY annoying so I make it a practice to NEVER purchase from the companies that run these ads. I agree with the comments that Eric should not worry too much about the analytics. His videos are superb and are watched in their entirety by his many fans. I think so highly of his work that I have subscribed to the SMA channel, one of only about 3 channels that I have subscribed to.

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Lorenzo Castaldo says:

Watch em all from start to finish, I’ve learned a lot from watching/listening to the play-by-play

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gary C. says:

Good stuff Eric, chasing and tracing. I did a clutch install at work and video for YT and told the truck owner, clean it out and remove all personal "stuff". Yup he left a revolver in the center console that I had to mess with to get the stick out. Gary

    Leaky roof… Broken washer hose…

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tom Tebo says:

Okay, the glove box thing really hit home for me. Diagnosing or repairing electrical problems…I take apart dash and consoles on a regular. I have never considered the possibility of getting poked by a needle. That's kind of driving me a bit crazy thinking of all the consoles and boxes I've plunged my hand into without a thought. Wisdom.

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars gary willcox says:

"I'm an expert, blah, blah, blah" but unfortunately Eric, you are an expert and a really great teacher, so yes us devotee's will watch "this crap" unlike some of the other "ding dongs" on youtube, keep up the great work

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars imacgst27 D says:

You could never talk to much, the difference between the guys you hate watching, because they talk to much is that you are entertaining no matter how much talking you do. I think I can speak for most people in saying that, you don't have to worry about any of us wanting you to be any different than you are!!! Thank you for taking us along for ANOTHER great set of diagnosing videos.

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars lawrence , k edgett , jr says:

I truly do find your vids ,, educational and very informative ,, I am learning a lot of tips and tricks I really never knew about , not to mention all I do is work on cars and trucks ,,,

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars lurkingknight says:

always be suspicious of a very clean looking 20 year old car. to me it looked like the rust under the dash and console make it look like a flood car.

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Gudde says:

The ones who leave at 3 minutes aren't in it to learn. I watch your videos start to finish, I love seeing your thought process and how you approach things. I like not seeing just the fix but process up to it.

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Wilson Ocasio says:

About those Personal items in the glove box, this was at the dealership too, the lady came back with the service writer and I was in the glove box about to change the A/C cabin filter and she went full Karen on me…,🤦🏻‍♂️🙄. She was convinced that I was looking around her stuff and about to steal something ….. anyway, I HATE GOING INTO THOSE BOXES!!! 😂🤣🤣

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Wilson Ocasio says:

I used to be a Honda tech for 17 years and that civic from 01 to 05 was the biggest nightmare when it comes to aftermarket radios. Great car, but my biggest problems from radio installs gone wrong…..🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️. Mad respect from me to you Eric.

Great job! I enjoy every video!

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars TuningWithTom says:

Stored outside or driven with windows down for a significant amount of time probably no ac or something, definitely some vermin involvement and moisture somewhere along the road, current or past owner had it surface detailed but not removing interior panel deep cleaning. Or what you said at the end LOL.
