In this video I have a look at one of the more frustrating things in the automotive repair world... The intermittent! Lucky for me in this case at the very end I was abler to isolate the problem with this instrument cluster and make the call. Why do the (idiot) manufacturers put a 160 mph speedo in a van, or for that matter, any car? I have one in my mustang and all it does is make it much harder to figure out your actual speed,
sometimes all it takes is the healing hands of a real mechanic.

Likely a cracked solder joint on the circuit board.
I had something similar on an 08 crown Vic. Took the cluster out and resolder the back of a board, problem solved!
I fixed mine like that on my 2013 civic except I used a hammer and beat the crap out of it. 😂😂😂 could it be battery voltage fluctuation??? Sudden spike on voltage causing disruption on those sensitive gauges?
What does the red circle at the bottom of the dash mean
My grandfathers 06 Honda Odyssey does this from time to time, most of the time its fine, then suddenly it just gets into its fits, I can't seem to figure it out as no one can seem to make it do it, I'll have to try this on his van and see, though being an 06, its slightly different.

Im having the same problem with my 2000 Odyssey. I don't really want to pull the instrument cluster nor would I have began there. So this is a very interesting video to say the least.

Had the same problem with my 2004 Ford Focus which would also turn on the chime and map lights. Never had this with the dozen Foci's that we had as service vehicles (2000-2002) I found no cracked solder connections. Rubbed the back side of the instrument cluster down with a dry paint brush and sprayed it down the a nice clear coat of Rustoleum (NOT A SPONSER). Ford changed the cluster in 2003-2005 THE PROBLEM NEVER CAME BACK. SUSPECTED HUMIDITY. MY SON GOT $250 FOR IT A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO (6/2021)
Low battery voltage sets these things off…MB being the worst…And you can't use a booster pack\Battery charger.. The ECU reads the battery condition..Why I always check the battery before I hookup any booster pack or battery charger. I want to see what the real voltage is…

Normally, to make it break again, just reinstall it. It will always malfunction again just after you put the last screw in. 😀
The gauge well have to be replaced that sucks it be expensive
Also on Honda/Acura you can do a gauge check with out the scanner. Its part of the onboard self test diagnostics.

Low mileage
Normally something like this can be the result of: voltage regulator failing (they have a temp shutdown and over voltage shutdown, what happens is that the temp or the amps go down during an small time (while the voltage regulator is down) then the voltage regulator trips again.
Same issue with Microprocessors (may be the reset circuit is bad, for example bad capacitor )

According to Google the problem is usually a faulty instrument voltage regulator or a bad ground. Erratic gauges, or gauges that seem to read uniformly low, are usually caused by a bad instrument voltage regulator

Low tire pressure is the cause of tire blowouts. The excessive flexing of the sidewalls while driving causes heat..the excessive heat causes the tire to blow out. I purposely run my tires 3 psi above the placarded air pressure found on the drivers door jam. What vehicles do you see on the side of the roads with flat tires??? How about boat trailers, utility trailers, etc, etc, etc. no tire pressure monitoring on trailer tires!
From what I saw and what happened it might of just been a loose connection and taking it out and playing with it made the connection better but as you nothing can be further done till it does it again may nee another cluster to repair the problem.
So an Amish boy on a hot date and takes his buggy into the car wash. Now I've seen everything. Of course it reminds me of Eric's joke about an Amish drive by shooting–clopp clopp bang bang clopp clopp
Its problem with a1741 transistor with heat sink resolder it with the same transistor and check with all transistors in cluster
I had a 99' grand voyager where the cluster would completely shut off while driving. If you gave it a smack it would come back on. Whole problem was one cracked solder joint on the back of the gauge cluster where the pin connector was soldered on. Once you got the cluster out of the car, it took about 2 seconds of contact with a soldering iron to fix the entire issue. I watched a youtube video for the same car and it was the same exact pin solder connection on that one too.
Obviously not same issue for everyone though but that was cheaper than buying a new cluster.

Pop it open and resolder the the resistors. It's almost always the resistors. MOSFETs sometimes, as well. 95% resistors, though.

Lol well I'd check and see the reason for the left marker light on the gauge cluster or turn light would light as it was malfunctioning and briefly too when it stopped malfunctioning but it's all good
