See that one's clear, we're good, clear, and we're good good. We need to pull that in some we're not good. This is why you always got a double quadruple triple check. Look at here.

See what I've done? Not ahead in the right spot, but that uh, that pad caught that suspension Rod right there and I'm effectively picking it up by the uh, the torsion spring and we don't want to do that.

I keep a kneeling pad tucked between the fluid reservoir and the post because I'm super anal about lifting long heavy vehicles on a two post hoist.

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Panther Platform says:

The dealerships just kick them under the car and start lifting.

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mike Cobb says:

I bought a 2yr old Dodge truck and took it to a tire franchise to upgrade my tires. I was outside the open shop door and noticed something didn’t look right when he lifted it up. I went inside and found one of the support arms was on the muffler. I told them and they corrected it. Lucky nothing was damaged. And this was 20 yrs ago. Probably worse nowadays with people who don’t care

    Death waiting to happen

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Billy Caudill says:

Set your lift right the first time and you won't have to worry..it'd amazing the stupid shit idiots like you do for video content..

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars manfred schmalbach says:

Had a car breaking in half on me, twice, in my early beginnings of restoring my own sh*t forty years ago. That's how I learned where to look for corrosion at that special type of car. No injuries whatsoever, and never dropped one after those which technically weren't "dropped" in the first place, either. Hell of a lot of cleanup.

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars DeltaX156 says:

I've seen a truck slip off of an arm on the hoist while someone was underneath it. I didn't see why the arm slipped from under it but I was standing like 7 feet away from it when it happened. lucky the other tech was unharmed. took me a little while to feel comfortable going back under trucks after that. Every one working with a hoist should have this burnt into their brain to check their lifts before sending it up.

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Guys playing with tools says:

Only one car has to fall and it will cost more than the time it takes to double check for 1 whole career.

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dave Gilbertson says:

Couldn't agree with you more. Rocker panels on my '14 Regal are dinked and dented from the dealer service center

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars db says:

Put it in the rite spot the first time , you won't have to waste time quadruple checking stuff . Sounds like you gotptsd

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Noah L says:

At my shop my co-workers are so retarded they would get more butthurt that I'm doing it slow then happy that I'm doing it right, I don't care, I'd rather take an extra 5-10 minutes to do something right than do it fast and wrong

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars asopw-_-uwu says:

Had a 16 z06 in the shop last week. Checked it like 5 times!

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars howedy ya'll says:

    Always check

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Glen Grimm says:

It's actually call a torsion bar not torsion spring.
    But potato potardo

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Gnafakis says:

My neighbor got nicknamed squash and then fired shortly after for parking a cara under a lifted car b and not locking the lift which slowly settled car B onto car A’s roof. Apparently hiding large roof dents at eye level isn’t all that easy.

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joseph Eastman says:

If you aren't checking it 24 times, are you even double-quadruple-tripple checking it?

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars SnowingFire says:

I always slide it under pump it up slide under jackstands lower slow on jackstand repeat x3 till 4jackstands plus jack under a jackpoint ready for emergency there's the drive on ramps and then jack up back two jackstands way too oh then slide some cardboard under there because you're doing it on the streets in winter as the Suns going down after already working a full shift plus overtime 😐

Ray is an inspiration to enter the industry after my army career. If it weren't for my stupid subaru, and ray rainmaker I would never have considered it a suitable living. So thank you

My toyota has drain pipes for the sun roof. If you don't respect them your sun roo will start dumping inside

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Toni DNY says:

As Mikey pipe says a good technician is always aware and visual. Awesome job Ray this is why I would trust you working on my car not to drop it.

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dee Tee says:

    So…24 times ok 😊

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ron Fox says:

Its only gonna fall once, now how many times it boumces after that, that is the question

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jhon Ditch says:

it was almost right 3 outta 4 aint that bad till torsion spring bends breaks

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chris Hebert says:

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Edward Kveton says:

In 45 years. I have never had a vehicle fall off a lift. But I only use Rotary lift with the flip up pads. I’ve seen 6 trucks shift off of the stack type. They get sloppy in the stack joints allowing them to move. Always lift til wheels off ground and shake vehicle vigorously before going up.

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars This Is Your Captain Speaking says:

Just use the floor pans, like most shops.

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars M.A.D. Gamer says:

    gotta check 24 times

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dairis Kuznecovs says:

isnt double quadruple triple check like the most basic thing you can do even if you have a quarter of a functioning braincell? like why wouldnt you do that youre literally lifting someone elses money and if drops it is gone and its comming out of your pocket

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Saltydog45 says:

Car manufacturers seem to make it a mission to make it impossible to do it safely when they add stupid side steps for bling factor

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Raymond Eldridge says:

Been putting car on the rack since 1963 and haven’t dropped one yet . Only once had a issue and that was on a rusty Audi the interior was going up faster than the body lol

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tony Gingrich says:

I swear this happened just the night before last…

Guys on side of the interstate. GMC Safari on a factory scissor jack, jammed underneath the passenger door. I mean…the bottom of the door is still slowly crumbling and folding between the jack and the weight of the minivan.

During this, one guy is underneath between the jack and the front wheel, trying to figure out how to remove the spare tire. His buddy is SITTING on the front bumper, smoking a cigarette. Thanking me for stopping; but everything's OK. They got this.

Frames only never even try the body seam.

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mark Chastain says:

Two weeks ago I took a Sprinter van in for new tires…

Picked it up and noticed the door well bucket (trim) was sticking up three inches. Pulled it out to find a three inch hump along a pinch weld… No other damage… They lifted a body on frame van on a basic pinch weld. 😂

    It's a 2005, I don't care.. Hammer and a block of wood, it's all fixed.

But when I told the shop, they claim they had it on the frame. 🤔. I won't be going back. Hey, stuff happens, but take responsibility…

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars The Geek Side says:

I normally set it, rack it until it's about an inch off the ground, shake it, check with a flashlight then up she goes

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars L.W. Wise says:

I always set them, check it, lift off ground, shake it, lift it more and triple check again then lift. Never dropped a car but was Infront of one someone else dropped.
