Come along with Eric O. at the SMA shop as he has a look at a 2007 Hyundai Sonata 3.3l that has an A/C system that is blowing warm air. He started out thinking it may just have developed a leak and lost its refrigerant but quickly finds out it has a blown fuse. That leaves one big question...What blew the fuse!? Stay tuned to find out!

Will you fix my A/C? lol I don't have all these fancy tools. Checked fuses but can't locate the A/C relay on my 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT.

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Hamilton says:

Since it’s north east have you thought of cleaning the contacts since corrosion is a norm up there! More corrosion(oxidation) means more current pull

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Aaron Ermis says:

Great video. A demonstration of what’s missing with many “mechanics” these days, the ability to troubleshoot. Most now a days find a code and change a part. It either works or they shrug their shoulders and change another part.

What are the symptoms of a bad AC clutch?

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Shane Harrison says:

Nice when you started the hunt my first thought was a blown fuse or a seized fan clutch hadent contemplated a high energy draw from a bad working clutch

05 sonata… compressor not engaging. Relay not clicking even with new relay . How can I track down what’s wrong. Thanks

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James says:

2012 sonata. Air was cool but not sufficient. Bought a refill can, added some, air completely went hot never to blow cold again. I heard hissing inside the car, can't hear the compressor kick on either, hissing did eventually stop. Did i completely f**k myself and my air conditioning system????

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars MillCityChris says:

I have the same car. I was trying to recharge my AC but the gauge needle was reading in the red. What does that mean???? Over pressured

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ash i says:

Can you replace the clutch without removing the a/c compressor from the car? Great video.

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chuck Gatlin says:

so what was going on with this car's AC? Was it blowing hot or not blowing at all?

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jeremy Craske says:

Watched you while looking at mom's car. Already checked fuse and swapped starter relay for ultimate check. Without your fancy scantool, but your brilliant hypothesis and your findings of the correct resistance, the only other thing I could think to do was check the positive battery terminal that was shielded by a plastic cover. I lifted the cover to find massive corrosion and burnt plastic. Installed new terminal and the compressor is behaving. Will get a good voltmeter next just to check amperage. 35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Johnny V says:

My sonata ac runs fine and cold once i get my RPMs up to 4500. Can it be ac control valve ($17) or maybe clutch? What makes that clutch engage?

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gizmo42Rodeo says:

One thing that a lot of people dont seem to understand. Wiring is sized according to the total maximum current draw of all devices on that circuit. Fuses are sized to protect the wire, not the device.

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Frank Newling says:

Just use a 1/2 can of Brake Cleaner on the coil and douche it out with a bottle of rubbing alcohol❗
It'll either clear the junk causing the short or kill it completely, same result if it doesn't. 😋

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mike Chiodetti says:

Another Great Video! Ya gatta have the tools to verify the problem. Scopes, Amp Clamps, DMM's, Pressure Gauges, Pressure Sensors and more!

I know I'm a year and change late to the party but… I'm a aircraft tech that grew up working on cars in my dad's shop. I ran into the same issue on my Sonata. I went about it a little differently and with happy home owner crappy tools. Came to same conclusion as you did just took a little longer. Lol. Great job man! Just found your channel while looking for a video on how fuel pump comes out. Most of the time I don't listen to idiots on YouTube I just watch to see where and how it comes out. With you my friend… I will leave the volume on! Your not one of the normal idiots on here! Thanks! Look forward to seeing AND LISTENING to your videos.

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Duncan Mac says:

I said you need a puller to pull the puller (fuse) at the exact time you did. Got a good laugh out of that one. Thanks for the video.
