    I struggled with those caliper Mount bolts bad, it was locktite, I cleaned the grey crap out of the threads with WD40 and they worked great after that.

    Awesome! This Man is what you call, a Professional Mechanic! 😁👍. I’m thinking he could almost do this brake job with one eye shut and one arm behind his back! Seriously, very well done, concise and descriptive, for the average shade tree mechanic/ DIY guy to follow. My local Hyundai Dealer quoted me about $325.00 for a rear brake job, which included turning of the rotors, so maybe the time you looked up is about right? I decided to pick up premium ceramic pads from O’reillys, and replace the pads only. Rotor surfaces glass smooth with no pitying or corrosion, so I left them alone. Thumbs up! Stay safe and Healthy!     I just did brakes on my 2016 Sonata. First time brakes were done (I did pads and rotors all the way around). Front was easy and quick. Rear should have been. But those two bolts you had issues with? Mine were almost impossible to remove. The two bolts holding the bracket with the pads started coming off easy enough. But a few turns later it got hard. As in VERY hard to keep loosening. Last time they were touched was on the assembly line. My impact wrench couldn't reach so I used my 22in long ratchet. After 20mins PER BOLT and all my strength they came out. Turns out, Hyundai didn't tap the threads right on that bracket (or not all the way), or they left metal shavings inside it. Bolt was impacted with metal in its threads. Before reassembly I had to retap both holes and chase threads on both bolts. After that it went in easily with just my finger, and tighten to spec. Both sides were like that. Pretty crappy oversight on the assembly line. Rear brake job thanks to those bolts ended up taking me over 3 hours. By comparison, I did the fronts in less than 45mins.

    It's called bimetallic corrosion I have literally seen that crap eat the bottom rails of trailers in between the rivets that were holding the side panels on. The problem the rivets were steel the rest of the parts were Aluminum. It ate the aluminum so fast the trailers where breaking in the middle.

    How did you get the caliper bracket off so quickly? When I did this, one of the bracket fasteners was easily accessible and other one had absolutely no access because a lower trailing arm was in the way. I had to loosen the lower trailing arm on each side, the whole job took about 3 hrs.

    Is it best to replace the stainless steel clips, or can you just clean the old ones? Toyota OEM pads do not come with the clips. I guess the torquing comment was 'tongue in cheek' since that ratchet did not look like any torque wrench I have seen.

    I had to drill those screws out of the rotors on my 2013 Kia… Nothing worked, impact, chiseling etc. Had me PO'd beyond imagination. I just went up to the HW store and got replacements and just put them back hand tight.

    I had to LOL when you said that the caliper bracket bolts aren't something you want to fall off. This of course coming from a fella who once had a caliper bracket bolt fall out, causing the caliper to rotate forward which was now attached by the lower bolt. The caliper then had some interference with the I.D. of the aluminum wheel and crash, bang, boom, a big gaping hole in said wheel, tire flat as can be. Fun times.
