I hate critiquing you, seems most of ur xp comes from working in a shop though. Just trying to be helpful. When torqueing bolts the wrench is suppose to be in motion when it clicks. Not suppose to click right away. Also that torque stick you used for the lugs is not suppose to be used to ensure the lug nut torque. You are still suppose to torque with wrench afterwards.

You missed the timing belt tensioner is leaking pretty bad. Thats 6.5 hours labor right there. Only takes 45 min for the timing belt service. Also you can replace this axle with only taking the ball joint loose.

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars txangel says:

Ur visual indicator is the grease slinging out. This is common issue on hondas.

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars txangel says:

Just reading the title, i would say the axle is binding and replace it.

I love jobs like this. A day of cake is a great one. I usually take the annoying shit noone else wants like pressed bearings, tune ups requiring pulling intakes or alignments on lifted trucks because that solidifies my position, #2. Cant surpass the bosses son unfortunately.

Heres an idea how about a head light it'will do u wonders and save that flash light from falling. Miners wore them right

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Stuart says:

Does the front camber need to be reset after reassembly? Other MacPherson strut front suspensions use the two strut to steering knuckle bolts for camber setting.

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ray says:

Always a great idea to replace parts in pairs. The one that is “good” is just as old as the one being replaced.

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars john desaavedra says:

I think we should all suffer the monotony of doing the second axle. There is unity through shared suffering.

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Todd Jubie says:

I liked it Good blending of the two scenes.

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars james matlock says:

Check for sloppy axels excess play.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Patrick Lamastus says:

Why replace both axles? Makes no sense double the $$$, I know there is a tool that you can get from amazon that will tell you where that particular noise is coming from…

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rob G says:

Why did you replace the axle and not just the cv joints?

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Suk My Krok says:

You got me going do do doo do doo do doo every time my work phone rings…

That torque seems way over the top, 224lbs! are you absolutely certain? and the memory thing is very interesting as I was reading about just this week and basically every time we remember a past event we remember the last time we made a copy of that memory, and in the remembering we make a new copy! I feel that has profound implications but I’m probably not intelligent enough to work out what they are but I can operate a self actuating linear driver so I’ll settle for that and keep up the good work cheers.

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars opal177 says:

Somehow, we all hate pulling ball joints XD

"you don't have to be mad to work there….but it helps".

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars JOKER says:

    Does that require re-alignment?

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Galen Vetterick says:

So you got lucky again and were able to hide the turning noise!👍

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tooway says:

Me: well don’t turn left. Guess nascar isn’t in your future.

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joe Rossiter says:

I've never done an axle before but that looked fairly easy and it also helps when you have the right tools

No I'd rather watch it step by step, its helped me out a lot on things I've never fixed myself , and its not robbing yals business any, I'm way up here in the Virginia Appalachian mountains !

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Les Rocheuses says:

Do all those axles go to recycling/scrap yard? Hope so.

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars BG Outdoors says:

Ahh the convos that go down in shops are the greatest when caught on cam. I’ve had some wild convos while at work and were hilarious

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jordan Kinberg says:

At least when u do the do-dee-dooo-de-doo is a lot nicer than we were to the front shop people…. If it ran more than 3 times we would all stop and be like GET THE PHONE YA LAZY SERVICE WRITERS 😛 but not that nice.

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars glenniz1 says:

Every time I'm working on our cars or repairing issues around the house, click, gravity and Doo Dee Doo Dee Doo when the phone rings are habitually used! Thanks Rainman, my wife thinks I'm losing my mind when she's around me doing repairs….Well she's kind of right, for the most part!

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Colin Parkinson says:

    Why not remove the calliper?

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars 00 00 says:

Upper ball joints, lower one? I am predicting without watching it. Honda does have lots of issues with these after 125 000KM -150 000KM. Civic in particular.

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars TheOnespeedbiker says:

Being a young genius and amateur mechanic since Jr High, I learned to always compare new parts to old. The first was when I was in a high school, I was given the wrong oil filter that caused my car to pump all the new oil into the ground and the second when I was in college, rebuilding a leaky a master brake cylinder, where the piston in the kit was longer causing my brakes to lockup every time I pushed the brake pedal. Yes so it only took twice, because as I said, I am a genius.

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Lawrence says:

Good idea unless you encounter side issues which you might like to share. Great job. You should still work on a Lamborghini or blow something up.

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars burgess john says:

On my nissan it recommends greasing the spline to stop clicking noise. Which in fact worked for me

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Scott Dahlstrom says:

had that van and as soon as I heard the noise I knew it was the CV joints.

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Cleto says:

As a mechanic in Buffalo, NY.. its nice to see things like tie rods and the cotter pins actually come out and apart like they should.

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars badassbiker1974 says:

When you do the "super light speed motion" we all miss out on the entertaining workshop banter. In my opinion, I'd rather watch the full thing, regardless of how long it takes or parts you have to make.
Keep up the good work Ray, love your content. 👍👏

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars E-Nonymouse says:

Doing your own CV axle removal and install for the first time is a stressful but often educational process.

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Coffman says:

Love how most Honda are easy to repair

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mario says:

I know what you deleted. I have seen all the American Pie movies and I know what she did at band camp. She played the flute. 🙂
